Allright. I gotta question for all you coil builders and since I've never done it ... I'm feeling kinda chicken to ask anywhere else. I'm looking at the new dual coil setups for the kanger Mega and Dimitri (vaping Greek) points out the coils are using welded wire?

How in the heck do you weld wire that tiny (isn't it a miracle enough to thread cotton inside)??? Is that really necessary? What's with resistance and non-resistance wire anyway? I just have 28 guage... whatever.

Here's some big pics of the new bdc coil design different design

I thought starting out with protank coils would be kinda of a no brainer if needed and so far they've been so cheap I haven't needed to do any. I've been following along just fine ..... until this. I seriously hope they are pulling my leg. Be kind. I also suffer from overthinkers disease. (That's why I should never be allowed to touch a keyboard of a pc.)

I know there's a welder - but haven't seen it. The NR-R-NR configuration keeps the heat off the legs sparing your insulators. You can twist the wires together or make a square knot or use silver crimp beads too to connect. In some atties the non-r wire is needed in others not. It all depends on how close the wire is to the insulator. At least that is how I understand it. It was discussed in the killer 705 thread.

The non resistance to resistance wire welds helps keep ohms lower and not burn insulation from heat. Non resistance wire would be for your legs to the posts and not heat up. I don't know if you have used one of those vacuum food savers? Kind of like the heating wire used to seal the bags. You place the wires in then press down to sent the high voltage tho heat the wire and fuse them.

To weld those tiny wires you need a high voltage pulse to fuse them. If you are making your own nr-r-nr wire you don't NEED it wekded just wrapped together for contact.

I tend to relate to SteelJan's toaster when it comes to wires. I don't know if you've seen that episode, but it's a hoot. She's actually explaining vv/vw but her toaster theory of electricity is permanently embedded in my brain.

We are over 90F already. I'm always in a state of dread at this time of year. I gotta laugh, a friend of mine posted a picture from the view of her poolside now that the weather was "warm enough" for us weather wimps here. What cracked me up was it's a HEATED pool. Only in Arizona does someone need a heated pool when it's over 90F. LOL!

I woke up to a flat tire. Discount is closed today. I don't know of any gas stations (i.e. Circle K) still offering air. I'm not sure what to do.

Fix a flat can only be used once, call local gas stations first, see if they have air,if not do they have PEP boys or Goodyear tire co, they are usually open weekends. DO you have AT&T cell phone service? they have a roadside service plan that is very cheap and good, I can't think of anything else to do, sorry, a friend maybe take you to see if tire stores in your area can fix the tire? Sunday is a horrible day for this to happen, I have been there I understand.

Fix a flat can actually ruin a tire. If you do use it be sure to tell them at the garage so they don't get a face full of it when they break the tire open to change it.

Actually the tire guy will be more appreciative if you tell him ahead of time because of the propellant in the fix a flat can. Some brands use a mixture of propane and carbon dioxide. The propane can be explosive do if you tell them you used fix a flat they'll know to let the air out of the tire outside before trying to remove from the rim inside.

I'm glad you told me about fix-a-flat. I have road hazzard warrenty on my tires (free repair) because there's so many thorns etc. around here that easily pierce tires. The tires are good. I wonder if that would have voided my warrenty. I don't think there are any gas stations other than convience stores anymore.

You'd have to ask the retailer . I want to say with Goodyear, where I get my tires from, it voids the hazard warranty but not tread life one. My memory might be wrong. I've got AAA now on top of the road hazard for the wife's van and my truck,AAA on all the vehicles in my beater fleet.

Caseys around here are the only ones that offer free air anymore and you can ask the cashier to borrow a tire gauge if needed. the rest have automated pumps charging $1-$2.50 for ~3 minutes of air time. some only accept credit cards, others accept only coins. a few accept either.

Another suggestion we started carrying is a foot-operated air pump. Its slow and annoying, but its good in a pinch to get the vehicle off the rim long enough to get to the station or keep from breaking the bead on the tire. Ours, normally used on lawn mower tires, was $10 at wally world.

Each of my vehicles has a 12 volt air pump . You can find them online or locally from as little as $5 to as much as you're willing to spend. The one in my truck has an auto shutoff at the set pressure and fills a standard vehicle tire from flat to 35lbs in about 4 minutes. Got it clearance price at Target for $12. I WILL NOT pay for air at a gas station, have been using pumps for decades.

i had a 12v car pump, but last time i used it the piston (i think that what it was, was too frusterated with the broken thing to even try to fix it) snapped and would not prosuce any pressure. just kept running at 3x speed and rattled. no clue how it broke. i have a foot pump to use if im stranded or cant make it to gas station for the free air. also have ~7 gallons of gas in a can in my trunk for emergencies. also does not hurt that 7.5 gallons is 3/4 a tank in my car lol.

today i have been swapping back and forth between my mech (dual coil totaling 0.6ohm) and evic (1.5ohm coil) and cant decide which i like better at this time. was using the mech more just because the batteries were available and was charging the evic batteries. mech is about dead (3.7v and i have a noticeable decline in vapor so i charge it then) so back to evic i go.
