Hey Lox! Long time no see!

Sorry I've been scarce lately, not much to add to the conversation and not a lot of free internet time these days.

Still not smoking and very rarely craving (whoopee!!) only when majorly stressed. Those are the worst! The stress makes me want a cig, but smoking makes me so mad at myself that I erase all the stress-relief I just got!![emoji13]

Hope you're all doing fantastic, keep up the good work, and of course prayers unceasing for everyone. Good night!

My house has been sick for the last week or so. Today was the first day of not sleeping 12 hours and not coughing up a lung. Now I just have occasional lung punctures from a cough (not really, coughed too much in the last week my chest is tender) and a random leaky nostril if I tilt my head slightly.

Had fun earlier when I was looking in the freezer to see what to make for dinner. Blew a cloud into the freezer and watched it condense and roll down the side lol. Should try it.

ROFL... sometimes when I'm standing there at the fridge, taking inventory or trying to figure out what to cook, I find myself blowing a cloud in there, and then think, ooo maybe that's not such a good idea.

My THANKS to AndriaD for steering me to this thread. I've been vaping for about 2 months and having a terrible struggle keeping away from cigarettes right now. I'll probably be in here quite often before I lose my mind.

It really has been kinda quiet in here for awhile; either everyone is vaping happily, or have just decided not to stress about still smoking, over the holidays -- bet it might really pick up in here, after the first of the year! :D

The best thing someone told me, when I was struggling with the coffin nails in the summer, was that I was not a failure, because I was still vaping and trying to cut down the cigarettes -- failure is only if you quit trying! :thumb:

I've been ripping and running so much working between different bases that I'm surprised I'm not smoking like a freight train. The last base I worked, I was stealth vaping under the desk. Didn't have time for a cigarette (Blessings in small disguises) What I've done is stash the pack of cigarettes in the glove box of my car along with the lighter. That means I have to stop everything I'm doing to walk out to the car to get a cigarette, SO, it's easier to pick up the vape. That doesn't mean I'm wanting one less. It just means I'm making it harder to get one. :D So, if it seems that I'm loony tunes right now, it's because I AM!!

Welcome to the thread, Rotowoman! It's nice to see a new face around here. Most everyone seems to have fallen away from posting here much, but I'm sure most of the regulars check in now and then.

Stashing your cigarettes in an inconvenient place is a helpful strategy at work, and even better at home where you have more time and thoughts about wanting one. I'm sure Andria has told you about her success using WTA which could be an option for you if your cravings get out of hand.

Good luck in your vape journey. It's nice to meet you and I hope to see you around a lot. :)

Hi, Rotowoman. Welcome to the thread. 2 months vaping is a good start. What are you using for gear and have you found your nic level and a couple of juices that satisfy you? Do you like the tobacco flavors or the fruity or dessert flavors?

For me, especially the first few months of vaping, I found that I had to find the particular equipment that worked for me. It had to be easy and I had to be able to adjust the voltage up or down depending upon the juice or atty I was using.

And it all clicked for me when I found the right nic level. I started with 18mg and it seemed to be fine but I felt like the cigarettes were chasing me. I was still craving them. Not all the time, but enough that I would beat myself up over it and drive myself nuts. Someone here suggested I up my nic level to 24mg and that did the trick for me. The cravings disappeared. What sealed the deal was when I found a juice that I loved. It was a sweet tobacco and it was almost the only flavor I vaped for the first 4 months of vaping. Nothing else seemed to satisfy me.

Stick with it. Vaping does work. It is more fiddly than just lighting up a cigarette but it will become much more pleasurable for you in time. It takes a lot of people a while to find gear that works for them and the juice hunt seems to never end for some people. There seem to be 2 camps of people. Those that like to have an all day vape flavor and those that like to switch it up all day long. It takes time to figure out what will work for you. But if you keep trying things, it will happen.

Keep hanging out here and ask all the questions you want. Don't be shy. You will get answers and opinions and will be pointed in the right direction.

I am no longer struggling with wanting a cigarette but it took me over 6 months to feel really comfortable with not smoking. I have been cigarette free for almost a year and a half now. But if you go back and read the old thread from last summer, you will see several of us that gritted our teeth and did a round the clock rant and rave party to keep vaping and get a handle on the smoking. There is a lot of valuable life experiences in that old thread that will help you get through this part of your journey. Here is the link.

True, and even those of us who like to vape the same thing all day, can benefit from an occasional change -- "tastebud fatigue" really does happen, sort of like "olfactory fatigue" where you stop smelling the smell of your own home, unless you leave it for a few hours and then come back in. Sometimes if I just can't seem to taste my blueberry muffin/banana nut bread, I'll vape something else, even just a few puffs can be helpful. Even just vaping some plain banana nut bread for a few puffs, when I come back to the mix of flavors, the blueberries really stand out and sing!

I ordered some Inawera Shisha Strawberry last night, so I'm really looking forward to trying some of that with the DX Bavarian Cream (no diketones) I got last week, that I haven't tried yet. I had been dragging my heels on ordering some strawberry flavor, because I like sweet, not tart, but this one says "like a sweet strawberry dipped in sugar"... I think that'll be right up my sweet-tooth. :D

I guess what baffles me the most is that in the beginning, I was almost off cigarettes totally. I went from 2 packs a day to a pack a week. For me, that was a drastic change, and it was good. It was even better when I read Andria D's writings on WTA! When I started having equipment issues, everything went to hell in a hand basket. I started craving cigarettes like I had lost my mind.

