If it ain't broke don't fix it. I love the genesis style atty. Why would you want to use anything other then a ss mesh wick?

Valid question =) In the name of science I guess, I don't think cotton/bamboo requires the same prep as ss mesh either, just boiling from what I have heard. Also, its something to do, and i have heard of people having good results with it on other types of attys. Regardless, I will give it a go, and post the results.

I am awake and have had some coffee :)

Got mine fired up today. dropped the coil down to 1.8 by unwinding one wrap.

I did cover 1/2 the air hole, getting lots of vapor and good flavor. It will only get better as it brakes in.

Running it on a Carto box mod I made 3.7v. Not a fan of long tub mod set ups. Now to get in to the shop over the long weekend and build a few mods around this atty.

So far I am liking the DC :)

Good Job Chopper looking keep it up :)

There's a whole thread about alternative wick materials. It seems the main impetus was an issue of safety, especially in regards to silica wicks. Some arguments were made about the wicking and flavor regarding ss mesh and according to some of the testers there, the cotton is out performing the mesh on both fronts. If nothing else, the cotton material they are using (gauze bandages or cheesecloth) are MUCH easier to source locally.

I also plan to try it once I get my DC.

About covering the hole. I'm thinking if I need to do it to mine I would try some black electrical tape. Since mine is black I thought it would be a decent match. Do yo think this would work? If not, what are you using to cover the hole?

I like the open air draw. It really stokes the coil nicely IMO. It's all a preference thing I guess.

Personally I would rather a loose draw than a stiff one, and if a small piece of tape is all thats required to fine tune it, thats much easier for me than breaking out the drill.

I do apologize for the air hole, but seriously how was to know what each individual person preference was? There was no way to know and no one said any different in any PM's to me when they made their order.I'm not on a rant of any kind so don't take it that way.I have went through 6 of those tiny drill bits trying to get what you all want far as the smaller hole. They break very easy and then I have to keep going back and forth to the hardware store to get more.Which takes more gas going because I don't live across the street from it.I live out in the woods and have to travel. Then I have to stop doing what I'm doing to go and that stops me from making another person's DC and that is not fair to them as they paid just like the one before. The bit that makes a medium draw hole is working so that is what I will be using. It makes a tight draw in my opinion but then I may differ from the next person.I'm trying to address each thing as I come across it.I'm in no way upset or lashing out at anyone I just want it to be known that I do understand all the concerns and I'm fixing or at least working on trying to fix each one.Remember I'm doing this by myself and its not easy by a long shot.So please bare with me and I will be making them better and faster as I go.
