The spring is not very conductive and eliminates a "contact" joint with a "soldered" one which will conduct electricity much better. I can verify it helped big time on my V1.

Gotcha, I just took mine out to see and it is wired but I ordered a replacement as a backup which has a spring. I guess they want to make it easy to change with no soldering.

The spring version is the old style, had a ton of issues, the solder on the new one is on the atty connection only, there is a quick connect on the switch board.

Still loving my roughstack. I'm never buying smok tech cartomizers again though, hard draw when new and they all die in less than two days. My batteries last longer than those cartomizers. Sticking with boge 2.0 ohm for now.

What cartomizers do you guys like for your RS?

Smoktech dual coils @ 1.5 ohms for me mostly. I don't know which ones you are using, with these the draw gets tight only if I overfill, and I'm using 80/20 liquid or Halo liquid. I get weeks out of each one, and only one coil has failed in the first five months. I don't know about their single coil varieties. Good luck finding some good ones for you!

I've had my Roughstack since May of last year (old spring style). My Darwin replaced it as my daily driver, but I still used it on occasion. It stopped firing completely the other day, so I placed it aside and got around to performing the autopsy last night. The plastic straw was melted and the spring broken in several places. I'm going to replace the spring with a bit of wire.

If I go the wire route, there is no need to replace the bit of straw, correct?
