Thanks everybody for the support! I've noticed that the people here on ECF are so very generous. You guys rock!

Me and the Mrs. are vaping the MVP2 starter kit. We have iClear 30's right now, but we have two ProTank2's and and IGO-W on the way. I think the better flavor and delivery might help a lot, esp. for her.

We are vaping at 36mg right now, but for the IGO-W I ordered some 18mg juice because I read that drippers pack a punch and too much nic is harsh when dripping.

Our plan for the WTA and new hardware is this: Perhaps we will drip in the mornings before work (we get up at 5AM), and use the WTA in the dripper to "load up" for the day, and then go to work with the Protanks and MVPs and regular juice. We're also going to try laying off the WTA on weekends.

Another option for us is to load up on WTA on weekends and see if we can make it on regular juice during the week. I went for 2 weeks without a stinky and she went for 3 days without one when we first decided to quit and switch to vaping. SO, there is some "wiggle room" in there for us to figure it out. We plan to ween off the WTA and eventually nicotine altogether. We've allotted ourselves two years for the weening. That was before the WTA problem reared it's head.

We just got married this past Monday and want live to a long life together! Vaping seems a great way to do this!

Congratulations on your marriage! What a nice motivation for starting a new life together. Quitting together can be a great bonding experience and you have each other for support. :)

I never thought I'd be able to quit after smoking 3-4 packs a day and having been a smoker for 42 years, but as you can see, anything is possible. This last attempt was my third time trying to quit via vaping and it finally stuck. This time I started with Evods and a VV/VW mod and then settled on Protanks until recently when I switched to a KFL+ and building my own coils (try the rayon wick, it's amazing!). It doesn't get much better to me.

I continued to be a dual 1 pack a day user for 4 months until I finally found the thing that took me over the hump into vaping exclusively. Believe it or not, it was a cigalike! I couldn't fight the urge to smoke around the smokers at work until I got an eRoll. It felt so much like smoking that I was able to use it at work and avoid actual cigarettes. I put up my quit smoking banner soon after and I was so proud of myself I didn't want to mess it up. Even though I very rarely use my eRoll anymore (even at work) I credit it with my eventual success.

It's great to have a plan, and a backup plan. You never know what's going to work until you try it. Good luck to you and your wife, and keep us updated on your progress.

JohnTodd, I have to talk to you about WTA. For me it was truly a lifesaver. I vaped and smoked 1+ pack a day for over a year. WTA in flavors I loved, plus a stronger output device (think variable wattage instead of a standard ego-type) and the support I found in this thread allowed me to quit. I have slips occasionally, and borrow one from a co-worker or my sister, and during one particularly horrible life event I even bought a pack. They no longer satisfy the things I used them to satisfy, but I had to try them again.

Keep 2 devices handy, one with your regular liquid, and one with WTA. Use the WTA for a couple minutes when you really really want to smoke. Don't use WTA all day every day, it's way too expensive for that kind of use, and has a pretty powerful affect on mood.

Good luck with your quit, and congrats on being down to 1 a day!

Internet in the hospital is acting up. At family house (hotel for family of children in hospital at cheap rates for a few nights to get away from the hospital). They remembered me from 3 years ago because I am/was "the it guy who fixed the Internet" haha. They asked me to check out the wireless that its set up correctly. Still has default password. Someone set up speed limits and is using ~12 gigs of data in a few hours. They are now limited to dial up speeds for next 48 hours as punishment. Lol.

Im outside using my ecig because they asked me to use it outside. Several smokers have asked about it. Saw some mid 20s at a stoplight using a pipe mod and what im guessing was a tesla/vamo.

Went to jjvapes today. Liked it. Wish I had a store like that at home. They have a free soda fountain so you don't get a dry throat tasting thier many flavors. They are working on a mtn. Dew voltage flavor for girlfriend. They have a good selection of stuff. My coil needs rebuilt in protank and I forgot my multimeter. Grr. Plan to visit jjvapes again.

Need to head to bed.

Child is being weaned off surgery meds and back to regular meds. Doesn't want to drink many fluids. They want him on a low fat diet. After last surgery he needed a high fat/calories diet. Will be tough telling child no more french fries and cheese Burgers. And only skim milk for him. I can't even drink that water crap even with 3x chocolate milk mix in it.

Child is in an adult bed so we can lay/cuddle with him. He gas watched the movie cars so many times he is locked out for 12 hours lol. He told night shift nurse his name was lighting McQueen. When asked how to spell it he spelled his own name lol. Nurses and monitoring staff are calling him either lighting or McQueen now when talking about him lol. My child is in recovery less than 24 hours and gets a nickname.

