I can see a pattern tonight from the last 8 days. Morning and night are my hardest times. I want to start the day with about 5 cigarettes and end the day the same way. From around
11 am-8 pm I feel more like a 'vaporer', (and very proud) but mornings and nights, I feel more like a smoker again. Any thoughts on this?

P.s. 17 cigarettes today. Off to bed before I smoke another one.....

Hugs to all!

One has to find the patterns in order to change them. Being mindful of where your weak points are is the first step to building a good defense.
Thank you KC.
I have no idea why I waited one hour before I lit up this morning... but I did it. I wasn't even planning that? I just did it. Wow. I hope that this will help me to cut down even more today.

Up until 4 o'clock today, I smoked 6 cigarettes. I was amazed at myself. I started out with 19 this morning. 19 is my number this week. Cutting back one this week (from 20) was my intention.

Then.... family stress hit and I was very upset about something that happened to my (older) son today. He was very distressed. So from 5 o'clock till now, I smoked another 7. I have 6 left in my pack.

So I know now that in stressful moments, I want the 'real thing'. My mind says it brings comfort... but I know after reading and reading on this site that smoking the real cigs will not take away the problem. So that's another area I need to be aware of.

Even after all the stress tonight, I still smoked less today than when I first joined the site over a week ago. I'm down under one pack and that's from 2 packs (and more) a day. I guess that's not too bad.

Thank you for listening to all my rantings. I sure do appreciate the encouragement. Today, for a few minutes, I wanted to give up. But I won't.

Goodnight. Y'all sleep tight. (hugs) for everyone.

I put up a picture of the real 'struggling me' for you all to meet. My name is Donna. Glad to meet you all.

Goodness, I hope I am not boring you guys!! I think I need to write because it will show me my own progress and maybe help someone else who is struggling.

I'm not sure if this is all in my head or not but I woke up with a ton of energy this morning. I went crazy and didn't care about my breathing. In fact, I didn't get too much out of breath!! (and I have the beginning stages of Copd)

Counted out 19 real cigs. Been up for 2 hours and smoked 3 so far this morning. I got my kitchen, bathroom, stairs all washed and waxed! I shined a couple of mirrors, put bed sheets in the washer and am all dressed for the day. I haven't done that much housework in years first thing in the morning like that in a very long time!! Maybe cause it's spring here in eastern Canada?? Lol

Going to try to meet up with my boy this morning to see how he is doing. It really hurts you when your kids (grown adults) are going through a hard time. I remember those days as a youngster.

Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll check in later!

Love and (hugs) to you all.

I wanted to post a couple of funny, little things that happened today. I had a real cigarette going and I kept reaching for my vape instead!! Almost forgot I was trying to smoke a real one! Lol As I was sitting here reading this thread, the smoke from the real one was driving me crazy!! I kept moving the ashtray! Lol I could smell the cigarette smell in my house again today. But I got the cleaning gear as suggested!

19 in the pack this morning. 6 left. Even if I decide to have 2 more reals ones, I still smoked the lowest yet! That would be 16 today.

8 days on this site and I was a 2 pack a day (or more) smoker just over a week ago. I can't believe I am doing this!!

I really think the 'nic salts' are the answer to many chain smokers. There is only one store in our city that have them. The rest I have been to have been very interested in my story because it seems that when I started the 'nic salts', it satisfied me much better than the other juice. I automatically desired less to smoke the real ones? And I think it was this 'nic juice'. It's supposed to be more like a true cigarette 'hit' in the bloodstream and they say it crosses the blood-brain barrier much faster? You can only use this type of juice in a smaller vape because the big vape would cause a huge amount of nicotine and be too much so it is advised to stay to the 'pen style' ones for a while. I might stay on this for a whole year.

I'm just learning this stuff so if I'm wrong, someone correct me. But I think this could help others. I really do.

Hey @Hopeful64. Your posts are never boring! Keep writing - do anything you think is going to help you. As you said, it may also help someone else who is struggling.

Times of stress can be difficult. Early on in my transition I went through a rough patch too, and reverted back to almost full time smoking. Such a hard habit to break and the mindset can be very strong to reach for that 'known' comfort. But when I realised that the cigarettes weren't actually helping, I pushed them aside and went for the vape. It is (for me) re-training the mind. I hope things are ok with your son. When your kids hurt, you hurt too.

I really think the 'nic salts' are the answer to many chain smokers.
I haven't tried the Nic salts as yet but many people at ECF have only good things to say about them. The Whole Tobacco Alkaloid (WTA) certainly helped me cut down on the cigarettes earlier on. I still use them to stay on track when I am feeling stressed or out of sorts. Psychological? Possibly...but it works for me!

I love that you are focusing on the vape related positive things. More energy, feeling healthier, more money saved and a cleaner smelling house! And it is terrific to meet you Donna! You are doing amazing well.
With love,
Catherine

We are watching from all corners of the world!
Do you suppose hundreds of other people are lurking watching this progress??? Cause, I don't find many people are on this thread now. Maybe, they're off making their own stuff! Maybe, I'll even make my own coils someday!! (not) Lol

Goodness, maybe I should write a small book if I ever get down to saying goodbye to the last cigarette! I'll call it, ''Duel-Fueling to Quit Smoking!'' Lol
And then I'll make a million dollars!!

The juice will tend to lose its flavor from time to time... dunno why it just happens.

Bringing this forward because I tried the ''dill pickle juice rinse'' today and it worked!! (this is recommended for 'vapors' mouth/no taste' of juice anymore) Rince with a bit and spit, then rinse mouth with water. The flavor of my juice came right back! :D

Hi guys! Just a quick update cause I'm too lazy and tired to write tonight. Counted out 19 and there is still 5 left in the pack. Smoked 14. Lowest yet.

At one point today, I couldn't wait for the real 'smoking' cigarette to go out so I could get back to my delicious vape..... but also this morning (stress again) several of those 14 cigarettes were chain-smoked. I guess every day is a little different. Some good progress and then becoming very aware of when and why you think you need the real thing.

I hope you are all doing well tonight! Love and hugs to all....

Posting before reading, will go back and catch up

The morning smoke happened. In the garage while the keurig brewed the coffee. Then the one before heading out, but that one got snuffed/butted.
I lit one 4 different times on the golf course, so that's 2.5. Even with beverages after I vaped and vaped and vaped.
Then we visited the LVS (Local Vape Shop) and visited and vaped and tasted and bought.
Get home and sit on the front porch with more beverages, and still only vaped, dripped, vaped and vaped some more.

Lit a smoke while cooking supper (yes, that's a thing, even though it means going to the garage to do so, but that's literally 10 steps out the door off the kitchen), about 3 drags and butted it.

Decided to come here to chronicle it.

Yesterday I vaped at work. Slammed all day, and the only one there from 9 am til 8 pm. Lunch was had at 8 pm.

Literally no time to sit, eat, or leave the salon, so I vaped stealth while mixing colours.

Posting here finally has helped, as it's made me accountable, not only to the thread, but to ME.
Oh, and I've made it to 400 of the original 1100 pages of this thread!
