Sitting down, facing forward.
I don't want to talk about how much I've spent on vaping over the last three years, but I will say I have broken even and am actually saving some money now. (see my sig)

I will also say that a 30 dollar, or less, rebuildable atomizer, an inexpensive VV/VW device, some kanthal and some rayon will save tons of money on replacing clearos, cartos, commercial heads and so on. They do tend to use a lot more liquid though to produce all that vapor so maybe get into DIY for liquids as well.

Two months of Vaping as of today. $378 on gear ($45 on consumables like coils, wire, cotton, vodka). $275 on juice, of which I still have $162 worth, so $103 on juice. I probably have $25 worth of my consumable hardware.

I have consumed $128 worth of supplies and juice in two months. Just over $2/ day.

When adding all my gear $378 + $128 = $506 is about $100 less than I would have spent on packaged cigs in that time. (I had already cut that cost in half by only rolling my own in the six months before quitting, but I still use it as my benchmark). That $94 is about what I spent on some new running shoes, which I can actually use now that I'm not smoking.

I want to diy juice and save more

I just picked up the 1 Gallon PG and VG bottles that were posted earlier. 2 gallons of liquid for $59 and free shipping...even if I spent something absurd like $1000 on flavoring and other equipment it would still cost less than buying pre-made juice. Crazy. So far I've only bought the PG and VG...looking into flavorings and such right now...

EDIT: 2 gallons of juice = 7570 mL = 252 30mL bottles of juice. 252 bottles of juice at $15 = $3780 if you bought that much juice premade. ($15 per 30mL bottle is a conservative average for people that buy in store as opposed to online, at least from what I've seen on here)

From what I understand you can get everything you need for DIY for well under $250, and that's if you buy a lot of equipment like bottles and syringes, plus the flavor additives you use.

FINAL EDIT: Just realized my math didn't factor in the volume of flavoring or nicotine at all...so 252 bottles of juice would actually be at the very low end...I'd guess you'd get more like 275 or 300 30mL bottles out of that 2 gallons.

I have about $150 into cartotanks that I don't use anymore
$210 in R91's & a KFL that I don't use anymore
$840 for 4 used Provaris from the classifieds + 2 P3s from ProVape
about $400 on tanks that I use + leather mod sheaths & tru-stone drip tips
about $60 on chargers and $100 in batteries
about $150 in gear storage and miscellaneous
I've probably lost less than $500 between reselling mods & accessories and stuff that broke

subtract that $2410 initial investment (2 years worth) from the $7500 that I would have spent on cancersticks and I'm over 5K in the black

I DIY so my juice use costs me about 2.5¢/ml - under $6/month
I use less than $20 of premade coils per month so I'm under $1/day for consumables and $5K ahead in gear
I spent over $300/month on coffin nails and hated smoking except the first few in the morning

Spending 1/10 the $$ to enjoy saving my life is 1,000,000x a win :vapor:

Easily spend as much as I did on smokes, seems to have tapered off lately

I've only been vaping for a little over 5 weeks and I'm about $800 total invested at this point. However, once I get a backup mod and the rest of my DIY supplies then I am set for the forseeable future. I'm guessing I'll spend another $200 in the next month and then hopefully won't need/want to drop another dime for the next 9 months at least (I'll probably occasionally pick up new DIY flavors and supplies but that should be it).

Either way...I was spending at least $175 a month on cancer sticks so even if I spent that same amount every month I would be happy. I knew this would cost me a lot to get set up because that's just how I am with my hobbies. I go way overboard and spend a literal crap ton in the beginning and then expenses practically vanish after a few months. My health is definitely worth investing in. "No Ragrets"

I spent a huge amount when I first started - something close to $2.5k in the first 6 months. Crappy hardware, flavors I didn't like, etc, etc. Lately (last 3 months) it averages to 80-100/month on liquid, and nothing on hardware. DIY is next on my list. Maybe May will be the month for that.

In march, I didn't by any liquid, had quite a backstock, and was eyeballing temp controlled. Bought a bunch of samsung batteries from RTDvapor instead to get rid of the mystery batteries I got from the vapeshop a while back. Still want to get into temp controlled, but another problem for another day. Good batteries are more important.

Yup. My initial DIY investment was around $300 for a gallon each PG/VG, flavorings, "lab" equipment, and nicotine. If I dumped everything into a bucket, that would have been around 8700 ml of e-liquid, or roughly 3.5 cents per ml - including hardware.

That's pretty darn inexpensive.

Wow, new vapors please don't freak out over what some of us spend, because you can get a great start for the price of two cartons of cigarettes. Order an iStick 30w kit, a Subtank Nano and a 5 pack of OCC replacement coils for about $85 from Sweet-Vapes. Get two 60ml bottles of GREAT eliquid from Nicoticket for less than $34. That's $120 spent, and you shouldn't need anymore eliquid for at least a month. Vaping can easily be much less expensive than smoking, and should be imo. I used to spend $11 a day on cigarettes! For too many years, too.

A few months ago I calculated my costs:

I can make 1 ml of unflavored juice for 2.2 cents. 5 ml/day = 11 cents. $3.30 a month.
Coils and cotton - less than $1 a month.
Batteries - about $30, and yearly replacement of my vamo another $30, or $60 together; so it is $5 per month.
Total: $9.30 per month.

Recently I have spent additional $75 on new equipment (vapocalypse, etc). Do not plan to spend more for months to come.

Here's the skinny for me personally for a very satisfying experience:

2 eleaf batteries, $70.00.

2 Large Nautilus Tanks, $62.00

2 Boxes of BVC Coils $22.00

Those coils will last 15 weeks.

Now about the vapor itself:

You can go premium boutique vapor at $22.00 a bottle for 30 MG. One 30 MG bottle last me about a week, so that is $3.00 a day or half the price of smoking. This is premium, high VG extract flavored liquid.

OR...

You can go midrange priced stuff about $16.00 a 30MG bottle which gets you down to $2.00 a day.

OR...

You can go cheap and make your own but do your research if you are going to do that and dont buy cheap flavoring. Spend the extra money on the flavors and the grade of VG and PG.

That seemed to be the major take-away message from the DIY beginners info section. Pick flavor vendors carefully...luckily the DIY section has an extensive list of not only reputable vendors but also what flavors each vendor carries. Excellent place to start for anyone curious about DIY.

WARNING: Do not enter the DIY section unless you're willing to get lost for days looking at recipes :laugh:
