Unfortunately there is no magic cure for smoking. I've never tried WTA but many say it quiets the urges to some degree which makes it a little easier to fight them off. Did you find that to be the case with you? I applaud your determination to cut down by 1 cigarette daily each month. I believe that should be a great way to finally give them up. You're not denying yourself completely and yet you are following a plan to becoming a non-smoker. Good for you. :thumb:

That is exactly why I got it, but just the opposite happened. I wanted to smoke cigs more! The same thing happened when I tried Wellbutrin to quit smoking. Maybe I wasn’t mixing it right. Either way, I have quit smoking “cold turkey” before, so I know I can do this! After all, I have vaping and a new support system. :2cool:

Try the wta straight. When you dilute it into nicotine you change the ratio of wta.

I did, but did not like it at all!

I love your positivity, Robin. You can do this. I found that having vaping as a replacement for my smoking habit was great, but the support I found here is what really allowed me to finally give them up. Keep up the good work. :toast:

Yesterday, I discovered that wta would not magically make me give up analogs. When I started vaping 3 months ago, I knew it would be gradual thing for me. I allowed myself 5 cigs the 1st month and 4 the next. I'm down to 3 a day. Next month, I plan to cut that down to 2! :thumb:

Hi there, this is a cross post, as I replied to your post in the WTA thread:

Sorry to hear about the ruined juice!! Anything added to a premix WILL dilute the flavor, depending on how much is used...Maybe buy another bottle of premixed and mix that back in to the ruined bottle - you may still be able to salvage it.

On the WTA front, my experience is that yes - WTA has an undoubted effect. But at a certain point, discipline does have to factor in to your results. Unless you're dealing with health issues that you may be unaware of (which is what happened to me), or psychological "dams" that may be halting your progress, you will need to have at least SOME will power and determination to stay away from smoking. That's where a community like this can help, or counseling. If you're not really determined to quit, WTA won't be the magic bullet that "makes" you stop. There is a lot more to the habit than physiological, and those are the hardest hurdles to get over. Wishing you the best!

I did find that when I used WTA more than a few times a day (ie, used the same tank all day with WTA in it) it did increase my urge to want a cigarette. It has to do with the relationship between the minor alkaloids and the nicotine. The presence of the minor alkaloids has been shown to increase the desire for continued nicotine consumption. So I would urge against the exclusive use of WTA, and only intermittent use during the strongest triggers that make you want to smoke, whatever those may be. Again, wishing you the best and hopefully you'll be able to tame this monster.

Lox, I have had that dry sensation a number of times. Over the months I have tried to keep track of what is causing it. I find for me it seems to be a combination of things. If I have a particular juice that is a more delicate flavor I find that anything I eat or drink outside of water will interfere with my ability to enjoy the flavor of that juice. I have discovered that I will vape and not eat or drink as much water as I normally would so I can keep that sweet spot of flavor running, which in the long run gets me dehydrated a bit and then throws everything off.

I have also found that my need for water or switching flavors is more necessary when I am using my R91. I think the ability to mindlessly vape triggers me to do just that. So I am now trying to limit my use of the R91 to specific periods of vaping and I drip a different juice to break it up and drink water, etc.

I find I have trouble with the Igo-L giving me a sore throat and irritating me even farther down than just my throat. So I guess that means I do not do good with what is called lung inhales. The Igo-L is put away for short vape sessions and for emergencies. Not worth the sore throat.

I drink very little soda in real life and when I do I find it drys me out and it is not refreshing. I wonder if the component in the soda vapes that makes the fizzies can do that to you when you vape a soda?

I mainly vape Ahlusion and The Plume Room and do not vape any menthols or mints so my breadth of knowledge with various types of juices and vendors is limited. I vape pretty much 70/30 with my tobaccos and either 70/30 or 50/50 with the rest of my flavors.

Thanks Shari. It's not dry mouth like from vaping. I drink Gatorade lemon lime to cure that btw.
It's not a gradual thing. The first hit - the vapor itself feels dry and instantly seems to dry out your mouth and tongue. It's the weirdest thing  feels like a dry film. I'm not going to use it anymore until I find exactly what's in it. I'm thinking it can't be good - what does it do to lungs?

It’s interesting how drugs/chemicals affect people differently. Well, I'm not using it anymore. In fact, I've already traded it away! ;) Thanks for your kind words of support. :)

Hmm. Interesting experience trying to vape in a convertible going 70 mph during a wind gust. Almost thought I would loose my pv.

Going to watch a movie. Not sure what one yet.

Yesterday at family get together uncle who used to smoke asked about ecigs. Wondering if they might help him with his nervous eating like cigarettes did. Let him try my ecig since he asked to. He might end up getting a 0nic setup to use.

Oh, sorry misunderstood. I find a real high pg will be harsh and drying, but have not had exactly what you describe happen to me yet. What juice was it that did that to you. A DIY or a vendor juice.

I do not think I would vape it either. I have no clue what would do that. Let us know what you discover.

That is awesome! I hope it works out for him...

Just dropping in and voicing support for those who vape and smoke :)

I saw a member - dual-user - saying the other day that many members hold dual users in contempt. I just wanted to come by and say "shame on such people!" and not all members are like that. Every cigarette not smoked is a great advance for your health. And don't let people tell you otherwise, please.

I made the transition immediately, myself. Which was not an achievement on my part. Not at all. The time was right - and I was lucky. That is all.

Thanks for stopping by and lending those words of encouragement.

I was lucky like you. I pretty much stopped smoking within a week or so of starting to vape. But it was a struggle to not smoke for a long time. Not as easy as it seems to be for some people.

The only reason that I was not a dual user for months was that I am very stubborn and I found my juice that satisfied me and nicotine level quickly. I drove several people around me nuts for quite a while in my early vaping days trying to find the right setup and juice. And the withdrawals for me were a lot of sleepless nights along with some of the mental battles of not picking up that first cigarette.

My pleasure, dear :)

... that I am very stubborn and I found my juice that satisfied me and nicotine level quickly.

Same here :)
I used to love small, sweet-flavored cigars. They taste nice. So the first liquids I ordered with my eGo T starter kit back in 2011 was one tobacco and one caramel. Mixed them in the tank - yummy :) Later I refined this into Cuban Supreme (cigar flavor) mixed with caramel / torrone / butterscotch / vanilla custard liquids. I can mix precisely my beloved small cigar flavor. It makes me feel sated, satisfied, happy :) (And this mixture has had the same effect on several new vapers to whom I recommended this in my home forum)

- And it even fully satisfied a weird (?) small cigar nostalgia that I got in Nov 2013 - 2 years after I transitioned to vaping - while drinking a glass of red wine and reading an article on Cuba. Which country manufactures - you guessed it - cigars :D

In addition, when I started up my 1st e-cig, I had just had one case of carbon monoxide poisoning - from chain-smoking too much - too many. The kind that feels like a hangover, even the next morning. You can imagine my elation when I was able to chain-vape in the same situation without getting that nasty feeling of too much carbon monoxide in my blood

And then, when I started vaping, I joined the German vapers forum right away (in my home country), and I got the perfect beginners advice:

When you need the nicotine kick right now - like with your morning coffee - do like this:
puff on e-cig a few times - inhale the next drag deeply and directly into your lungs, all the way down (depending on the equipment, nowadays, I am talking eGO T :) ) - hold it for a while - exhale deeply and with pleasure - repeat 2 - 3 times = bingo! Nicotine kick right now :) - I still do that at times. :)

Yes, I was lucky.

And I see no reason to look down upon people who did not have the same kind of luck / time is right combination.
