This is confusing me. I know I saw a chart on the Reo forum for compatible RBAs. Why would such a thing exist if you could throw any of them on there?
Also, correct me if I'm wrong reoppl but, doesn't the rba even if open posted need to fit within the diameter of the reo"cup"....

you are so silly :)

The REO has the best RBA at a reasonable price so idk why anyone would look for any cheap ones. The Chalice fits and it is way expensive plus hard to find. Any way all that info is easily found on the REO forum if you really care about an answer.

Thanks for not answering the question in any way shape or form and just a useless defensive reply. Maybe read a bit and see that I haven't attacked your REO God at all. It's your opinion of the best rba and not a fact. I cared about an answer but, reo representatives as yourself earn the reputation of provari owners of bottom feeders...

Chill. Didn't you see the smiley? Who's defensive here?

It's the opinion of nearly 100% of reonauts and that of many, if not most bogger box users.

Hey Eddie :)
since the grand is the mod that bottomfed RBAs are designed around (I mean, what other bottom fed mod would you design one around ?) they all fit it. The problem is that the smaller REOs have a smaller diameter catch cup. That's why there's that thread in the REOsmods forum.

The original 14500 mini had a very small cup and the 2.0 has a slightly larger one. Woodvils all vary. Those mods were designed before RBA's were common. The new small REOs (mini 2.1) have a larger catchcup than a grand :)

Since REOs last indefinitely, many people pick up older models off the classies so that list helps them know what will work with their model too :)

Dude, it's time you joined us over there bro. I think you would make some great contributions :). And musichead too.

They're nice and I plan on getting a grand. Thanks for actually answering my question. Is there a way to get an a rba that's wider than the cup to work? I'm wondering if my modded trident would work. I'm almost a 100% sure it's wider than the cup... I'm liking dual coils but, it's airy. My other question is have you tried a SS wick in your reo rba? I still prefer SS... thanks

I've been checking the classies frequently for a reo. Lol my vape bill is already astronomical and I can't justify another$200 at the moment for a new grand, reomizer, and repair kit... which is especially annoying because I have money in that nightmare AFPV co-op...

The smiley face doesn't change the post. Not answer the question, assume I'm just attacking the reo, tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, and that I didn't have an actually question but, just a passive aggressive way of showing the reo's possible shortcomings.

It was anything but, an attack on the reo...

Eddie, I have heard of people using adapters to accommodate oversize RBAs but have no direct experience.

You can save the repair kit money (you wont need that for years). and just order a REO and a spring bro. I will front you one of my spare RM2's and you can just Paypal me when you get a spare $43 bro. I'll ship it to ya with a proper microcoil and cotton wick so you can see how it rolls.

No SS experience bro, went straight to cotton and except for a week of Nextel, it's all I ever used :)

Very generous man. I have a bunch of 1mm hemp twine. Really liked it. What diameter are your microcoils? Have you tried"slanting" them? I'll send it back with a SS wick if I find it doable..sorry for all the questions

Good to know about the kit. Just like being prepared. Birthday is coming up so maybe can justify a grand...

One last question, I'm favoring wrinkle finish because of the "grip" factor, does the smooth finish on the REO slip in hand?

Sorry if i offended you, but I really didn't/don't know all about the other RBAs so that is why i suggested going to read at the REO Forum. I only care about the reomizer2 because it is all i will ever use. In the REO forum is where you can get answers from many people who are interested in all the things you want to know about the REO and RBAs.

I think super_X_drifter knows everything and he posts in the REO forum and contributes a lot of his info for youtube tuterials plus has a lot of threads about RBA stuff :)

be happy :D

I can't help you with the smooth powder coated finish, but the tumbled raw aluminum (very smooth) doesn't slip in my hand. The tumbled finish is only visual... I can't feel it. I can let it get beat up with other stuff in my pocket and polish it out if I want. Out of habit, I've always kept my little finger curled under the mod, though, so slipping isn't an issue with any of them.

There's also a middle ground between the smooth and the wrinkle, the veined. It's a shiny but textured finish that feels a little slick with VG on it, but it still has good grip. The silver vein I have is about 80% black, with the silver looking like reflection, and it goes well with chrome or stainless. The copper vein shows more of two colors (copper and black) and goes better with a dechromed brass RM2. The silver is more low profile while the copper is more attention getting (it's beautiful).

Eddie, I typically run 1/16" ID micro coils. Lately I've dropped down to a 17 ga and most recently a piece of music wire that is right in between 17 & 18 ga. They perform stellar with rolled cotton - it'll amaze ya. If using 30 ga wire, I run about 13 or 14 wraps - 2ish ohms. With 27 ga, I run about 10 wraps 1ish ohms.

I slant them slightly along them along the horizontal plane so they are slightly higher over the juice hole. I don't like vert setups.

I have a wrinkle and I really like the slightly tactile feel to it. I also have a hammertone and it too has texture. I have a smooth too and it is not slippery. They all rock :)

I follow pdib's recommendation of 8 wraps around a 1/16" drill bit or 16 gauge filler needle of whatever gauge and material gets me the resistance I want. 8 wraps is a good balance between getting sufficient wire to wick to juice contact without getting so much mass the coil is slow to heat. I've played around plus and minus but keep coming back to this. Here's a chart I made based on my 0.5Ω 26AWG Nichrome 60 coil and Temco's specs:

Code:
An 8/7 wrap micro coil on a Reomizer 2:
26 AWG Nichrome 60 = 0.5Ω @ 0.1272" wide
based on the above:
26 AWG Kanthal A1 = 0.6Ω @ 0.1272" wide
27 AWG Kanthal A1 = 0.8Ω @ 0.1136" wide
28 AWG Nichrome 60 = 0.8Ω @ 0.1008" wide
28 AWG Kanthal A1 = 1.0Ω @ 0.1008" wide
29 AWG Kanthal A1 = 1.2Ω @ 0.0904" wide
30 AWG Nichrome 60 = 1.3Ω @ 0.0800" wide
30 AWG Kanthal A1 = 1.6Ω @ 0.0800" wide
31 AWG Kanthal A1 = 2.0Ω @ 0.0712" wide
32 AWG Nichrome 60 = 2.0Ω @ 0.0640" wide
32 AWG Kanthal A1 = 2.5Ω @ 0.0640" wide

Different leg length could vary these ± 0.1Ω due to rounding.

I'd torch any of these first with a $4 Ronson Jetlite Torch butane lighter.
Burns off nasty tasting machining oil and makes it easier to work with.

IMHO, I wouldn't use anything thinner than 30AWG on a mechanical REO YMMV

Let me add this... if I could only have two spools of wire, it would be the 26 AWG Nichrome 60 and the 27 AWG Kanthal A1 Russ sent me a sample of. The Nichrome makes for a crisp, clean taste, massive at that gauge, and is perfect for Pluid and my DIY Absinthe (0.5Ω). The Kanthal, at least in 27 AWG at that resistance (0.8Ω), is perfect for my tobacco blends with vapor like 60 ring-gauge cigar smoke, and is smooth--it's right up there with my silkiest smoke cigars.

Edit to add for completeness.

The Pluid is uncut 20mg and the DIY stuff, including tobacco blends, is 50/50 24mg.

Ok just bought a XL and a 2.0. How anyone could mentionthese in the same sentence as an REO is beyond me.
Before I throw these things in the trash, which, if any,rda will work on the Vmod without having to modify the shell?

I see you have owned a Reo for awhile.

I was quite surprised at this post. Perhaps a little study would be a good idea instead of buying a mod and then trashing it before you learn a thing about it.
