I know it might have been discussed, but I was curious if anything has had a bad reaction to using a mod in public or if the consensus is, don't.

Bad = "Holy **** he's got a BOMB!"

Pro, DIY...whatever. I think they all have a certain movie "bomb detonator" or home made grenade look to them. I would definitely leave them at home and not bring them through airport security, even for just the sake of avoiding a hassle at best.

Sure once you start sucking on it people may dismiss it as some new medical device, like a mini nebulizer or something. But pulling said device out on a street corner, or in a crowded subway station.....I just don't know if I'd have the gall.

How do you guys deal with that? What is your experience?

on a serious note though... I really don't get bothered too much even during my travels
I mean I don't flaunt it out everywhere I go... I am still cool about it.... I usually get questioned when I am actually talking to someone and pull it out and take a hit with out even thinking about it... but for the most part people mind their business... maybe I am intimidating or something i don't know

I had a guy in Wal-Wart stare at me the whole time I was in the checkout........Could have been that I was vaping from a Time-Warner Cable Remote........Could have been me picking my nose. LOL

He followed me out, inquired about it.......then told me he had quit smoking years ago, but now wants to get an e-cig to vape juice with no nicotine. He said he liked smoking, just not the health risks.

haha 420 you and I have something in common and it's not what you're talking about here.... anyway I wouldn't suggest it to him either way, could lead him back to cigs. Not really likely but I'd prefer not to get someone that quit back into the habit of smoking again.

I dont think anyone would have a problem with a mod made by one of the suppliers here. They hardly look anything like a bomb. However, I did see one guy make a mod out of a peice of galvanized pipe with galvanized caps at either end. I think airport security would probably pull you aside and strip search you before throwing you out of the airport with a mod like that.

I think that quality and materials would make a huge difference in this. A magnum flashlight mod would most likely be mistaken for a flashlight until you actually vape with it. One that looks like an unpainted steel pipe with end caps and a PT wire hanging off the end going to your battery pack in your pocket with a visible switch could easily be mistaken for a "device".

I tend to think that using my Chuck being that it is shiny, metallic green, and obviously a finished product would cause far less problems. I would assume most other professional mods would be the same.

I recently took my Chuck through the airport in my carry-on luggage and it was a tiny bit exciting. When my bag went through the x-ray the dude manning it got really big eyes and called for a supervisor. I got taken off to a secondary screening area and they opened my bag and pulled out my big black wrinkle finish Chuck. Took a good look at it and returned it to my bag without comment. Guess it wasn't all that scary.

As I'm a big dude with a beard, I usually get "randomly chosen" for secondary screening anyway so it wasn't a big deal. My Bartleby (it's a 2AA box type nicostick) in my pocket went completely unnoticed. OTOH, I did get a nice pat down as a bonus. :cool:
