If the chemical that is use in place of diacetyl is just as bad..Then whats the point in removing diacetyl..?

Exactly. I would like to see lists of suppliers that are Diacetyl AND Pentanediol/Acetylpropriny free. Both are butter flavors and both can cause you to need a lung transplant from lung failure.

Even the .02 ppm thing bothers me. If it is .009 Diacetyl that a vaper absorbs and that's considered safe, what if we use more flavoring than the testers used? If we use triple what they used, wouldn't that bring you to the danger zone of .02?

i agree...after reading kushka's post on "Ask your suppliers to remove diacetyl", i have decided not to worry as much about diacetyl. i still will prefer to use eliquids that dont have it, but am not going to lose sleep over this. if the mods want to delete this thread, feel free to, or close it. thanks!

Is this list being updated from anyones posts who throws a name out? Is it being cross checked or verified by the OP? This is a good idea but it is all very confusing and the process is questionable... :-(

I appreciate what you are doing, I really do. Those other (diacetyl) threads have became ridiculous to say the least... I just want to know this thread is a little more than "somewhat" correct, thats all. I am fully on board, I would prefer to be as safe 'n healthy as is possible, and the suppliers that are coming forward and saying that they use the best ingredients and leave out potentially bad ones is the way Im leaning for sure...

Thanks.

What? Do you have something to document this statement with regard to vaping, which is, I think, what all the discussions have been about.

So are you going to continue updating the list or not?

I appreciate this thread. I made a copyof the initial list, saved it in my documents, then I can add and update the list for my own use. Since the initial list is not able to be edited anymore. I haven't see Freedom Smoke USA. Does this mean they use diacetyl?

As far as I know they do. I once saw a thread where they said they did not but they use flavor art which does have diacetyl. However, David has assured that his juices are safe and is actually going to get a spectrum analysis of his and other vendors juices so we have some facts to look at. Needless to say, I'm very anxious for the analysis because I do NOT want to be vaping diaceytl.

One bit of very good news - FlavourArt is working on removing diacetyl from their flavors altogether. The FDA seems to be looking at diacetyl again (this time with the express purpose of banning a food flavoring from the GRAS - generally recognized as safe - list based on inhalation) so it would make sense that they're getting rid of it as it might not be FDA approved.

So, testing/research or not, all FA flavors should be diacetyl-free before long. In the meantime, the list linked in my signature is ever-changing, but be aware that your vendors may still be using the older diacetyl-containing flavour art flavors, even if they are not on this newest version of the list. Add Eastmall to the list please. We get all our liquids from DeKang (already listed), and all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that no unsafe products or chemicals have been added to the liquids.

If you haven't already seen this, here is Leaford's tour of the DeKang factory:
YouTube - dhenschel05's Channel

And some references on the DeKang website, which includes SGS certificates, MSDS sheets, toxicity testing reports, KFDA certification, and a Food Hygiene License:
Changning Dekang Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Very impressive. Maybe we can send a junket over there to see what really can be done and how to do it.

I might be going over there at some point (hopefully sooner rather than later) to meet with David Yang and tour the factories. It is something that has been talked about, though no definitive plans have been set yet.
