I have been doing exactly that, as recommended in the thread linked.
I am almost wondering if I need to remove the top seal and just operate thusly. It is just weird. I know the thing is supposed to be vacuum operated, but this one seems to flow better without the vacuum

Sounds like you're wicking too much. Stop your wick on the very top of the build deck and not down in the juice channels.

Hmmm... that was the only thing I could think of.

Couple questions:
When you take a drag on the Kayfun (working and not dry), do you get an air bubble in the juice that floats to the top?

How tight is your airflow (relatively)?

What is the pg/vg blend in your juice?

Well, it did help when I started building that way. So it was a good suggestion.

I wasn't getting a bubble. That is when I started tinkering with loosening the cap. First, just for a moment, just long enough to get the bubbles to rise. Then finally I just left it loose. (Not like about to fall off loose. Just loose enough that the top seal wasn't seated.

I have played with the adjustment screw for the airhole. As you know, even wide open the kayfun draw is a bit tight. Which makes sense being designed as a vacuum system. Also, this clone did not come with the drip tip adapter. So I am running with stock mouthpiece.

My juice is VG heavy. I would say about 25/75 Pg to VG.

Hmmm... that was the only thing I could think of.

Yeah, That is about what I have. I am a little more wider, covering the base above the channel. Not down in the channels at all though.
OK even with the juice blend it should be alright. I run 70% vg in mine all day, so I wouldn't imagine that another 5% would fail to work.

I would start by thinning down your wick with tweezers and try that.

What I've found is you almost want to be flooded (leaking out the airhole) and it works great.

I have the Russian 91% and find I have to fiddle with the airflow to open it up more sometimes. I lowest ratio I vape is 50/50. I have done some reading and have heard of several people totally removing the airflow screw on their Kayfun clones. I think I also read of a couple of people drilling the hole out more, but that one you would need to research.

These things seem to all have their own personalities. I always get the vacuum going and get the air bubble floating up after filling and putting it upright. Are you filling through top or bottom?

Too much cotton in my wick also kicks my .... and I have to rewick with half the cotton I think I need. I have not found the happy spot with rayon yet so back to cotton for now. Nets and dark juices will gum up the works quickly too.

Well, my friends, I was going to start a thread about an issue I am having. But I thought I would bring it to y'all first. Reason being, we seem to be having good communication. I like y'all. So thought I would bring it here first.

Okay, so I got a kayfun 3.1 clone a few weeks ago. Not sure if Hcigar or what clone type it is. First off, wow, never seen so many parts on a single tank. My word! Kinda fun though.
Now, I know the kayfun is SUPPOSED to be a vaccum operated system. But the only way I can seem to get this thing to work properly is to either leave the top unscrewed a bit (threaded but not sealed, with the top seal actually visible) or to unscrew the top every now and then to let juice run down into the chamber.
Normally, this should flood the kayfun. But in my case, it just seems to make it operate normally.

I did view this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...kayfun-russian-wick-setup-works-great-me.html
and I started building according to this plan. It DID help. But still getting dry unless I leave the top loose.

JJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI! (waves vigorously........) Wow, we have missed you here! So good to hear from you.

I have made a couple of DiY juices. And I am finally building coils and using cotton wicks. I am growing up in vaping. No mechs or sub ohms though. Not happening here. I would blow myself up. I know me.

So, what's the scoop. Fill us in on your adventures.

I just tried that with the airflow screw out and it actually pretty good.

I get the vacuum all the time too, even when I take a good drag. And yes, I had to learn to wick much lighter too coming from a dripper.

Hey JJ!! Don't be a stranger, you hear???

And hello everyone else. Still not smoking unless I'm around my sister, still trying to resist the lure but so far unsuccessful. One step at a time.

School is about to start. Bedtimes and wakeup times are about to change. Mine included! This is really going to stink.

Hope you're all having a great day!!
