So this morning I had to come into work. Before I left I knew I had to rewick but didn't want to be late. So I grabbed some cellucotton and some of @slavkov's DM rayon balls since I haven't used them in a while. Rewicked a few min ago with the DM rayon and holy cow. I guess I was doing it wrong before, because this wick job is much better than the cellucotton rewicks I've been doing. No break in means my density is perfect and the flavor is on point.

I just placed an order with Unkamen for 28g and 26g Grade 1 Ti, it should be much better than fighting with Ni 200 on the eVic VTC mini...

I would have thrown in a spool of 28g SS430, never know when you might want to give it a go in the future. It's only $5 for 200ft currently.

Thanks!
I never thought of adding the SS wire, shipping is cheap to Canada from them so IF a supporting firmware comes out I'll have to get some Pronto! :D

I agree, the non-sale price will probably be less than $10

I'm in the process of switching all my stuff over to stainless, so far I am happy with it over kanthal. It is also performing flawlessly in TC mode, I have no reference for other wire in TC though. I may try titanium but I will never vape Ni200, no nickel for me :)

I can't believe how rock solid the resting resistance is, my kanthal builds fluctuate a little but so far stainless hasn't.

Hi everyone,
Like Jeremy said, Rayon performs best right around 13 watts. But now my vape is way hotter than I like. What do I do? Switch to thicker wire from 28 gauge? Even with 26 gauge, I will need a coil wrapped at least 9 turns - way too many turns for a Kayfun. Any thoughts/alternatives?

Either way you try to get around it with so much more juice at the coil with rayon, it will need a little more power to heat the coil the same. Juice cools the coil.

Rayon is usually best for taking it to the next level. Increasing power levels above that which can be achieved with cotton.

So at 10w was it too wet then? not wanting to vaporize? It really shouldn't be warmer at 13 because there should be more juice keeping the coil cooler.. Can you settle at 11.5 maybe?

It's a fine balance and with rayon it can be tailored to fit your exact needs.. It's just a matter of creating each aspect of the wick to fit the need.

There is a bit of a problem helping you because most of us are vaping at the higher levels. Reason being, the higher you go the more issue's you have with cotton. So we switch to rayon..

I can say that I have never vaped with rayon below 15w.

My first inclination to your issue would be a smaller diameter coil so there is less wick in the coil, or less juice held in the coil.

It tastes fine at 10-11 watts, but much better at higher watts. One solution might be to adapt to warmer vapes.
I will see what I can do with smaller diameter. It might work. Thanks.

I do watch Obi's vids sometimes, but mostly out of curiousity about the accuracy of the numbers and the oscilloscope stuff, that he does pretty good and I do apprechiate it.
On the other Hand, it's hard to endure an entire vid of his, because frankly, he is kinda boring. His slooow as molasses talking isnt helping much either.
Anyways, I'll have a look at the vid later when I can. Currently on vacation and the wife will prolly get angry if I start watching vape vids right now, heh.
Is OBi the Dampfer Sofa guy? Watch it with CC turned on in English. It's really funny.

Most of the time I'm vaping at around 8W on 1.6 - 1.7Ω coil (Ø 2mm) with rayon stuffed in pretty dense.
Can't say I've had any issues, no over saturating, no dry hits, pretty solid vape for someone who likes
vaping at that range of wattage and resistance.

I had problems at first when I started a couple of weeks ago, but gradually getting adjusted.

I hear you. Coming from cotton, I've also had issues with rayon regarding amount of wick, tail
shape and density and what not. But following some great advice from this thread helped me a lot.

Some people don't want to bother with rayon 'cos it take some time and effort to get it right,
especially when switching from other wicking materials, but I personally find it worthwhile.

You already got some great advice here, so I can't help you much any further.
All I can say is stick with it and you'll get to it :)

I recently gave some of my older equipment to a friend of mine and rewicked old Kanger heads with Rayon. It works pretty well, why wouldnt it?
Oh yeah I did do kanger heads at 8-10w for my wife and it worked fine.. Forgot..
First couple pages of the thread.. Lol.
Yup they work pretty great for those single coil kangers like the mini protank and so on. Those damn things gunk up easy though I just can't get the life out of them that I can do on the bigger coils. Really depends on the juice though also.
