Dusty_D,
I would venture an opinion that the 28 GA will outperform the 26 GA.
The rational is two coils with the same resistance and the same applied power the one with the most mass will take longer to heat up and cool down. I think from the lessons you folks gave me about letting go of the button first thingy that a lot of the crud build up is during the heat up cool down cycle.
Unless you intend to go cloud chasing at 30 watts (which does appeal to me) I would stick with the 28 GA or even 30 GA. 30 GA is almost instant on off.

Also I would try a helical coil apposed to a compressed coil with each wrap about a half the diameter of the wire away from the last turn kind of thing. I have convince myself that the rayon works better that way. In the helix mode the juice is not forced out the ends of the coil but allowed to escape over the length of the coil. Consider a tight coil as a pressure cooker the liquid will steam at a higher temperature because it is trying to buck the entire length of the coil building pressure to escape at the ends of the coil.
I have seen some "Tripper" builds and he used ribbon wire to enhance the venting at the end of the coils by slightly overlapping the ribbon wire creating the equivalent of a piece of pipe. It was cool to watch and "Tripper" can make anything look and sound cool. He would probably vape Jell-O if he thought it would make a good video.
PS - I don't think "Tripper" ever goes below 30 watts. It must be a genetic thing I think his father worked on the Manhattan Project.
