When I went to Sallys the young lady took me to their little "cotton section." No CC boxes. The CC boxes were not in this section but around the corner on another upper shelf in another section of the store so don't fall for that one. I drove 30 mins through Austin traffic and there was no way I was walking out of there without the Golden Fleece...lol

That's funny, I had the same experience. I was looking around and a young gal asked if she could help, I told her I was looking for rayon warps and she too took me to a small selection of small bags of cotton wraps. I told her that was the stuff I was looking for but they were cotton, not rayon. I asked if that was all the wraps they carried and told her I heard they had big boxes of wraps (I couldn't remember the brand name), she said that's all they had. I said OK and I told her I was going to look around, I found the CC a couple aisles over. Those CC boxes aren't really small, I don't know how anyone could miss them. There was another gal more, ahum..., my age and I heard her ask the first what I was looking for, they both acted surprised when I walked up to the counter so I don't think either knew what they carried.

LOL---yea, you could fit a basketball in that box. I showed her a pic of the box with the light blue top emblazened with "CELLUCOTTON" and she still said "noooooo, I don't think so. Let me check in the back." I had originally thought all the vapors were at the store coming out in droves with their newly found boxes-o-rayon fibers...

I went to two of my local B&M's today with my box and a pair of skizzers and was cutting off free samples to anyone that wanted some. The owners and all the workers took a bunch off me...I told them "YOU HAVE NOOOO IDEA HOW AMAZING THIS STUFF WICKS." It was fun...

I think you have to call them "beauty coils," not "wraps" (they sell both). The "wraps" are little sheets that you put on hair before you roll it, the "coils" are what keeps the solution from dripping onto your face. You just have to speak THEIR language, that's all.

This, from someone who used to spend all her paychecks at the beauty salon. It was the '80s. We ALL had big hair back then.

Your pic shows too much bulge between the coil and deck. EDIT is that the diaper?

Twist tight about an inch of rayon to feed into the tank through the coil. Use a pin or paper clip or something to feed the untwisted wick down into the coil enough to get into the tank. Trim the top like your picture.

For a 5/64 2mm coil I use a piece as wide as a Sharpie pen. 1/16 a pencil wide.

Yep - that bulge is the 'diaper' - not from too much CC going through the coil and bulging.

With all due respect, it looks like just too much wick overall. I use just enough wick in the coil to hold it in place then my wicks going into my tanks barely touch the walls of the holes going into the tanks...My wicks remain wet and atomizing...I have tried the wicks to the bottom, middle and near the top of the tank. It works best halfway and yes, I tilt when I have to...

Yikes! "With all due respects" was too kind of an opening line - thanks for the feedback. But I think the 'diaper' I put around the bottom and perhaps the picture in general is deceiving. The amount of CC going through the deck is really pretty sparse. The deck hole and coil I.D. diameter are the same and there was a lot of 'space' showing showing in the coil when I looked at it. It wasn't even coming close to filling up the inside of the coil.

I was aiming for just what you said about the wick going through the deck "barely touch the walls of the holes going into the tanks".

Base on both your comments (PaulBHC & WharfRat1976) seems I'm on the right path for wicking up a Genny - a bit more trial and error

OK... MikeE3 I'll add my two cents.

Unless the bottom of the coil is hidden by the diaper I think your coil is too high off the deck.

I usually have better luck with the coil right down on the deck. i.e. The coil lead that comes from the ground post lays flush on the deck and only slightly starts to rises up on the first turn right over the wick hole.

This does two things it help stop any leaks around the wick like a diaper does and it puts more heat lower on the wick where most of the juice is.

Also make sure you leave a vent hole open for the tank to breath. I have a trick for that two if your interested.

I don't want to go off track but I've just got to share, I got my order from myfreedomsmokes with the DIY black raspberry flavor and it's great mixed and vaped right away! It's damn good as matter of fact! I can't wait to see what some steeping time will do, I mixed ten drops to 15ml.

OK, we now take you back to the show in progress....

Thanks - Basically I agree with your comments. And if I were winding an 'open' coil I would pretty much do what you're saying. But w/ a micro coil, if I lower the coil close to the deck, I'd have a very long + lead to the top of the + post. There's no coil under the 'diaper' and as it is now both the + and - leads from the coil are actually longer than I like. I just didn't want the + lead any longer than it already is and potentially be a hot spot.

i've actually got 2 vent holes. The deck has 2 wick holes and I'm only using 1, and I've left the fill screw out so that's the 2nd vent hole.

Hey - come on - ya can't tease about having a trick w/o sharing it.

Oh-No not so quick I am waiting on my MFS order unflavored nic 50/50 and Sweet cherry flavoring (MFSs' Brand). I am glad to here yours is good. Now all I have to worry about is the "sweet" cherry being too sweet with rayon - but I like sweet.

Now back to the normally scheduled programming ;)

Here is my rayon wicking into my bottom feeder. It worked well but due to the twisted coils I had to add a little more wick into the coils.

First attempt at an iClear 30 top dual coil. Removed the mile long silica tentacles. Decided to clip the wicks short like a kanger because the rayon wicks so well. Works much better than stock. At least with the juice I put in. 2.2Ω coil at 7.5 watts on MVP. I have gone to 9 before with these to try to get performance. Now to see if this leaks after a day or two.

WharfRat are you using the rayon to insulate? No need to pulse?

Paul, I have done that build with cotton rolled onto the ss so tried it with rayon---I burn and juice burn my ss500 prior to install so no shorting. I am using the rayon for flavor...Halfway through the tank and probably my best rayon experience so far...WoW!!

Nice move here Paul....I am going to give it a go with my iclear as well...Is the flavor incredible or just really good?

Well... first with the coil. I am really lazy so I use ready wire the stuff you buy as 1.8, 2.0 or 2.4 ohms and it has about 50 mm of nickel wire spot welded to the Kanthal wire which eliminates long lengths of dressed resistance wire. It is dirt cheap $10 bucks for 50 premade. I use them because I also know enough about ohms law and hot spots to obsessed over it also.

Now back to pure resistance wire I do obsess over the long length to the positive terminal. If your are using 28 - 30 ga that 3/8 of an inch is a pretty small percentage of the overall resistance and I have found that if you come off the coil and maintain a small smooth arc from the coil onto the positive terminal you won't have "Hotspot" problems. Then don't think about it anymore just keep saying to yourself over and over I am not wasting energy, I am not wasting energy... at infinitum and it won't bother you all the way to the nut house. Just kidding once you have done it a couple of times you won't even give it a second thought.

Now for the somewhat anticlimactic trick... I use the tip off of a plastic e-juice bottle, the kind that has the long thin slightly tapered type, not the kind that looks like the nipple off a dolls baby bottle. Any way just trim off the flange with a pair of scissors or electrical snips (I leave a little flange so I can use my nails to pull it out). Take this and insert into the filler hole with a little pressure. You now have a vent cap that has a hole in it about the size of a sawing needle and unless your vaping something with a viscosity of zero you can lay it down and not worry about leaks. I told you very anticlimactic but functional.

Paul, where does your iclear leak? When it does....

Right out the bottom. I've fussed with this thing for months. Put it away, get it out. Bought some coils so now I feel I have to try to like it. The swivel tip holds a lot of condensation. After about 2ml of the 3ml, I take the top of and let it drain. Sometimes overnight. Wipe the rubber cap. Refill to the line. Next thing you know, gurgle, sputter, whistle and wheeze. Take it off the battery and liquid in the well. Blow forever, sometimes works, sometimes not.

I've gone to higher VG and thought it cured it but no.
