Depends on how "compatible" juices are. If I absolutely want to not taste any of the old juice, I have to give my Reo a bath. Take the atomizer off, battery and bottle out, and wash it out thoroughly. And wash out the atomizer.
If the wick in my atomizer is cotton, I take it out, dry-burn the coil, and replace the wick. If the wick is some sort of silica or stainless steel mesh, I dry-burn it with the wick in it. That'll get rid of the previous flavor.

Edit: this sounds like a lot of trouble. I only do that when switching between juices that I *really* don't want to mix, i.e. from strawberry to tobacco/coffee. When switching between different citrus juices, I don't bother to do any of that, just fill the new juice and go.

This has been easier than I expected. When changing juice, I wash the reomizer and bottle then dry burn. The 28ga wire cleans up nicely. I just use a tiny brush to wisk away the ash from the wire.

Question where are those of you that use Bambo thread for wicking getting it from? I checked 2 craft stores in my area yesterday and could not find it. Found some peaches and cream cotton thread that I am gonna boil and try out. So far my boiled cotton balls are the best haven't tried any of my nextel or Ecowool yet. My RM2 should be here tomorrow to start experimenting with :)

I have found bamboo at both Michaels and at Hobby Lobby. I have two sizes of it.....and I would certainly be happy to send you some of each so you can try it out. Then if you love it, you can work harder at finding it. I feel like it's very, very similar to cotton....enough that I really can't tell them apart. PM me if you want me to send you some samples.

Thanks checked Michaels here and AC Moores . Neither one carried it, in fact the lady at Michael's didn't have a clue they made thread out of Bamboo. Just missed TMcase's ad in the classifieds lol

Now it's time to put a band-aid on your burnt finger, and try another one :)

Kanthal in the foot hurts like a ....!! I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me when I first started RBAs. Now I know to try to not let clipped pieces fly all about!

I use 32g and like it till i drop a piece. Luckily i can always find it, usually the next morning stuck in my foot!

btw sterno... awesome quote by Prez Lincoln you got there. i never knew he said that so I looked it up. very profound. thank you for that!

“Prohibition... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control mans' appetite through legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not even crimes... A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our Government was founded.”

― Abraham Lincoln

LOL i did that once :D

Hi Jan,
Hope all is well in your world! My adopted "Uti" has been a blessing :) - Question for you, since you have used both cotton & bamboo do you see an advantage of one over the other? Do the bamboo wicks last longer than cotton? I love cotton but they get pretty funky after 2-3 days. I have no problem rewicking every couple days but was just curious. Also can you dry burn with bamboo wick?

Nope, can't dry burn bamboo.

And most my wicks go funky after 2-3 days, regardless of cotton/silica/nextel. Cotton needs to be replaced, silica/nextel/SS needs to be dry burned.

Hi, Rudy...sorry, I didn't see this earlier. Glad you're enjoying my "baby".....I know she's in good hands. Commie is right....you can't dry burn bamboo. For all practical purposes, it's just like cotton. And no, I don't think it lasts any longer than cotton, either. I just got some and tried it because.....well.......I got some of ANYTHING that has been mentioned as POSSIBLY being good wicking material just because.....LOL I really can't tell much difference between it and my cotton threads. My two favorites are organic cotton ball cotton, and the DMC-5 embroidery thread. I'm not even sure why, and wouldn't go to the mat for either of them over the other. I know I'm no help at all! Hahaha.

Thanks for your thoughts! :)
I know what you mean trying anything and everything... just because it's fun and have no other tinkering to do! Got some Nextel 1/32 coming from Big Tex. Figure I'd see what all the talk is about even though I have been very happy with my cotton wafer type pads. Using microcoils now with smaller wraps so the cotton wick is thinner and gets destroyed fast!
If in your travels and inner circle you find out someone is looking to put a regular size or 18490 woodvil up for adoption "Uti" is looking for a big brother! :)

nextel for the win! cotton - yeah - ok - in a pinch i suppose so. daily vape all day, change it, coils - not some fantasy land of ceramic and pdib (c) making my coils for me. incidentally he's a genius at these things.

i just ran a nextel for 2 weeks straight on my grand and eventually it fell apart. It's pretty good - but at a dollar an inch it ought to be. ( why do i hear my wife nagging - dollar an inch - i pay more than that!) Must be the acoustics in here.

To restore some sanity - here's my everyday wick - everyone seems to forget why we use this stuff in the first place! 32g kanthal, 3mm silica, 3 wraps, go to work!

How long does it last? irrelevant. It's ruined after a day? depends on a lot of things; can you replicate it? ofc. That last bit is the most important.

kanthal is magnetic so if you have a magnetic backside be very careful when you sit down and start cutting coils!

The problem i see with all natural fibres is that they cannot be dry burned and that they last for next to no time - a carbon fibre/kevlar wick may last a bit longer, which of course is the reason people use SS.

I have not found a satisfying SS wick to use in an RM2 yet. Besides right now i am playing with batteries and wrecking firing pins left and right!

Why is the button a square shape? since the firing pin travels in an arc wouldn't a round bead on the bottom of the button where it meets the firing pin make more sense?
