Should I just get a Provari?

You don't have to try or own something to have an opinion on it.

While this may be true, as every is entitled to their own opinion, this hardly gives you the right to say factually that the Lavatube's quality is on the same level of the Provari.

I'm not one to blindly form an opinion on anything, I have owned both the Lavatube and a Provari, and in MY opinion, having held and used BOTH devices, I can tell you the Provari is on a whole nother level.

I never said they were the same but after watching endless reviews, comparisons, all the info I have read about both devices and the tons of pictures/videos I have seen it's not even 2x better and it costs 4x the price..both devices vary the voltage and have displays and until very recently at the same amp limit.

From what I'm reading that won't be long though..they both have older style displays in a day you can buy a cell phone with a better display for $10. Voltage variation and regulation isn't rocket science and has been around for awhile and although these devices are newer the electronics in them both were possible at least 5 years ago probably more than 10. Even the IMR's have been around a few years. I wouldn't call either device ground breaking in the electronic world...

Interesting then that the Chinese manufacturers did such a poor job with the LT in terms of voltage regulation and variation...

I don't defend the price-point of the Provari, because I don't have access to Provape's financials. Maybe they have to charge that much to make a modest profit; maybe they're making 300% on every unit. I just don't know. I do know they are an American company, and anything even assembled in the US from foreign parts costs more than a Chinese equivalent. Our labor is simply more expensive.

And I'm curious why you seem to be hung up on the display? It needs to show two whole digits, like the LT. Do we really need an OLED retina display to view two digits and a dot? I kind of dig the old-school LED digits. :)

"Those who would give up Good Voltage Regulation, to purchase a long Chinese Knockoff, deserve neither the Voltage they Set, nor Reliability".

(kidding - vape what you like) :D

I usually stay out of stuff like this but I'm another smug Provari owner. I had a LT and wouldn't trade my Provari for 10 Lavatubes! (or any number for that matter) Provari owners used to make me mad also..until I finally got one and couldn't believe what I had been missing all this time. The one button is a non issue.. it's perfect.. I wouldn't want it any other way.. I can change my voltage without looking at it. It only takes a couple seconds and the most important part is what I see on that led readout is the truth.

For me, it's not so much about quality (though quality is nice).. it's about knowing what's going on. If I set my provari at a certain voltage.. I know that's the voltage I'll get. Even though the LT had a LED readout... it was useless as it was never what it said it was. Add that to the fact that the voltage continually drops as the batts discharge.. (I thought I was getting away from that when I gave up 3.7 box mods and bought a "quality PV") drove me nuts! I paid $35 for a vv madvapes box and I wouldn't even trade IT for 10 LT's! I used to try to defend my LT, but even then, I kept noticing that something wasn't right.. then I got a voltmeter and felt sick I had paid so much for it. $159 is cheap for what my provari does and the enjoyment I get out of using it. But then I also enjoy using my $35 vv mv box equally as much.

For me it's all about my device doing what it is supposed to do. I couldn't use my LT without getting mad and feeling like I was being lied to. To compare the Provari to computers and cars.. well that's a difference of hundreds and thousands of dollars. I'm content with my $380 laptop.. I'm content with my $200 Kindle Fire (as opposed to Macs and Ipads) I wasn't content with the quality of vaping my LT gave me. I didn't even want it as a backup.

BUT.. this is my opinion. There are many many out there that are content with their 510s and Egos and LT's (and many others) and that's fine, there are many other great devices out there and not everything is for everyone..it's all about staying away from cigarettes.

If someone is thinking about getting a Provari and can even halfway afford it..go ahead and get it and you'll end up saving money in the end. And if you don't like it (and some don't) they hold their value pretty well on the classys.

donnah, I am afraid I have to completely agree with you on this one. I have only been vaping a little over two months but zoomed through the ego, the box mods at both 3.7 and 5 volts. It seemed each one was a big step up and I was happy for a short while. I then had to get a lavatube for the vv. I liked it better but at times was completely happy with it and others not so much. Being new I was, and still am, experimenting with different cartos and tanks. I then got the Provari and it has been great so far. It is the only product that I can honestly say I have zero complaints with. It does what it says it is doing. The feel is solid and looks good, at least to me, which I guess is what counts. The only thing that would have been better for me is if I would have skipped the rather expensive learning curve with the different mods and started here. I really would have saved me money. More than enough to buy a backup Provari. I am now down to buying cartos, tanks, and juice. I don't think I will spend money on another mod for a long time. I am glad you are enjoying yours as I am.

I personally don't want to have to push a button 5x to get to the menu to change my voltage..then if I want to change it again another 5x..this doesn't include all the button pushes scrolling through the menu..no matter the device I'm going to have to change the voltage .1 or .2 after the atomizers warms up.

