Thayamax you always have such nice things to say!
Bee double congrats!
Anthony I am on the same road! I actually just started to lower my cig count, yesterday was only four! Yay

Top dog glad to hear that this adventure I'd close to its end!

Todd I am with you these damn things! This weekend sucked for me, but yesterday I am back four!

Thanks, Darksparkle! I find it helps more to be encouraging than condescending when trying to help people quit smoking.

I quite like the idea of reporting publicly how many cigarettes I have smoked. It provides some reinforcement that every one less makes a difference and with public declarations, letting yourself down puts more at stake when having a bad smoking day.

I found that to be very important for me. I spent a lot of time in this thread when I was dual using. I would rant about how many I smoked, what problems and stresses I blamed for it and kept track of how I was able to cut back. All the while I got encouragement and understanding from all the great people in this thread who were going through the same difficulties I was. That's why when I got a week or so of not smoking I put up my quit smoking banner. It helped keep me on track because I didn't want to disappoint myself or others. It worked for me.

And. . The doctors are starting to p**s me off. Kept telling us home on Monday. Now they said his potassium is low so won't go home for at least another day. Of course its low after you gave him extra diuretic meds because you want him to pee more. So.. now being told maybe tomorrow

Dietitian came this morning and said child can have 20g of fat per day. Which is kind of ridiculous. They came when we were sleeping so couldn't ask questions because we were barely awake.

They want us back for a appointment with surgeon on Monday regardless of if we are released by then. Will be interesting getting to surgeon office with the anti theft child tags the kids wear. Walking within 20 feet of a door will trigger a amber alert lol. How do I know? Child ran off by himself twice while walking and we couldn't stop him before he set off the alarm lol.

There is a vape meet/party cookout thing this Sunday at a ecig store near here (kinda, a suburb of Peoria) that I want to attend but not sure will be able to.

Child was down to just the oxygen and heart monitor wires for a while now they say he is dehydrated and added a saline iv to try to help him not be dehydrated.

Seems I may not be going home too soon. Kinda wanted to go home this week to save vacation days for his make a wish trip late this year.

Thaya it's less than 2 weeks until a HUGE anniversary for you. What are you planning to celebrate? Nothing tame like breaking ashtrays or burying lighters, right? I'm so proud of you!!

My one-year quit isn't really a quit, more like a slowdown. Some hiccups along the way, but I am still going strong and damn proud of how many I have NOT smoked! I might celebrate my one year slowdown by declaring a total cessation, then celebrate the small milestones like I used to. Those milestones were huge motivators for me. And I need to be more active in this thread, because the support made ALL the difference. Me and Tapatalk are going to have to come to an understanding soon, or else the desktop is going in for repairs. Posting from a 7-inch screen is no fun. . . Of course when I can sneak in at work it's a boon.

Good luck everyone!!!

I think putting up the banner was crucial in my being able to quit, had I not had it up I know I would have smoked longer than I did. I struggled for quite a while even then but when it got really difficult I would come here and rant.
These people are great and gave me the support I needed during the tough times.

The other thing that really turned the corner for me was my first RDA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) and getting into the hobby aspect of vaping, it gave me something to do that I had never done while smoking so it couldn't act as a trigger. I'm not saying everyone should start rebuilding or start collecting mods, but I do think a new hobby of some sort that you've never done before could help.

Another thing that helped me I think was the fact that we had stopped smoking in the house years before, I think that made it a little easier. My main trigger was going outside or stepping into the garage. I also don't vape in the house except in the office at the computer when he is not home or not awake yet, and only with a window open and a fan blowing. He does not like me vaping in the house, but he does know that I vape in the office, just not when he is there. I think for him it is a case of he can't smoke in the house so I can't vape, but honestly I don't want to be blowing clouds of vapor all over the house either. RDA's do definitely produce a LOT more vapor and it does fog the place up.

I have to say it has been months since I have had any desire to smoke, I now crave a vape during times of stress.

I know, right? I can't wait to be able to say I haven't smoked for a whole year! I have no idea how to celebrate this milestone but I'm open to suggestions.

I really miss seeing everyone posting here like the old days. It seems most have moved on whether they quit smoking or not. We need to send out a bunch of PMs and call everybody back here. :glare:

I'm proud of you for the fact that you haven't given up and gone back to smoking full time, just because of a few slip ups. Keep counting the ones you didn't smoke and get that damn computer fixed!!! I miss you.

I miss you too!! I read all the time and try to keep up with the goings-on, just actual posting gives me a headache.

I got really angry at myself for messing up a good quit. From July until Thanksgiving I did not would not could not smoke. Thanksgiving Dinner stress + being at my sister's (who caused all the stress) where they smoke in the house + lack of intestinal fortitude = me smoking. Then fighting cravings after all that time, and being weak, and giving in to the cravings because it was easier. Then the horrible life event that made me realize smoking is no longer my cure-all for stress and only made me feel worse. THEN having the occasional cigarette just because, because the battery died or the topper leaked or the head got burnt-tasting or the liquid just tasted blah that day. Excuses, I got a million of em!

However, at the end of the day, every day, I am an ex-smoker. Flaws and all, I am an addict. Going back to my crutch shouldn't surprise me at all. So I stopped being mad about it, accepted it, and now I'm moving on. Baby steps will get me there, and if I ever reach Utopia I'll invite you over!!

Whew - finally caught up after last week's vacation. 10 days is a struggle to catch up on :)

The family went to Moab, UT for our annual Jeep vacation with some close friends. The weather was pretty good, 80s a couple days, 90s another and 1 day of 100 degrees. We had a breeze the whole time, so it helped it not feel so hot.

I had a mishap in the Jeep on Saturday though, I was coming up an obstacle I've run multiple times before, and slipped off a rock tipping the Jeep on its side.

HellsGateRoll.jpg

No injuries, and I was the only one in the Jeep, the wife and daughter were at the top of the hill watching. I dinged up a door, and was hanging from the seat belt for about 45 minutes while we were working to get it back on the wheels. I was pretty much chain smoking the whole time.

I'm so glad to see all of the success stories and the encouragement. I may not post all that much in this thread, but I certainly read each and every post. I'm so glad to have all of you for when I'm ready to pick up the pace again with 1 less analog a day. I've got the equipment, and I'm much closer to my ADV, so it'll only be a matter of time when I can turn my dual use into more vaping than smoking. I just know it.

I'm definitely spiraling downward lately. But setbacks are only speed bumps - just bounce over them and continue to move forward.

I think I got some bad flavoring  or maybe it was mislabeled  it's supposed to be "butter rum" but it tastes like "buttered rump" or maybe it's ".... rum" I don't know which but there's definitely .... in there :p
Of course I bought the 4 ounce size too

Ack, sorry, I know the feeling!

My downward spiral started yesterday, after a juice swap arrived that I absolutely hated. I’ve not liked things before, but I was and am still very surprised at how negatively I responded to the 3 juices. I’ll swap them with someone and be done with it, jeez. Not sure why I had a conniption and proceeded to chain smoke the evening away?!
