You're a lot sharper than that. Pav.

Here's how people would lie, cheat or steal for nicotine and caffeine: make them illegal. If you do they'll engender the EXACT same behavior as the other drugs.

Yeah, I thought of that. Still don't think it would be the same even if they were prohibited.

Pav could you please not reference specific names of substances in future posts. It can be a trigger for some, and I am attempting to keep those types of keywords out of the thread and out of search results here and on search engines.

Sure, no prob. Posts edited to remove such language.

I do. Just think about how dependent some people are on these things. "You better not cross me before I've had my coffee and cigarettes in the morning" and they're NOT kidding. If you took their drugs away tomorrow? You'd have armed people all across the nation looking to extract some blood to get their caffeine and nicotine back. Bank on it.

The specific effects of a drug don't disqualify it as a drug. You may not be able to drink enough coffee to black out... but you can't do enough coke to black out either. Blacking out or not blacking out isn't the issue. Different drugs have different actions on the body and brain. If you're consuming caffeine and/or nicotine you are NOT sober by definition and by emperical evidence.

I guess you skipped the part where he said "While I may not be truly sober"?

How many times/ways does a person have to agree with you before you stop arguing with them?

The answer my friend - Is blowing in the wind - The answer is blowing in the wind - - --

Oh, hi, Bones. Still sulking? Shame.

I wasn't commenting on the content of his post. I was commenting on the choice of words in the title of the thread.

    Thanks for the note, though.

Oh - forgive me - I guess I was confused by you quoting a post you weren't responding to - -

PS - I'm not sulking in the least - Never have been -
But I see you are still busy derailing threads by making arguments out of nothing -

Good lord, Bones. What happened to you? Too many Vidi pills? I miss the old you. I though we were friends. Guess that was a mistaken opinion.

Nope - We are still friends - I've told you exactly what happened to me -
Friend or not - I just got sick of your semantic games -
Can I not be your friend and still call you out on your BS?

Who is the truer friend - The one who tells you -

"Hey man - You got a big green booger hanging off your nose!" -

Or the one who just lets you walk around with it hanging and says nothing? - ;)

I disagree. It might be tough withdrawing from nic/caffeine, but nothing compared to other harder stuff.

Maybe for YOU, but that's not the experience most people have. Nicotine and caffeine have been shown to be just as difficult to kick as the hardest drugs. Everyone's different, but we have to go with the overall consensus and that consensus is that caffeine and nicotine are generally VERY hard to quit.

UNlike your semantic battle over what sober means?

Or - Is the THAT the topic now that you have successfully derailed the intent of the OP? - -

See, this is just you being a jerk. There was nothing invalid about my comments regarding sobriety. I'm not doing battle at all. I'm defending myself from the kind of needlessly confrontational BS that you just posted.

I almost answered something similar. He was talking about "withdrawal" being difficult, not difficulty quitting. I've heard that nicotine is one of the hardest to "quit".

Nicotine withdrawal is the group of symptoms that occur upon the abrupt discontinuation or decrease in intake of nicotine. The effects of nicotine withdrawal can include anxiety, depression, feelings of restlessness or frustration, headaches, an increase in appetite and difficulty concentrating

    The other:
    Tremors
    Cramps
    Muscle and bone pain
    Chills
    Perspiration (sweating)

    Itch
    Restless legs syndrome
    Flu-like symptoms
    Rhinitis (runny, inflamed nose)
    Yawning
    Sneezing
    Vomiting
    ........
    Weakness
Akathisia (a profoundly uncomfortable feeling of inner restlessness)

In all serious Surf, there is a saying that was really big awhile back about "Checking Yourself Before Wrecking Yourself."

You've really been on some weird tear lately that takes your usual pedantic ramblings about meaning way beyond what is socially normal. Sure, this is a debate forum, but the OP was posted as a means to find like minded vapers or at least vapers who may have shared experiences in the AA/NA crowd. I think they are adult enough to know about what an intoxicant can mean in fact, I'd imagine few better to give you an intense discourse on the subject matter. So really, what was the purpose of pointing it out?

You are essentially accusing others of breaking a glass of water when you've just busted through the wall like the Kool-Aide man. Give it a rest man.

Not really, man. In fact it's more a case of others coming at me for even the slightest provocation. This thread is an excellent example. Feel free to review how the discussion played out. I didn't come in here blasting anyone. I said what I said and I'll say it again: sober vaping is an oxymoron. The fact that a bunch of people had a conniption fit about it really doesn't fall on my shoulders.

PS: Notice how Bones flew in my face with NO direct provocation from me. And now you're backing him up. Odd. Very odd.

A rather fine distinction, no? After all, what makes quitting difficult? Why, the withdrawal symptoms of course!
