SFY Plug - Inspired by ZFM

Hopefully I'm picking up a thing or 2 after reading 30+ pages on this thread.

I'm just trying to find a decent mod to make refilling for me and my wife easier. I've tried the silicon cap one you first started, but I can't get the cuts accurate enough with my hobby knife to stop leaking around the edges. But this thread in combination with you're first ZFM look promising.

What was that about someone mentioning a custom atty? Has that been done? I had thought about tearing apart a humidifier to see how that transducer works. Did someone beat me to it?

My review, for what its worth, of the SFY plugs that nic was so generous to make for me.

Everything worked 100% GREAT! But, I may not use it after all. ?

I have been using the ZFM mod and loved it, but had the same issue as everyone else, GETTING THE HOLE just right. So, the SFY plug seemed to be the perfect solution. And overall, it is the perfect one. However, I have just one problem with it. The putty taste. After the curing and all, it may just be residue or just the taste (after about 10 hits).

This is what concerns me. Not the taste, but what the taste indicates. Something OTHER than the vapor is getting in my lungs. Safe for food doesn't mean safe for lungs. So, I in searching around, I found a silicone mold solution that might work. Given that the ZFM mod doesn't have a taste or residue issue, I assume that a silicone mold might be the way to go.

Mold Making, Food Grade Silicone Mold Rubber & Mould Supplies has different mold types\textures and a couple that are not only food safe, but stands up to 450 deg temps.

Both are silicone based but maybe different formula. I am still using the first ones I made so I dont taste it anymore. Of course nicotine and flavoring reek havoc on the taste buds though. Give it a try and let us know.

I will keep chugging and hopefully the taste with subside. With that said, I do REALLY like the plugs! Nice hits, no leaks and sucks the cart dry every time! Good work!

Thanks...like I said though...I have some attys that work great with them and some I have to keep fussing with it, so we still need a better solution. The one I vape with all day is perfect and I will cry when it finally dies...but I am working on other solutions so maybe it wont be too bad. Keep us posted.

I am going to hobby lobby tomorrow and will see if they have the higher temp molds. I am thinking about selling these but only if its worth while. I would love to just trade them for juice but we will see how the new mold holds up. If its good I will work somethin out with Nicotime as a pay out

I wish I could post a new thread, but alas.....

I have come up with a very simple but effective mod for the Dura C cartridge but it should work on all cartridges of similar design. Twisp (Janty in South Africa) are very interested in the concept and they have eluded to a year's free supply of liquid if they can use my idea. If I could post a new thread I could share the method with you all - opensource you know.

I don't want to steal the brilliant SFY plug thread, haven't tried it yet, but mine seems to work so good I don't see any reason to try anything else!

The benefits are simple:

Entire cart volume taken up by liquid - no wasted volume
Cart delivers liquid to atomizer to the last drop - no wasted liquid
Easy refilling, no airlocks. 18 - 20 drops, everytime
100% smoke and liquid to atomizer to the last drop

Now, if an admin member could activate my account to a level where I can post a thread, I could share the idea....

Heh I live right outside of Ft Worth, and grew up in Euless... freakin small world.

Going to make this and then test this VS the one I am going to make with a baby bottle nipple VS a couple other ideas.

How would you say this mod is on leaking?

Anyone making these and getting a bad taste, try throwing them in a half a cup of rapidly boiling water and then add two tablespoons of baking soda to it. It will fizz up and help remove the bad taste. I think its the oily substance in the compound. Just FYI the originals I made are still going strong.

Weather permitting (OKC is the middle of an 'icepocalypse') I'm going to have to drive to hobby lobby and try this.

What I'm wondering about is how a small tuft of blue foam in the big hole would work to a) stop leaks and b) conduct juice to the wick. The second paper clip hole would work to let air escape and inject more juice with a needle. Any thoughts?

The other thing is that I cut my cart I sacrificed for the mold above where it fits into the atty, and peeled back the excess into three equal parts (looks like a flechette) so I can put the still wet mold into a dead atty and easily pop it out. Redneck injuneerin' at its finest.

I'm presuming that when you put the star torx through the mold, the excess will come out on the other side. I was thinkin' (uh-oh) that if you then press the still wet mold against the atty, the excess may form around the wick for an extra special custom mold.

Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated, and it will be later in the day until I can get the supplies and start.

What is the consensus so far: T10 with vent hole or T15 without? Again, I'm thinking about trying one variation with a bit o' blue foam if I encounter a problem with flooding. Wish me luck.

Thanks nic. I will give it a try. How long to boil? Is it possible to ruin these by boiling too long?

Clyde...I did try a piece of foam on one of my carts that leaked a little but it slows the flow too much for me anyway. All depends on the atty IMO.

Krickster...I just boiled the water then put them in with the soda for a couple minutes last night. I used one right after and had no taste but this morning it did a little. I'm going to try soaking a new one in the soda solution for a longer period like over night to see what happens. I think it just takes time for the taste to go away but after that its fine. I dont think you can hurt them by boiling, just dont microwave the ones with the mesh in it.