For me, it's not so much about quality (though quality is nice).. it's about knowing what's going on. If I set my provari at a certain voltage.. I know that's the voltage I'll get. I would rather just have it work when I push the button not show a error code so I'm completely fine with it just regulating the volts down..not to mention it does all the voltages I need and it does them well. When you say it's not the voltrage it is really close I have a digital multimeter and what it does is regulate down to not go over 2.5amps like a Provari V1..this regulation is to keep you from blowing a coil and from a battery venting..2.5a limit might be a little overkill but it only effects dual coils and low ohm atomizers really and those devices are not needed on a VV device..heck dual coils are mostly hype. I considered building a stacked battery mod but when I can get a LT kit for the same or less money than building one if you include batteries and a charger..besides I feel safer with a LT over stacked batteries.

For me it's all about my device doing what it is supposed to do. I couldn't use my LT without getting mad and feeling like I was being lied to. Sounds like you bought into a bunch of hype the Provari puts up an error code so it doesn't do "what it's supposed to" anymore than the LT as it puts up an error code when it's over the amp limit..I know you mean voltage but I haven't noticed much difference in my vape from 4.2v down to 3.3v with the battery..although I haven't tested it at 3.3v because I only let it get that low once in the last 4 weeks. I believe I tested mine when the battery was at 3.6v and the voltage was within hundredths of a volt of where I set it. I understand this is mass produced and the regulator isn't perfect but it is good enough. I mean .1 isn't that much a difference and a lot of times I adjust in .2 incriminates..I don't believe in vaping you need to be that exact.

BUT.. this is my opinion. There are many many out there that are content with their 510s and Egos and LT's (and many others) and that's fine, there are many other great devices out there and not everything is for everyone..it's all about staying away from cigarettes.

I see a lot of people buying into hype here..thermal monitoring=temperature sensor and they have been in processors for over a decade..That's just one example and there are a lot of examples where both devices hype things up. I agree the Provari is the better device but it isn't even twice the device and it costs four times as much. For me the LT is the better value and easier to use and no pressing the button "20x" to change the voltage a few times.

Yeah it is. Simple as that. I'd pay more for a Provari than I did. I'd probably go as high as 250-300$ for just the device.
I'd also go as high as 70-80$ for a well made steel tank for it, even though I can make a syringe one for under a dollar.
I'd be happy to go outside with my ProVari Mini and a steel tank. I'd never do that with lavatube and syringe tank. So, happy vs never equals how much dollars?
But again, thats just me. And tons of others that actually used Provari. I understand you don't feel the same, being the one that just saw it on the computer screen.

I'd like top quality near my face. Not a tradeoff. Definitely not 4 tradeoffs, or how much LTs you think one Provari can buy. Its my face, its my addiction, and finally its my hobby. Show me better and safer VV device, and I'd think about leaving Provari, and even paying more. Don't show me "half there", or "almost there", as that doesn't cut it even when given for free.

In my book, Darwin is the only one that can sit next to Provari in VV department, but I still prefer steel, and PV looks. This LT preaching is a bit annoying. And funny, when button is being mentioned so many times. If Provari initially came with 4 buttons with wires inside, and 1 button version was an option, I'd pay for that 1 button option. Says the guy that actually used that one button.

Show me the numbers where the Provari is safer than a LT..I haven't even heard of either of these devices venting a battery..both these devices seem to do overkill on safety and that's good..if one ever did vent I would think more than likely because of a battery issue over the devices. I'm sure the LT probably has a higher failure rate because it's more mass produced but both are mass produced..but reading these forums I haven't seen many posts of either device failing much.

The Provari preaching that it's some kind of "holy grail" is really annoying to me it falls short in options at that price range. I don't need to press a button "100x" to see it would get old fast..not to mention pushing the button and nothing coming out because it has an error code.

For that price it should lower the volts and tell you it did on screen instead of turning it off or maybe it shouldn't let you set the volt higher than the ohms of the atomizer. To me a "holy grail" would do those things and it would have a better screen for that price than a couple digits that cost maybe $1 each..heck it should display in hundredths of a volt for that price...

Gimme a break Dude, you have not even tried the provari. Give it a rest.

With all the info around about both devices you don't have to try it to get a good idea of what it's like. I knew what my LT would be like before buying it and it even exceeded my expectations a little. Sure the Provari could exceed my expectations a little but it's not going to make me think it's some kind of "holy grail" for it's price..if I'm paying $160 instead of $40 for just the device I expect a lot more options.

Sure the finish would make it worth more but the finish doesn't make up $120 worth..maybe the better finish would be worth $20 more and the better regulator/micro processor another $20..so $80 is what a Provari is worth to me if the price for just the device if comes down close to that and I have the extra money I would consider buying one.

