Hi everybody. I've read several pages but I can't understand whether rayon or tencel would be preferable.

Also, any supplier found for Europe? Is CelluCotton a good choice?

Thanks!

Edit: by the way, Tencel is supposed to absorb 50% more than cotton: Lenzing - Textile Fibers - Moisture Control no wonder it wicks faster.

Standard rayon is far better for me haven't touch the tencel much that I've got. Medical rayon balls should be available world wide. :)

Still using the Rayon. Wicked a coil with KGD cotton and vaped for about an hour and pulled it out. No Comparison for me to the CC. CC all the way.. Much better flavor from Rayon, hands down.. Still have everything wicked with Rayon. No dry or burnt hits. No funny flavors.. It just works well on everything I put it in.. This is my second week using it and it outlasts cotton by a mile.. I am using Sallys by the way and nothing funny or off tasting to me.. I Don't soak or wash it first either.

me too .. I've been using Sally's CC for 2 weeks and it works fantastic, I'm a firm believer in rayon now.

Im curious as to how this might do on the russian. (Although im hooked on the reo now) kayfuns suffer from the inability to wick fast enough to be able to crank up the watts without getting burnt hit with silica or cotton. Rayon might just turn the russian into a cloud blower. Anyone acctually try this yet?

Works great in Kayfuns so it will do good in the Russian too..

Thanks might just try it when my vape mail brings me more diy stuff. Thanks to the op of this thread again I have noticed that I used to have slight asthma reactions with cotton and have had none of this with CC have not coughed or weezed for 24hours woot.

Rayon seems to be the choice as easier to work with. Tencel the choice for hopefully available in a medical grade or some such where it will be guaranteed free of "other stuff" but a source hasn't been found yet.

If you search back you can find an English poster who bought from Amazon UK. Also a German poster got lucky and found that one of the few Sally's stores was near him. Someone posted that the store locator showed a few in Spain. That's all I remember from the thread.

Yeah I haven't cared for the tencel. I believe the only difference we'll have with a usp USFDA grade rayon will be additional rinsing to remove all salts. Kinda like the difference between buying a bag of lettuce, or buying a triple washed bag.

Stupid delasco website requires being a business to order. I wanted to see how it compares to CCr.

I ordered rayon balls from Delasco as a consumer, it's just that they have a separate catalog for individuals and businesses. The shipping costs more than the balls, but altogether is only about $12 for 200 of them. Here's the link.

I Just got a sample of 80 % Rayon and 20 % cotton "rope" from a local Beauty Wholesaler. Wicks fine with klf+ with 30W, bit hot tough :)
Tencel would be nice to try but can't seem to find it online in Europe.

I contacted Company called Lenzing, which makes Tencel and also Rayon and asked them who could supply some Tencel in "cellucotton" form but that discussion is still ongoing.

Folks,

You might give all this searching for medical grade CC a second thought or call the Manufacturer to see if what you think you are getting is really what you will get.

I purchased some medical grade Long Wood Handle Q-Tips from Walgreens and that is exactly what I got. BUT - the package say they are not sterile and then tells you how to Autoclave them to make sanitary (medically speaking).

Remember that most of this stuff comes packaged in paper bags inside cardboard boxes not exactly impervious to contaminants.

It just seems to me that any product sold for use in and around the human body i.e. Sally's CC comes pretty clean and for sure as cleaner than any tobacco cigarettes (and filter material) you ever purchased. I lived in Kentucky and saw how tobacco was handled and processed... let me just say CLEAN was not a big consideration unless you consider a bail of hay clean.

Remember that anything used in a hospital environment and needs to be absolutely sterile comes sealed in special plastic containers and has a very, very high price tag due to the clean room handling. The cotton balls that the Nurse uses to clean your skin prior to an injection has been sitting in a jar loosely sealed for weeks then dipped in alcohol to clean the cotton and you.

Also you are going to take this CC material witch is at least as clean as a bar of soap (the same soap that you will peal the paper off of and then apply to some of the most extreme orifices on your body) and soak it in PG and Nicotine both of which are not friendly to any viral or microbe contaminants. Oh, and then heat the part you inhale to over a two hundred degrees F. Compare that to the recommend heat most meats and pre-prepared meals recommend which is typically 160 degrees F.

I am just saying that some of this cleanliness of the wicking material seems a little extreme when most of us have no idea what the cleanliness of our e-juice is albeit as I said most of the chemicals in juice are not friendly to living contaminants that doesn't mean it is pure and that it doesn't contain chemical and/or solid contaminants.

Rant over and out...

In my haste, and before properly reading the thread, I accidentally bought the reinforced version, box number 44070.
I've now seen that this is not recommended.

Anyone know why?

Oops... Been there done that. You also have to watch out they sell the stuff in pure cotton with the same name you have to check the box carefully.

Anyway I have never seen the reinforced stuff but I think it is just a paper strip. Can you just peal off the paper and use just the "Rayon" portion?

NHP-Surgi-Pak is sending me a sample of their Sterile Rayon balls. The minimum purchase is a $120 case. A case consists of 96 packs of 10 extra large Sterile Rayon balls, and it doesn't specify what size they are (dimensionally).

They also informed me that they would only be sterilized after I placed my order, and that the sample they were sending would NOT be sterile.

Hi all!

I believe this is my my first post outside of the new members forum! I feel so liberated!

I have been following this great thread for a while now and wanted to say thank you to everyone for the time and effort that has been put in to researching this wicking material and posting about it.

I have been and am still happily using organic cotton but am very interested trying out this CC rayon. I honestly can't seem to justify buying 500ft of the stuff so I was wondering if anyone is still willing to send out a sample that I can try. I will gladly cover shipping and some extra for the sample.

Please send me a PM if you don't mind parting with a fraction of your lifetime supply.

Thanks so much, back to lurking for now.

I wicked my Russian with it yesterday and it's working very well. (I've only been using the stuff for 24hrs) As I continue to read through the thread and to vape from the Russian I'm beginning to thing that I should rewick it again with a bit bigger wick. I think because I'm so used to cotton I may have not used enough rayon and parts of my coil may not be getting wet all the time.
I'm getting ready to rewick it in just a few minutes so I'll try to get back to let you know. But so far even with my first rayon Russian wick I'm very impressed