I've had no problem taking e-ciggs on the plane. Tanks and bottles of juice need to go in your liquids baggie.

I have vooped on planes; hold in the vape and exhale toward the floor. However, you should realize they will give you MAJOR grief if the smoke alarm goes off, so it's up to you whether you decide to risk it.

Have a great trip!

I asked if I could use it inside and they said they are not sure if it would set off the fire alarms so I was asked to go outside. I didn't feel like chancing setting off the alarm at 3am if another parent had a bad day in the hospital and barely got to sleep.

They said child is doing well. He might be able to go home by Monday if he starts eating and drinking more.

And for the flying with ecigs. Keep chargers and batteries with your electronics. Try to keep tanks empty empty tanks don't need to be in liquids bag. Maybe use a carto? Put liquids in a ziplock bag, they might leak. Mine dribbled.

You can try picking up the courtesy/information phone and asking the airport what ecig policy is. Orlando and Indianapolis both told me I was free to vape but try to not bkow clouds and move away from people if asked.

Thanks all for the wonderful information! I am not leaving until after the fourth of July, so I have lots of time to plan what to take with me. It is a two week trip. Of course I will prob visit vape shop while on my trip but I always add vg to my liquid, so def have to pack some of that along! Maybe I just stick with my mvps and leave my other babies at home :glare:

Yay it's Friday!

Todays update, child is feeling like himself. he is looking forward to his walks now that he knows there are kids in the rooms around his and they all wave to him, and stop by to say hi when they go for thier own walks. he is starting to eat more. he wanted to eat bread all day, so we let him. then he saw me with soup. he did not want my soup. he wanted my crackers. grr. then me and girlfriend went to family house for a cookout they had (free food, and was hoping to see other parents to chat with them, maybe give advice if they had a child with a heart condition) then went to the casino for daily scratch off. neither of us won. then spent $50 in the slots and i won ~25. decided since it was winnings i would try one of the other games i liked. won 50 out of it. then went and spent it all on a new slot machine just to have it pay out 10 cents each roll. darn thing. i swear they pay out based on the time...

Paradice casino in Peoria is vape friendly! just dont bother people sitting next to you or you have to go outsdie with the smokers (not too bad, just outdoors so possibly windy/cold/rainy). couldnt get a manager to talk to me but security told me it was fine to use it. then showed me thiers. one had a MVP, the other a provari.

Congrats on your 3 cig day! Smoking triggers are the worst. For many years my car wouldn't start unless I lit a cigarette first. Before cordless phone were common, I couldn't answer the phone unless I grabbed my smokes and lighter first. We all have certain triggers, but some are universal. Being on the computer was tough for me for a while, and after eating.....forget about it!

Keep up the good work. :toast:

Got a call this morning as we were checking out of the family housing. Child was to be moved from intense care to regular care area. He is doing great. Drs are saying should be released Monday and Tuesday at latest if everything stays on track (only thing left is chest drain tubes and a single iv line used to draw blood samples so they don't have to stick him every time).

My biggest smoking trigger im facing is the monitor destat sound (alarm dings when something is out of the allowed limits, then if it stays for 30 seconds it goes unstable or if stats drop past warning. ) always made me stress after was normal then go smoke. And child screaming in pain.

They set the tolerance too high. Lol. Got them to fix it when I oresses the call button every time it went off. Pages nurse and tries to auto answer so they immediately hear the room.

Now we are dealing with a itchy child who does not want to wear the leads causing the destat sounds.

Napping now. Eating lunch then watch tv. Will visit jjvapes again tomorrow I think. Plan to stay for a bit. Maybe abuse thier tools since I forgot some of mine at home.

So glad to see this here. I had quit smoking and only vaping for 4 months, was so proud that I was the only vaper at work, and then the stress of the new job with the a++ holes of people at work led me back to smoking. Now trying to quit again and hoping that the order I just made of juices will be the ones that help me kick the smoking thing again. And trust me I have tried about every juice out there so far no flavor has been the one.

Hi there, sometimes it's not just one thing (the "right" flavor, the "right" setup, the "right" time). It's a combination of things. Triggers like stress, bad health, even good things like a celebration can be the toughest. Hope you are able to find the best combination to get you through (sometimes it IS just having that one cigarette to take care of it). It isn't easy, but after some time it does get easier.