As of right now, the equipment problem is solved. I'm using an MVP2 with some Aspire ETS tanks. I tried the AERO Tank and couldn't get it to work right to save my neck, and I just haven't had time to diddle with it. I've been working in the field for two weeks now with little time to myself and to even breathe. Can we say a tad stressed??? Last night, I worked at a field base where we had issue upon issue, and if I could have smoked, I would probably polished off a pack in less than 8 hours. However, I wasn't in a position to do that (thank goodness!) Boy, did I do some under the desk vaping!!

As for juice, right now I'm finding that I'm doing pretty good with a ry4 tobacco and a vanilla custard..., mostly the ry4. I'm almost out of that, but I'm not buying anything until after the 1st. I have other juice that I have to deal with, and everything I have is decent. What I WILL do is up the dose to 24 because right now I'm at 18, and it's not quite satisfying me, although it was in the beginning. That's what I find so strange.

The first time I tried to dry-burn the coil for my Kanger T3S, was the only time during my first go-round that I had cravings at all -- I was so afraid of doing it wrong, of doing anything at all with electrical stuff. I was so stressed that I hauled out my eRoll again and vaped that a little, and held it a LOT, to give me that 'cig in hand' feeling. But once I got the T3S's coil sorted out, I went back to my vv3+T3S and put the eRoll away again.

Other than that stress, I really didn't suffer any cravings till after my appendectomy; partly that was the 4 days of being unable to vape, but I think the issues with my colon, the infection, the surgery, etc, were the main reason; I think it was probably the anabatine my body was craving, because once I got the WTA, the cravings went and stayed away. I'm still vaping WTA, I mix it at 10% with my ejuice, but after the first of the year, I'm going to very slowly start mixing it a little weaker, and try to wean off of it, very slowly. I'm almost to the point of being able to DIY all my juice, so it would sure save some money if I didn't need the WTA at all.

When you go up to the 24mg nic take it a little easy. I dove head in and only vaped the 24mg all the time and ended up not being able to sleep for about 3 months. No cravings but I was an absolute zombie. A lot of people will keep one tank with the 24mg in it and vape it for a while and then go back to their 18mg or whatever they usually vape. You also need to be aware you may get a nic rush and it can be unsettling. You have been vaping long enough to know what will work for you I think.

I hate gear issues. I have Russian 91%s and when I have trouble coiling or wicking them it drives me batty. I get super frustrated since when I have trouble it seems I can not get it right for a couple of days. So I keep a bunch of 510 attys around and go back to my old school dripping. Sometimes I find myself dripping for several days. It works out good since I vape a lot less juice and save some money. lol

The wayward child is back....yeah, that would be me!! :D I've been ripping and running still between bases with no real time to get on a computer and do anything. I'm finally back at my home base and I'm ready for a slow down!! Now that the stress levels have lowered a bit, I've been turning to the cigarettes less and less. I still want to up my dosage of nicotine, but I think that will wait until after Christmas. I think I may just sleep my Christmas Day away!!

Sleep is highly underrated for dealing with any kind of stress, IMO. If I'm depressed and just can't get myself out of myself, I go to sleep. When I first quit drinking, and the powerful craving for a drink would hit, I'd go to sleep. If you're tired, it's so easy to give in to those things the "little self" wants -- the screaming 3 yr old in the brain who only knows I WANT IT AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!

When you wake up nice and rested, find some really yummy juice and just vape, vape, vape. :) I just got some Inawera Shisha Strawberry flavoring, and it's amazing. I'm still working on a recipe, but god, it's so yummy, and stuff I'm mixing it with is too -- bavarian cream, thinking of adding a touch of french vanilla to it, too -- I love working on recipes like this, and not even having to worry about getting fat! :D

Ive been out so disconnected the last few days. Child decided to try to call grandpa and ran off to the bathroom to talk. Dropped my phone into the tub where phone decided to start doing rainbow strobe effects. Pulled the battery, placed phone in highest proof alcohol I had, and left it for a day. Then placed on heat register for 2 days to dry out. Phone works now. Horray.

Seems my body wants to drop nic levels again. Or at least less nic while dripping. Seems like 6 mg hits the spot and flavor tastes the best, while higher nic tastes off. But 18-24 in my tanks hits the spot oddly.

Im stuck on 2 flavors at the moment and have less than 7ml of either. Grr. Its alice in vapeland 15 foot falls, and puff vapors lv (las Vegas, but bottle says lv) puff butter.

Yeah, the mail is being less than helpful; I put in my next-to-last carto this morning, got one left -- and 10 of them out there in USPS land, somewhere. Tracking page says they're supposed to be here today -- but I'm thinking, probably not, since they haven't even hit Atlanta yet -- unless they did, and some nimrod in ATL decided, oh, why scan anything, I'll still get paid!

I can relate to "disconnected" right now. My last hitch home, I was in and out, and then back out, so I'm only faintly remembering what "home" looks like anymore. My poor dog is upset with me. The cat really doesn't care, and I would like nothing better right now than to be home, under a blanket watching mindless stuff on TV and vaping something really nice.
