Down the rabbit hole..
My two that died after 4hrs and 2hrs were also the 2.0 ohm reg. 510 Hybrid and each of them clearly have 4 wraps around the wick. Both sloppy, not centered and on one of them the coil is all pushed together and the wick against the cup.Where do I send these to,I contacted COV with no reply yet 2 days ago.

send AG a pm....he'll be able to help you....:)

Behind you
ME I have the 2.0 ohm reg. 510 Hybrid and the coil is wrapped around the wick only three times and the coils are all on one side, not centered.

Hrmm. The bottom-feeder that died had three wraps but they look 'center' just fine. The standard that I have that is still going strong has four 'center' too..

AG, or Vapage, or anybody really... shouldn't these all be identical?

I need to ohm this one out now.

MagnusEunson - What are you using to take pictures? If you can set camera to "no autofocus" kind of setting. Place the camera steady and focus on the coil by moving the atty by hand until focus is achieved. Having a good light is helpful to. I hope you figure out what I mean :)

Yeah, I'm really bad about these things so I'm borrowing a friend who can make it happen. *phew* -Magnus

Funny story of how short remembered humans can be or that into instant gratification......

I picked up the hybrids the gentleman sold on the classys. He had tried them but not for very long, cleaned then and placed them for sale. So while I'm soaking my first one, I figured I break out that one over a brand spanking new one.....

Prime, prime, let set a few, no power draw, vape....WTF??? Why is the draw so stiff? Where is the vapor?

An hour or so later we are getting there. Now it's vaping like a champ. This one did not even get a partial break in IMO. Dang these have the most interesting and long break in of any atty I have used. I can see why a lot are turned off of them when they don't perform perfectly when not seasoned. That leads me to question why. What is so different?

AG? The only thing I can think of is the mesh coiled in the casing. It certainly doesn't have the same air flow as if it had been wrapped around a bridge. Whatcha think?

If ya ca't tell, I like to know how things work and why

For me, it is well worth the break in period. For those wanting instant gratification, maybe not?

Down the rabbit hole..
I'm with you Taz.:thumb:..the amount of break in is well worth it ...these babys perform awesome after that..
I think the mesh needs to get good and saturated before they start really putting out and working so great!
some people have no patience which is a shame cuz they're really missing out!....

Day 8: I took my Hybrid LR 1.5 Bottom Feeder off today and replaced it with a Cisco 510 LR 1.5. I have been vaping the Hybrid, non-stop, since I got it on Monday and have been very pleased with it but I was losing the ability to compare it with anything else. When I put my Cisco on my Woodvil the first thing that entered my mind was; Damn, that Hybrid is very much like this Cisco 510! The draw, at least on mine, is nearly the same. So much so that I didn't notice a difference. As for flavor, the Hybrid has to win. That is if I kept it wet which wasn't hard to do because it's difficult to flood. Well, I can't go that far. The flavor is just as good on the Cisco but it's harder to keep the Cisco at the perfect point where the flavor is great. You know, between being flooded and getting that dry hot hit. That's more of what I mean it's just hard for me to explain. Also that Hybrid seems to hit harder too. I don't mean it hits hotter just harder like comparing an analog full flavor filter with an anolog non-filter. That's the kind of hit that I mean, filter or non filter. I really can't complain about the Cisco because there isn't that much of a difference. I will say this though, the Cisco has already proven to me to be a workhorse so only time will tell with the Hybrid. It's safe for me to say that the one I got from my first order has, so far, been very durable. I go thru about six to eight ml's a day and running it with an AW IMR 18650 that really puts a jolt to an atty tells me that this atty is probably going to last. I think what I'm trying to say is I have found a way to vape the LR 510 and switch to a LR 306 whenever I want to and still get a good draw from either. I like the way a Cisco 510 draws but I also like the hotter and harder hit from a 306. I've been trying to use the Cisco 306 LR 1.5 for a long time but I decided, just before this Hybrid came to my attention, to quit buying the 306 because of the draw issue I was having. It looks like this Hybrid has come to my rescue so I can now enjoy both types of attys.
Like I said in an earlier post I had to send one of the first two back that I got from COV because it metered way out of spec. and I still haven't gotten a reply from either of my messages. I really hope the quality control is picked up by the folks who make these Hybrids because it would be a down rite shame if these suddenly drop out of the market. This is a good thing that COV has going and I'd like to see them keep these on the market but I can't order attys that are suppose to be 1.5 ohms and they turn out to be 2.8 ohms. Maybe that was a fluke and just bad luck, I don't know. I ordered two more and put a note with my order with my concern. I got them today and they both measure at 1.6 ohms which I can live with all day. Some folks might not be as picky as I am but when I order a 1.5 ohm atty I expect it to be whithin + or - 0.1 ohms. I have never gotten a Cisco that was more than 0.1 ohms out of spec and that's why I don't mind paying top dollar for those attys but I'm not going to pay that much for something I can't depend on. I really hope this atomizer, the Hybrid I mean, succeeds because I am becoming a big fan of it.
I'm going to put one of the new ones I got today on my Woodvil in a bit and put it thru an extended run to see if it too holds up. I'm really hoping it does.

Agreed, +/- 0.1ohm is a requirement.. if I find frequent errors in that regard I just don't return. A wider range of error at higher ohms I might tolerate. At 1.5ohm and 2.0ohm, I really don't want to be starting that far off the mark. -Magnus

I mailed out 20 of the 1.5ohm Hybrids and 20 of the 2.0ohm Hybrids, which I received for that purpose. According to my meter, none of them were off more than 0.1, and most of them were right on the money.

I sure do appreciate that. The new one I put on earlier today is working great. The flavor is outstanding with these attys!
