The meter will read when I touch it at times but adjusting coils does nothing. It's the oddest thing.

I had that happen once. Made a few coils and they were not reading. It turned out the center post on my A7 was not making contact.

You got me stumped!

Holy crap! I just tried one of these tightly wrapped (touching) coils and it works FANTASTIC. I was always under the assumption that touching meant shorting and shorting is bad so previously I spent extra time making sure of even spacing like I was building a genesis atomizer. I used 32g 5 wraps came in at 1.7ohm and working like a champ on my mini

One of me posts is slightly bent. Perhaps that's all it would take? Well, good excuse to buy an era. The center post looks a bit in there but if I unscrew it at all the top part comes undone. lol

Well I finally blew an RBA coil on my Grand so I decided to make a different coil than what I had been using. Previously I was wrapping 32 gauge kanthal around a doubled 2.5ml silica wick.

I found a nail and did 5 wraps of 32 gauge kanthal and mounted the coil in the A7 with the nail still attached. That did make it much easier to attach the coil to the posts. I rolled some cotton from a cottonball and slid it into the coil. It metered 2.3 ohm.

I believe I am getting more vapor and the taste seems cleaner. So far I like it. I'm using a Kicked GRand at 9 watts and an A7 RBA.

Nope, the hole the juice feeds through. Must of been dumb luck because now it's not working again. lol. Oh well, just ordered an era.

That would be the post that the center post goes into right? So sounds like it is having a problem connecting.

From what I have read you will like the ERA.

Now try cottone ball wick and that same coil arrangement with 6wraps of 30g without the kick on a freshly charged battery and prepare to be blown away!!!!
Made such a difference I am selling/trading off most of my tube mods for more reos n rbas because anything else sucks in comparison to the point I can no longer enjoy them.

Hey Ratman, you prefer the VV or standard? Tempted to get a VV but not sure I need it. My provari just collects dust.

Ratman can answer you, but I will too. :) Okay? Ha. I never thought I needed VV....and when I got into RBAs I REALLY assumed that I didn't need variable voltage because (logically) I figured I could just build the coil to any ohm I wanted, and the 3.7 (actually about 4.1 watts) would be just fine. THEN I got a VV Grand.....now I can't live without it. Period. If I could only own one REO (in some alternate universe....never happen to me in THIS life!!!) I'd have the VV Grand. It's my 99% of the time go-to apv. Couldn't live without it.

Just thought I'd drop that opinion in here....take it for what it's worth. :)

Was looking on the site and it's only 3.3-5.5 volts. Between that and the batteries I have to buy I think I will just get 2.1 and kick my grand.

Yeh, that would work. I never had a kick so was really limited to the 3.7 - 4.1 and it was pretty good but I just really enjoyed the VV once I got it. You'll love the 2.1.

I ran a kick in my grand for several months and I would have said go with the vv grand until I tried this coil setup. I took out my kick and like my grand and mini 2.1 just as well if not better than I like my vv grand when using the same setup on all three. It doesn't make any sense to me but it just flat a touch better for me without the vv. I do not feel any significant drop off until the battery drops to about 3.5 or 3.6 which is time to recharge anyway. 1.2 ohm squished 30g coil with cotton ball wick on an unkicked grand is simply the best vape I have ever experienced by a large margin.

The surgery went well but she's in an awful lot of pain and extremely nauseous. Finally knocked her out and she has been sleeping the last hour and a half. Thank god. Hard to see her hurt like that and not be able to do anything. Tomorrow will be better and better the day after that. Im just thankful she is still with me.

No kick in there, I like my vape smooth and it comes in great in the 1.5-1.7ohm area with just a battery. I am not a fan of the ultra harsh low ohm coil setup and it likes to burn my cotton lol. Been vaping on that coil all day and its fantastic, not once did I use my provari today but it came along with me to work lol
