Wonder if it was this guy wicking it, real fun starts at 2 min on this one but keep watching after that.
Hahaha way too much funny all in one sitting... He almost took a pull on that at 6V but he checked it at the last moment.

HolmanGT: you're not building a nuclear reactor. Yes the motor will suffer a bit but not that much. Instead of using two rounded magnets that just look good, try a single flat piece of a neodymium magnet that has both poles facing upwards (3.5 inch hard drives hint, hint!). Put the magnet on the motor cap and notice how it will center itself on it. Turn on the motor at it's LOWEST setting for just two seconds to check for any vibration. If there isn't, Mark the position and glue the magnet with some epoxy. Done.

Btw, I'm using a motor of a 120mm fan... Since you're cutting the fins, the center should still be small enough to fit (and the motor is better than of those 80mm).

Sorry for the off-topic.

OK, now was this a SERIOUS vid that ended up being funny as hell, or was this guy deliberately trying to be funny?
I can never tell with some of these vids.

I have no idea if it was serious or a joke. I am just glad he didn't take a pull off it when it caught fire. It might have been his last review -EVER.

Hahaha hahaha

I wet myself again... Lol... I'm laughing like an idiot at 1 am in my bed while my wife is looking at me with those "I have to get him to a shrink" eyes.

You know what the most funny thing of that last video is?

It's not the fact he incinerated his wick and tried to blow it out

It's not that he actually vaped on it after a couple of minutes and almost choked to death

It's not that he tried to act as a Chinese version of Riptripper

It was the fact that after all those fails, he still published it on YouTube!!

Hahaha hahaha

My ribs are starting to hurt.... Oh God...

"think taxes, think taxes, think taxes... " ok, I'm better now... :)

Yeah tchavei your right, it is amazing he posted and has left the video up for so long, I don't think he has a clue just how many people are making fun of him.

OK, you guys have hit my tinkering nerve and now (thanks to you) I've got to find info and build one of these stirring things! Can you guys point me toward DIY info or tell me key words to google on building one of these stirrer's? I have dozens of these cooling fans in all sizes and plenty of dead hard drives, what else do I need? Then we need to get back on topic before Jeremy has us all booted LoL. :offtopic: :rules:

I do love to thinker but damn it this is bad timing for me to be distracted with yet another project, it's finally been in the 40's for the last five days, half the snow is gone. My thoughts are to getting my rifle & handguns ready, more bullets cast and some ammo reloaded, soon the snow will be off the range and it will be time to feel some recoil again! Plus I need to clean out the winter's mess in the shop, I get something fixed, drop everything and leave a mess behind when it's cold out there, it looks like a hurricane hit the shop. I need to get the snow blower off the tractor, prep the mower deck and get the boat out of storage too. God I'm so happy to get outside again, I just feel better, like a grizzly waking from a long winter hibernation.

Before JeremyR kicks us all out:

1. You have plenty of YouTube videos and blogs about making a magnetic stirrer. Just Google magnetic stirrer diy.

2. All you need is a computer fan, a magnet that you can remove from a hard-drive (there are usually two around the needle assembly) or you can buy a couple of round ones. You also need a power supply, a case to hold it all and a pot or variable regulator is welcome.

3. The only thing you really should buy are some PTFE coated stir bars. For a few cute tests you even can use a screw or metal bit but to mix anything food grade like eLiquid, I wouldn't trust a metal piece spinning in it. They are quite cheap so get a few in different sizes. I have one 30mm long and one 15mm long. The smaller is good to stir your morning coffee :)

Good luck :)

Of course not, you should use grains as a small unit of weight. Hint: There are 7000 grains to a pound.
Which one? French grain, jeweler's grain or pre 1572 grain?

See? That's why I like the metric system... It actually makes sense lol :D

The NATO standard one, where a 9mm bullet weighs 124 grains. :D

Oh, I understand perfectly. I'm from Europe originally and was transplanted to the US in the middle of second grade, by which time I was perfectly comfortable with all the metric weights and measurements. Then I had to learn stuff like 12 inches to a foot, but 16 ounces to a pound, and 5280 feet to a mile. Now much does a gallon of water weigh? My reaction: What clown came up with this? Oh, wait, I know: The same clown that came up with the rules that correlate spelling and pronunciation in English!

Thank you! Look's like I have everything but the stir bars! Well out to the shop in the morning! :)
