First, Etheral glad to hear that you are better than previous. Thoughts and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. My father has heart problems, and it scares the bajesus out of me half of the time. Never fails to make me cringe wondering what it is that is going to happen to him next. Just follow the doc's orders as best as you can man. Not much more we can do about those kinds of things without a ton of spare cash laying around to buy a new one.

Anthony, first off congrats on quitting or making the move to attempt it. We all struggled with quitting. So no worries there. Past that, just take it a day at a time man. Don't get ahead of yourself and keep focused on your goal. Best wishes to you as well. If you are as stuborn as I am, just set it in your mind that you are not going to buy any, and you are not going to smoke any. It helped me through the first few days.

And on to me. I'm back on the lookout for a new boxmod. I'm thinking the big boy sigelei 150W. But I'm not certain at the moment. So much tech. so little brain room.

Hi Anthony B! You so eloquently put into words what I've been thinking for months now. I think, for me, it's all been quite a psychological thing. I've been blaming my inability to totally put the cigarettes down on equipment, life changes, and everything else I can think of. I have reduced from 2 packs a day to 1/2 a pack a day, but mentally I can't seem to rid myself of the idea that I need to keep a pack of cigarettes around "just in case". I too have envied those who could pick up vaping and never look at another cigarette again. I've been down the WTA trail also, and it helps, but I just can't seem to wean myself off those last few ciggies. I've been ...... with myself for months now.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've ...... with myself for a good long while too.

It took 3 separate attempts with ecigs over the course of 4 years to finally work for me. Even the last time, I was a dual user for 4 months before it finally worked for me. This thread was a tremendous help to me and I couldn't have done it without the encouragement and support I got from the people here. :toast:

Keep trying AnthonyB. Hopefully one day soon things will fall into place for you as well. :thumb:

When I had my month-long smoke-break in the summer, I was pretty mad at myself about it. But DavidOck asked me if I had stopped vaping; I said no, I keep trying to vape more and more so I can lay the smokes down again. He said that meant that I had not failed, because I was still trying -- you only fail if you quit trying. Just like all the years between my last attempt at the patch, when I quit trying because it was just too miserable. E-cigs changed that completely. That 2nd go-round, it was harder than the first time, but I just kept reminding myself, smoke-free was in fact what I really wanted, so it was worth some effort to re-attain it. I made myself do it, because I knew already, from that first 3.5 mos of smoke-free I had, that it was entirely possible with e-cigs -- unlike any other NRT EVER. :thumb:

Just don't stop trying, but try to stop being mad at yourselves. It takes what it takes, and it's different for everyone, but as far as I can tell, the only ones who don't eventually manage to switch entirely to vaping, are those who quit trying. Pressuring yourself induces stress, which is completely counterproductive for the quitting of something that relieves stress! :D

ETA: There's some sort of saying in Yiddish that my ex told me about, something to the effect that if a Jewish man eats pork, he should enjoy it so much, the fat runs down his chin. Same for cigarettes -- if going without a cigarette is going to induce a lot of stress for you, then smoke it, and enjoy it! Because you know it's on the way out, so enjoy it as long as you are able -- most do eventually get to the point that cigarettes, compared to vaping, taste so nasty that you don't even WANT to do that! I agree that it's mostly psychological, which is why I still have that last pk in the freezer -- I have options, and free choice -- and I'd really rather vape! If those cigarettes were gone, I'd be going nuts! Even though I have no intention of smoking them, I have agency in the matter, there is zero pressure, just my own preference.

work, wife and teenage girls is what drove me back to vaping. thats what were here for to drive our significant other crazy :pop::smokie:

Same here. I told my husband last night, you may be a huge pain in my .... sometimes, but if you ever get a terminal diagnosis, go on and kill me, so I don't have to live without you. Because I literally couldn't. He's the air I breathe, the beat of my heart, and every-other thought in my head.

after 16 yrs of marriage i dont want another woman then i wud have to get to know her and all that other crap. :D take me outta my misery

We'll have our 28th anniversary in July... and I know for a fact that no other man would ever be as tolerant of me as my husband is, and most likely that I'd never find another whom I could tolerate. :D Because I think that's the chief requirement for long term marriage... plain old toleration. :D

So, spent yesterday in the hospital after a heart attack... not fun.

Sorry I've been lurking, work has been a mess and the new phone is crap signal

Ouch! I hope it was not a big one. Let us know you are all right. Looks like you will have some lifestyle change stuff to deal with. I had to do that too. It is not so bad once you get used to it. I have been a lurker too, lately.

Haha, it was 28 yesterday, and we had people in shorts/no jackets. No rain though, just multiple inches of snow still on the ground.

I was not on of these people, though I did let the minions go outside in sweatshirts instead of full on winter gear lol

Hi, Kittyn, how are you? Good to see you back here.

Don't get me started on the weather. When we moved here from CT 11 years ago I thought we were moving to the South. We have been having ice storms and a bit of snow for almost 3 weeks now. Have barely been able to leave the house for a week at a time. Good thing I buy food to stock a large pantry. We would have starved. But the canned soups and pantry throw together dinners are getting old and boring.

We finally got over 50 degrees the past day or 2. With the warmer temps comes the rain. Sigh........... At least the ice melted; now for the flood watches this week.
