Most of us are gearheads.
That means, we want to get a new PV every time something new comes out.
There are two problems with that:

1: (Opinion) The Protege/ Prodigy units are the best on the market, so upgrading is pointless.
2: Some of us can't afford every new toy that comes out...

Steve, here's my idea:
Take a batch of main tubes for the Protege and/or Prodigy and have them Powdercoated or painted in different colors!
This would give me the gadget fix I need.
Most of the time I want to get a new toy is because it looks different, not only because it works "better".
The tubes are easily interchangeable by the end user and would cost ($20-25?)
I know black and white tubes would be classics.
I know a lot of women like the pink.
Heck, everyone's got a favorite color!
I think getting it to look the way you want it is why a lot of vapers go for the Chuck.
So what do you think guys? Would you like to see this offered?
Steve? Good idea?
Happy vaping/ vaping Saved My Life!
:)

The problem with powder coating small batches is the setup fees/oven time.

We have parts / pieces powder coated from time to time and there's a minimum fee assocaited with the setup if we're doing 1 piece or 15.
If it was just tubes you could offer a few different colors but everyone would want something different.
*Look what happened when they opened the V2 design up to the peoples choice*

Their would be no way to have 4 tubes in yellow, 2 purple and 2 red for any kind of realistic price. The tube would wind up being more in the $45 - $60 range.
Then the problem would be with the logos. How to protect it during the coating process? Do they go back to the inscription like the original V1?

Great idea but I just don't see it as being doable and cost effective.

Black is the New Black.
Everyone loves Black. Especially for gadgets.
I wonder if Steve had 50 or 100 tubes done in Black if they would all sell?
Chime in with your interest in Black main tubes!
What about Anodization? Does that only work with aluminum?
Enamel? Which is the most cost effective?

Fauxpuff.... great idea!!!! You are spot on when you said we like to get new toys, however, PS makes the best ones so upgrading is pointless! I do find myself always going back to my Prodigy V1. :)

Of course I know Prodigy V2 will also rock and hope to have it in my hands next week. I would love to have it in different colors and pink is on of my favs!

Here is my vote to say Yes! I am on board!!!

I was planning on sprucing up my Prodigy V1 tube with a Gelaskin cover... already ordered an iPod Touch cover that'd do it. It would be cool to have the tubes already done in different colors or designs, but if you're craving a new look for your PV, that's maybe a place to start, for about $20 and a little skill with an X-Acto knife. (I may never get to do it now, looks like my beloved is going to inherit my V1 and he'll probably prefer the standard black to the battery-themed piece I found at Gelaskin.)