I use around 7 different flavors a day and buying 1 e cig vv tube for $160+ just isn't in my budget because if I spent that much I would have to switch flavors constantly. I will however buy another LT this year maybe 2.

I'm not easily impressed by shiny things..I drove around in a couple old Monte Carlo's (1970 and 1978) for more than a decade..they both had a 350hp 400ci engine that I put in both them though. I drive a mid 90's 1 owner Cadillac now with 80k on the odometer and it's in nice shape that I paid $2,500 for last year.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't enjoy driving around town in a 70's Monte Carlo. I would prefer and own a BMW. I agree both might get me from point A to point B and accomplish the same thing. I just prefer the build and performance of the BMW. Is it worth the extra cost? To me it was because I enjoy it. I consider it money well spent but I agree that if all I was concerned about was travel, there are cheaper ways to go. The BMW is definately a better car than a 15 year old Caddy but both can accomplish the same thing if that is all you are concerned about. I enjoy the build, the technology, the performance and the safety of the newer car. It was worth it to me but I am sure wouldn't be to you. The only thing I won't do is knock the Monte or the Caddy. Both were good cars in their time and probably still are good vehicles but just not my cup of tea. Different strokes for different folks.

The 1st Monte was a 1970 and it went from 0-60 in 6 seconds flat with a stock 12 bolt 2:73 rear end with 3" exhaust..it went over 140mph. It wasn't bad on gas either it got over 21mpg on a trip one time..it would cruise at 60mph with just your foot touching the pedal. I bought the Caddy because it was a good deal and I'm 42 years old so I just need a car I'm comfortable in and it's one of the most comfortable cars I've drove in a long time.

I'm 6'2" and 250lbs+ so most newer cars are not comfortable to me the seats suck..it also gets about 21-22mpg just driving it around here and got almost 30mpg on a trip to Watkins Glen I took last summer..the 1995 Caddy got great crash reviews and would probably do better than a lot of the smaller cars on the road today..it also gets out of it's own way not under powered at all..at almost 43 I don't need a fast car just something that drives nice..if I needed a fast car I would have rebuilt that 400chevy small block to 450hp+ and put it in something nice..I think only the 1979 Caddy Coupe Deville I owned for a few months in the late 80's rode better.

As my family has been in the car business one way or another I believe the Caddy is the 17th car I've owned in over 26 years of driving..a big number of those cars were when I was younger I would buy a cheap car drive (beat the hell out of it) it 6 month or a year and sell it for cost or profit usually if I didn't blow the motor or transmission and I went through quite a few transmissions not so many engines though as I changed the oil regularly myself.

I went through 4 TH350's with that 400 Chevy before I had one built right lol. I had a 1979 Cutlass that had a 5-speed in it and a 1972 350 rocket when I was 18..that 5-speed lasted 2500 miles..it blew one day when I was going sideways in 3rd gear around a corner lmao..I used to beat the hell out of cars..even had a few cars airborne in my day at over 100mph :D

OK, I am not saying what is right for me is right for everyone in cars or vaping. I enjoy what I have and others enjoy what they have. Not trying to change anyones mind or defend anything other than my choice of equipment. I like my cars and I like my vaping devices. I have both Lavatube and Provari as well as others. You have been doing this much longer than I but I prefer the to use the provari to my other devices.

Below is a unbiased review of the Provari V1 vs the LT V1 from someone that has both that I just watched. I got my LT kit shipped from VaporAlley for $62.99 and the price will only go down on these LT's..sure the V2 LT might initially cost a little more when it 1st comes out but I'm sure by next fall you probably will be able to buy a LT kit for about $50 and the device alone around $30 or so I bet. I'm sure the price of the Provari will drop too as more competition shows up..it already went down from $182 to $160 not long ago. Isn't competition great :)

The Provari has been $159 since it was released, that hasn't changed. This debate is really pointless, some will prefer the LT for it's value and some will prefer the Provari, to each is own. Coming from someone who has also owned both they are both good choices at the price point but I personally think the price difference is more than justified for the Provari.

I was looking at them weeks ago and it said something like $182..the $159 is a "sale" price..the starter kit is on sale for $211.95.

BTW Greenhouse one is selling LT V1 mini or regular kits for $39.99 plus shipping direct from China until the 10th..they are probably trying to sell off V1's before the newest revision comes..not sure about the shipping though and it might take awhile to get. I'm sure you will see other V1 kits on sale in the near future...

The Provari has always had a List Price and a Sale Price since it was released, the sale price has always been $159, that hasn't changed. Not sure about kit pricing as I wasn't interested in either of these in kit form.
