Go to walmart and get spring valley meletonin 1 mg strength. It should have good quality rayon in it. Will cost less than 5.00. You will see how clean it is don't worry.. It's very clean. A quick soak and rinse will do it, but doesn't hurt straight out the bottle though. I won't poke fun if you boil it but only boil for a few Minutes you really only Need to rinse it. But not really, I noticed no difference. Don't mix fibers around leave them straight. Drain it in a strainer Dry flat on paper towels. It should puff back out.

You wont be disappointed!!.

Of course burn test it to make sure the material wasn't changed to something else. Smells like paper turns to light grey ash

Anybody willing to send a sample I'm willing to pay postage:) PM me please. BTW I did get a sample from another member but I fell asleep while it was boiling and scorched it:facepalm: (I know somebody's going to say I shouldn't have been boiling it lol, but too late now).

Thanks!

BK,

Do you have a Sally's beauty place in Atlanta? They have a ten foot back for two dollars.

Look here: Sites-SA-Site

Oops - Sorry I am wrong the ten foot bag is actually REAL COTTON NOT RAYON.

Hey Holman they only make cotton in 10ft package. That site is a Misprint. I find the bottle rayon to be great quality and the meletonin adds no scent to it and the pills are 99% harmless filler.

I have a couple things to talk about tomorrow regarding our earlier conversation, also including shootist sweet experience.

Hello everyone! Take a look back.. This thread was started only one month and 10 days ago, techically just under 6 weeks. It didn't begin to get some activity till 5/23 less than 4 weeks ago. In our search for a bulk or purchasable rayon product steamhead turned up the Sally's CCr. The first purchase of CCr was On 6/02 by Brianc1111... I have to keep looking.. Really it's only Been 15 days? Wow. I'd say so far this is a huge hit... And it's only gonna get better. Stay tuned.

right on jeremy!!!!!!!

this is not some fly by night crap...read the thread..
how many people have stated that "no i dont like this stuff",
it doesnt wick as good as cotton...it doesnt taste as good as cotton..
who has come up with proof that its dangerous.................waiting...........waiting...........
from what ive seen and read...cotton is more dangerous...
hell, your juices are more dangerous than your wicks.

for rayon to take off like it has this quick.....its the real deal....
doesnt matter to me what anyone says....ive got my lifetime supply and im not going back!

thanks millions for bringing rayon out in the open jeremy!!!!!
most people wouldnt have put in a quarter of the effort that you have brother!!!!!!!!!

So, I tried some of this stuff bought from Sally's. I put it in a Kayfun and Taifun GS. Wicks fine and all that, but I do notice a "harsh"ness that is attacking my throat almost making it sore.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Could be the nic is hitting harder as many people have stated, maybe vaping more than usual... I along with many others have nic'd down due to the use of rayon.

Jeremy, I put the "over wick" in specifically to fill the wick cut outs. Even with a 14ga, nominal 1/8" or 5/64" coil, and significant shoulders they were not blocked enough to prevent flooding. I believe, from reading almost this entire thread, that CC shrinks when wet so I wanted to err on the side of caution. It is doing very well with the "over wick" in place so I may just continue with it in this configuration.

I'll try to get some pics of a CE3 set-up later today, I have some outside work that has to get done this morning ahead of the heat. Yes, I still have one, in fact well over 100. I love the little suckers and they sure are convenient and I've gotten really fast at rebuilding them. They are why I ended up getting into rebuilding tanks and building a CD welder. The problem with them is the tiny ceramic cup. Silica wick is stiff enough to force the coil together and form relatively smooth corners when it is bent while the CC, being much fluffier, has a tendency to kink into pretty tight corners being held out by the coil. I think that "chokes" the liquid flow.

So without reading 186 pages (to date), is this stuff safe? at least the consensus ?

I bought some, so far its impressed me (and I literally just bought the koh gen doh cotton too).... I've been thru 4 tanks since sunday, 4 different flavor juices, with very little to no previous flavor creep.... that alone has impressed me! It seems to wick as good or better than KGD cotton, which wicks better than organic cotton balls.

Safety is in the eyes of the beholder. It is made of cellulose, wood fiber, but needs to be treated with various nasty chemicals to manufacture it. It is washed, and cleaned, thoroughly, allegedly, before it is finished. There is also a medical grade CC, rayon, that may be, technically, even safer. Jeremy can answer this in great detail, but I feel more comfortable with CC versus silica or fiberglass.

Do a search on this thread, by author, JeremyR. That's the closest to proof its safe. Another poster talks with his doctor about the various wicking materials he's used and doc felt it was better than untreated cotton. Not all that much info out there.

Most who've used it also noticed coils staying clean longer with less crud on the coil compared to cotton. There are some amazing pics in the thread of week old wicks that appear almost new. Lots notice a more moist vape and they can vape at higher settings on vv/vw devices.

It's as safe if not safer than cotton, there are of course people who have nothing better to do that to knock it, however if you would like to read around 2000 posts to come to your own conclusion that would be great. I will say that nobody has done a study on vaping with rayon however it is widely used in the medical field and in other areas in place of cotton. Generally uses where it's ability to outperform cotton are where it is used and it's been in use for a while now by a lot of us with great results and no negative impact. Glad to hear you've joined the club, enjoy, if you have any questions we would be happy to help, remember pictures worth a thousand words so post them if you can. Enjoy.

Ok guys I had to pay photobucket to allow my pictures to be viewed again. Apparently I went over their 10g of hosting bandwidth in 2 weeks. Due to the high number of views to this thread... Didn't know it was possible till this posts pictures were blocked.. All photos are viewable now.

Here's my wicking tonight.. Spaced out my parallel coil to try, also got it down to 1.4 for the zmax.

null_zpsdaade570.jpg

Soaked, also when I primed it I put a drop on the wick turned it upside down and it did not
Drip off, after a few seconds it sucked the drop up into the wick.

null_zps2df70ad2.jpg

Adjusted the coils, and an hour later.. On hangsens Arabic tobacco.

Jeremy,

"Spaced out my parallel coil" I have been wonder about that myself. I have been using the compressed coils ever since I watched the first video on "Micro Coils" (an abused term in my opinion)

I started having second thoughts about it after noticing that coils supplied by Atty vendors are spaced and the pre-wound coils you can buy are all spaced out. One would think that Manufacturers and second source coil Manufacturers may know something that we don't.

Anyway sure would like to hear how the spacing performs for you.

PS - Your new pics the wick looks cleaner the closer it gets to the coil. Hmmm... do we have a paradox here.

We don't know how safe any of this is - every aspect of vaping falls in this category. We do know that, worst case scenario, it is 100 times or 1000 times better than smoking.

Few here are qualified to speak to the safety of using cotton, rayon or my grandma's old knickers as wick. One of the things we have all been pushing is official lab tests to get some answers on all of this. Folks like Dr. Farsalinos have only just begun on juices, there is a ton more work to do on juices, wick materials, coil materials, temperatures, etc.

In the meantime, we do what we can to make sure 1) the versions of whatever we choose to use as wick are free of any additives, or we have an effective means of removing said additives and 2) there is nothing potentially harmful in the material, like the safety concerns that have been brought up regarding certain types of ceramic wicks.

FWIW, I'm a relative stickler for safety, and I've been using CC for about a week now.
