Welcome dgmcferrin I am all about simple it is what drove me to build mods

Thank you, sir! I feel honored to be personally welcomed by a person spoken so highly of in the ECF community.

I'm trying to decide if I should order now or wait for some more colors to come available... Doubting I can be that patient though.

Eenie, meenie, minie, mo. Whatever you get, it'll end up being the one you wanted....you won't even remember that you had other choices. The colors are all cool, but it's the function that you will fall in love with. Besides, any of them will be more beautiful in person than you can imagine from the pictures. Also......if you don't get the color you want, there's a REAL good chance that you can get THAT color on the next one.......just sayin'

I was a dripper myself at one time and thought that was the end game. Hell, it was only the top of the 3rd. Got my Grand in early Jan and never looked back. Color??? Got, a blem and color choice was miniscule. If I had known they were this good, I'd settle for a camouflaged (no offense to duck dynasty crew) model, after being in the service for so long, ya get a bit tired of it. Got a Black/Silver Grand and a Metallic Purple VV Grand (talk about extremes), and love 'em both to death.

Plus you get to join us here, best dog gone place in the whole ecf. Decent, friendly, generous and helpful, kind o' folk. That's the secret to a REO, the folks that stand behind them brother, and yep, you can take that to the bank!!!

Welcome, dgmcferrin :)

I know it's been said already...but figured I'd drop some change here as well.

I am the laziest vaper I know. I hated dripping, topping off cartos, blue foam, batteries that didn't last, blah, blah, blah. Honestly, I NEEDED vaping to be easier than smoking. Logically, I shouldn't have cared as long as it worked, but I know how I am...so there it is. I'm lazy...and lazy was going to kill me sooner than later if I didn't find another way to deal with the addiction. I'm coming up on 3 years smoke free in a few months....and it was the Reo that got me there. Because, it was easier than smoking.

That being said, do expect a small learning curve...it takes a bit to get used to this different way of vaping. Most folks can adapt easily. Just take your time, and be sure to come ask questions if something isn't working how you expect. As you can see...we're all a little passionate about our gear...and we want to share our success with anyone who will listen. :D

Nice colors on that REO :). Yes, I'd say your set on wire for a while alright !

Here's a little procedure I started to do:

Snip about (20) 4" lengths of wire.
Turn on burner on gas cook top.
Grab a pair of hemostats, a big cup of water and a plate.
Torch a piece of wire until its red using the gas burner.
Dip in the water.
Repeat burn then dip two more times.
Drop on plate.
Now do the other 19 pieces the same way.
Turn off gas cooktop.

Takes about 10 minutes and you'll have a nice little Baggie of ready to use wire when your done.

I have found that having this "ready" wire encourages more frequent rebuilds and experimental builds. I have probably built, mounted and tore out 6 or 7 coils this week alone for no reason other than because I just felt like it. :)

It also feels more dignified than standing in the bathroom torching a piece with a bic and running it under the faucet. :)

yeah the color, hmm it had a little mishap, was recoiling the rm2 and for no obvious reason i put the top cap down on the reo's door, when everything was ready i put on the top cap and the door just to find a ring on it. some how the top cap had created a ring dead center of the door.
i tried to polish it of but soon gave up and thought i could live with it but last night i tried a dab och my fiancees nailpolishr emover, the ring disappeared but the color turned to a much darker gray which looks pretty good actually, just used a q-tip but i got it all even i like it

It is that easy :)

I leave the house all the time with just a REO .... One thing is even better than the smokes and a lighter.
I never take a back up anything with me unless its an overnight trip .... I've always been lucky and never needed it.
And if something fails me I can go a whole day without vaping its not a big deal to me.

Just proves to me that I was addicted to all the other crap in cigs not the nic ......
I vape now because I enjoy the hobby not because I need the nic fix.

A Grand with a LR 510 atomizer is a fine vape.

A Grand with a RBA is even better. I'd say, for me, it was the same experience I had when I switched from cartos to attys.

Being able to easily replace a wick and coil for a few pennies rather than dip into a stash of $5 to $9 disposable attys (that may or may not vape worth a damn) is a no brainer.

Take advantage of the wonderful options available to you that weren't available when I started vaping in 2010. Get yourself some Kanthal, Silica, and an RM2. The atty and the juice are the weak links in getting the best vape possible from a Reo Grand. Rob took care of the atty issue. The juice is another can of worms.

Just so happens I ordered a LR 510 along with batteries and a charger from RTD. I think I'll be content with Atty's for a while... I'm not completely opposed to trying out an RBA at some point, especially with how easy you all are making it sound.

Hey, I totally understand your motivation. It's why I got my first Grand. We're recommending RBA's b/c we're a bunch of Reo Divas and we can't be wrong about anything. :p

Enjoy it, my friend, whichever atty you use. :thumb:

You will be very happy with the simplicity of the REO with just an atty! I love my RBA's but also still enjoy the "just slap it on" ease of atty use. I take my Grands to work with RBA's but carry atty's along just cause they are so simple and quick.

Learning the squonking is a lot easier with an atty or cartos. The blind squonk works well and soon you will be squonking without even thinking!

I know you will soon join us in our quest to get a REO in the hands of all vapers!
