How is sub-ohm becoming less descriptive? If the resistance is below one ohm, it's always going to be sub-ohm. The advances in technology do not change that simple fact. Plain and simple. Car tech has changed dramaticly since it's invention but it's still a car. Or perhaps you would like to call it a mobility aparatus.

The term subohm has historically meant subohm *mech* vaping which implies other variables, most importantly wattage and coil mass. With the advent of devices that can control power independently of load resistance in the <1 ohm range, these other variables are no longer represented by the term "subohm." So whereas before it inherently described a whole "style" of vaping, it no longer does.

DNA 20 mods, mech mods, vamo, vv ego, couple egos, etc.

the DNA20 mods are the ones that are really enlightening, the ability to drive power through such a wide variety of resistances taught me a lot.

Care to elaborate on which mechanical mods?

And at certain sub ohm res.'s the DNA20 chip no longer works and dumps all the batteries power to the atty. So,the DNA20 is no longer driving power thru anything.

It still means exactly what it says and not what device you are using it on. If the coils resistance is less than one ohm, it is sub-ohm vaping regardless of the device. It's sub-ohm on a mech just the same as it is on a DNA20 device. It is what it is. If you achieve 20 watts on a two ohm coil you achieve high wattage with a super-ohm coil. If you're getting the exact same wattage at .8 ohms it's still high wattage. It was just achieved with a sub ohm coil. The argument is solely about the term sub-ohm. Theoretically, if you have a 1 volt power source and vape at low wattage but the coil is less than one ohm, it's sub-ohm. You then can not call it high wattage vaping.

Now now.... Play nice.

Do tell us.

Nah, not interested in talking about mechs. They are not my preferred vaping devices.

And?

You are both right and wrong. The second half of what you said is what I have been saying. The first part isn't correct because "subohm" as it has been used represents subohm *mech* vaping which includes other factors and effects.

The argument is not about the literal definition of subohm, people who can't come up with a relevant point have resorted to playing that as a reductio ad absurdum card. Clearly subohm to them means more than just the resistance of the coil or they would not have spent half the thread trying to argue that it was a "different vape."

The OP went over the definition. I covered your post above in my first post of the thread (post #9).

The point I'm making is sub-ohm vaping is sub-ohm vaping regardless of hardware and as such really can't be disputed. It has come to mean using a mech because the majority of regulated devices were incapable of firing a load of less than one ohm. Even speaking in terms of sub ohm meaning vaping with a mech at less than one ohm, mechs are still here and they will continue to be. if you want to run a dna20 with a sub one ohm coil and call it high wattage vaping to note the difference, that's fine. but there is no logical reason to drop the term sub-ohm. There is also no logical reason to insist we change a term just to make you happy. Very relevant point, but thanks for insulting my intelligence.

There is no "and".That was the point i was making that your DNA20 is not driving power thru a sub ohm coil, the battery is.

EDIT: replied on the wrong one. This was for dr.g's previous post.

You dont like my tactic of repeating what Sub Ohm means...

then prove that your tangential argument is is true...

I've asked you, others have asked you, in this thread and others... But I have yet to see your mythical super ohm, 6" of wire, coil

So show us.

Because I stopped taking your argument seriously when you stopped supporting the community by refusing to explain your technique so others could evaluate/adopt it.

Until then, I'll just continue to chalk this thread up to a rudimentary troll on your part.

I explained the build to the extent anyone needs to know to replicate it.

No one has ever seen a coil of the type your describe.

It leads everyone that reads your refusals to provide proof to speculate that you are in fact discussing a theoretical coil.

We learned from experience that theory isn't always true in practice when we moved to sub ohm vaping...

I propose that there is a reason the "micro coil" thread is long... and there is not a similar "mega coil" thread.

But, if that's your decision... I get it.

You're a troll.

Thanks for playing.

It has not "come to mean" mech, it started out as mech. Big difference.

High wattage notes the LACK of a difference. When the coil is above 1 ohm it's a good reason, the reason for this discussion is that with the advent of high power boards and expanded understanding of coil building, comparable results can be had below or above 1 ohm.

There is no "and".That was the point i was making that your DNA20 is not driving power thru a sub ohm coil, the battery is.

I've seen it and use it regularly, so not no one. Anyone who follows the very simple description I wrote can see one too.

I posted a picture of a similar one in the working coils thread a while back, I honestly can't be arsed to find it.

um... I've never seen 6+ inches of wire used in a coil...

Show me 1 photo... doesn't have to be yours... just any photo of this.

That's funny.

This is all a silly argument. The terms people use are the terms people use. How about steeping juice? it isn't actually a steeping process at all, but people know what it means. There is a bit of a learning curve at the front end of this vaping stuff for people to learn what all these garbage terms mean, but to get cranky about it when the majority of the people in the conversation understand the language being used is a waste of time and energy.

I posted how to do it, if you don't believe me that's fine. I'm not going to waste time with pictures when I've aleady written a clearer description than a photo will provide.

Actually the majority of the people DON'T understand the language, subohm means strictly resistance but most people in this thread conflate it with other things. Except of course when they are called on on conflating it with other things, then they claim it strictly means resistance. And then they don't realize that in admitting that, they are agreeing with the point they are trying to argue against.

Found it.

30ga 15 wraps, 3.2 ohms on a loop of 3mm regular silica

Shocker! It's not the coil you and I discussed in this thread.

The simple fact that it uses 30gauge is a huge issue.

If you're building 0.6 with 30 gauge, you really don't understand sub ohm vaping.

This is the only point i have been arguing the whole time. It's you who are flipping on the issue time and again.

So which is it my man?
