I'm so confused bc when I tighten the chimney down and vape, I get awesome flavor and can crank it up to 60 watts without a dry hit on my .37 ohm 24 gauge twisted kanthal 3mm using 70/30 juice. When I open the juice flow up by making it taller, I get no flavor and within a few puffs I'll get dry hits.
Sounds like your wick is getting caught in the threads when you open it up and being displaced.

To make things clear, I'm posting a video of the issue that I'm talking about:

https://goo.gl/photos/hQ294DcdvQ2jDwNc9

You can see a gap between the tank and the juice control ring on the outside of the tank (has a Serpent engraving on it) when fully open. This gap disappears if the ring is tightened and not left at the maximum position. The video also shows juice control part of the tank that is wobbly when juice control is open. It moves when pulling it up and down and sometimes I have a liquid seeping out of the place where juice control ring and tank meet.

Could you guys please have a look at your Serpents and comment whether your tanks exhibit the same behavior?

Yes, the chimney supposed to move up/down and wobble. If it leaks then you are missing an O ring.

If the metal ring that controls the juice control on the outside of the tank(has a Serpent word on it) is loose, then you have defective tank.

Dobo, That is quite a wobble and "lift" you have on that JC ring. I have the slightest play on that ring when open, but no lift on mine. That video shows about 80% - 90% more movement than mine gives. In fact, even with the JC full open, I have NO lift to speak of.

Same as DP2Raja on both of mine. It doesn't matter if they're opened or closed, there is just the tiniest bit of play and neither lift up.

LOL!! Wow, I think that is what keeps happening to me. That would explain why the damn thing works great at first and then like an hour later (after I've probably played with the JFC) won't work and will dry hit. Or at least that might be the problem some of the times that I've wicked, because I always try to avoid this from happening.

I always carefully make sure the wick is not in the threaded area. I can adjust the JFC all over the place and the wick remains in place. Or if it moves it does it moves so little there is no interruption in wicking. The only time I have had a dry hit was when I got lost in a movie and didn't notice I had vaped the thing dry! No juice = dry hit....go figure.

I have a question to any that owns this tank and one or a few other rtas.

I was wondering if the tank threading is the same as a kayfun/orchid/silverplay rta(s), and if the coil chamber threading is the same as an orchid/silverplay/wine rta(s)

Finally got mine and measured it, @defdock.

Tank thread: 20 x .5mm (compatible with Kayfun, Orchid, Silverplay, Cthulhu, etc.)
Chamber thread: 14.5 x .5mm (not compatible with Orchid, Silverplay, Wine, etc.)

There are 2 pins at the top of the chimney that holds it together and lets it move up and down. I think one of your pins is gone/broken/missing. You can see those pins if you look up inside.

SS 430 wire. 4strands of 28g twisted. ID 3.2mm, came out to 0.22ohms.

It's not spitting juice, but its a very wet and warm Vape and much cleaner then Kanthal at 35w. Running it in power.mode right now, will test TC mode in a bit.

Mine is just as DP2Raja described.

Nice looking coil KGB7!

Thank you.

430 is the first SS wire I've worked with and its very springy. You need 4 hands to make a twisted wire out of it or a jig of some sort. It also breaks easier then Kanthal if you pull too hard while the drill is operating.
On the plus side, it binds to it self better then kanthal, almost like it fuses together.

SS430 wire is finicky and a pain in the .... to work with. Unlike Kanthal, SS has a steeper learning curve: see pic of my screw up and how wavy it is.

But, when you get it right, the Vape in TC is worth the time +10.

And for $10 for 200 feet, its worth the time and money, to learn and plenty of wire to make perfect twisted wire. I love a good challenge and im sold on this wire... no more Kanthal for me.
