Hey everyone, it's been a while since I checked in. Doing the same, still smoking intermittently, and still not caring enough to change it. School is starting back next week, sleep schedules still haven't changed at my house, and I'll have to get up an hour and a half earlier than I have all summer. The kids are going to be wrecks! Hope you're all doing well!

On the vaping front I am down to one working device, finally my itazte v3 gave up the ghost, not sure if it was too many drops or the computer just went ballistic, but it will turn itself off and on repeatedly and when you press the fire button nothing happens. So me and the Vamo are still hanging in there, but now I don't have 2 flavors to cycle throughout the day and I find myself burnt out quickly. I'll have to rectify this situation. . .

Welcome compile :). Not all juices can handle higher voltage and not all tanks can wick well enough to support higher voltage. More info please......
I agree, we need a bit more about your setup and the juice you are using.

Worry not my friend, you are in the right place. Just relax and "Embrace the Suck"!

Every time you respond to me you sure do allow me to look at all of this with a different perspective. I guess I've become quite the pessimist toward vaping. I decided to splurge last night a little, too... and ordered a Kayfun Lite. I did a couple hours worth of reading/watching reviews and I'm somewhat hopeful this will give me a better experience. I'm proud of myself for actually researching it first rather than buying it and having buyers remorse before it even arrives.

On the downside... my dna20 box mod is literally falling apart. 510 connecter needs to be replaced (half of the threads got eaten by the Pulse RBA) and the positive connector has a short. :(

You said you feel silly, but think about this. There are so many people who try vaping just a couple times, maybe a couple different setups and give up on it. A lot of the people who are consistently vaping had really good early experiences. That found something that at least kinda worked early on. You have had a hard time since the start, yet you stayed with it, gradually finding the right setup for you. There is something to be said about that. :)

My current setup is a zmax v3 using either an Igo-L or a Protank I/II with an Air Control Valve. The liquids are a 50/50 mix at 18 mg. I have no issues with PG, but some high VG liguids do bother me (probably the alcohol base.) These are basically the same 2 liquids I've been vaping for years, the only change really is location and climate. I went from humid to dry. BTW, I am smoking Pall Mall Reds, but can't vape any tobacco flavors.

Compile: When starting off vaping, it has been my experience that it is a good idea to find out how much nic you need first. If you can, I would suggest getting several different bottles of a flavor you like in different nic strengths so you can adjust the nic levels incrementally to find out what works for you. It's different for everyone, but when I first made the switch years ago I ended up using 24mg YMMV. The voltage level, is more about finding a sweet spot for flavor and vapor production IMHO. That should come secondary to getting the evil nic monkey off your back. So yeah, back off the voltage and play with the nic... and welcome btw. :)

I just started vaping a week ago. I can't seem to stop smoking as well. Sometimes my setup will satisfy my urge and sometimes its not enough. I a running a Vision Spinner II with Manger AeroTank Mini, with 16mg. I don't know if my dosage is high enough, but when I crank the voltage and open the air port and take a drag I'm left coughing for 5 mins and my throat being irritated. I'm not sure if its the juice mix or the nic strength.

I've tried quoting cold turkey and it turned me into the incredible hulk (very ...... off). I've tried Champix and it worked (for a week).

I don't mind continuing the sensation of "smoking", I just don't want the 3000 chemicals, the combustion or the smell of it anymore. My daughter means the world to me and I feel like .... when I sit next to her after a smoke. That's my reason for wanting to quit, so my daughter will have her daddy there the day she gets married (she's only 2 BTW).

My wife is thrilled I'm trying to quit. My sis in law is going to get her husband to vape.

Please help guys. I don't know if I should up to 18+mg or just drop down and crank the Spinner up. I really don't want to wake up feeling like I ate asphalt. I smoke about have a pack to a pack a day. :(
Hi there! Welcome! Just wondering what is you pg to vg ratio? Do you like the burn in the back of your throat? Or does it more irritate you?

I started with 18 mg and a 50/50 ratio, the pg was to high for me the nic level was spot on... Maybe try adjusting the ratio! I personally just got some vg liquid and cut my juices...

Take the leap. I have a small amount of the rayon and I have only tried it a couple of times with my r91. So far I have not found the right amount of rayon to use to get the magic vape. But I try every time I change a cotton wick.

I am a creature of habit, that is probably why getting the right amount of material for a wick is a challenge for me.

I have heard many more positive things about the Sally's rayon than I have heard negative or so so. Take the leap.

Pbusardo did a video on the Koh Gen Do cotton, Sally's rayon, hemp, and organic cotton. The KGD came in first, about even with the rayon, he said the KGD is his slight preference. The organic cotton came in dead last. He was surprised.

Just a quick off topic note... its been suggested to ask for a sample of rayon for wicking from the rayon thread... think I should take the leap?

Encountered not 1 but 2 vapers in the wild today :thumb:
One at a factory outside with the smokers - using a vamo. Weird they don't allow vaping inside - they used to. Guess the misinformation got to them.
Second at a break in. I usually don't do residential but I couldn't leave her stuck. There's really no other locksmiths in my area. The burglar actually drilled the lock. In 25+ years I've never seen that done in a robbery and I used to work with the constable, sheriff, and drug task force. Her son just started - using a vv3. She was concerned it was just as unhealthy but we filled her in on some facts ;) she's going to get her husband set up :)

Wow, I really appreciate the offer. I sent you my address in PM. That was really unexpected, and I really appreciate it.
Like I said, love this community.

Funny thing with me is, I actually get more thirsty from smoking. I noticed this recently. Though when I am outside working, I tend to smoke more. But I think that has more to do with the "easy route" than anything.
This was something I recently noticed, too. Going back and forth between vaping and smoking. The other time I tend to smoke more is when I am pacing outside my house at the end of the day. I do a lot of thinking and a lot of prayer just walking up and down the patio area. I tend to smoke when I do this, A LOT. I can actually burn through a pack in a couple hours doing this.
I need to focus on vaping during these times, but again with the habit aspect. lol

Anyways, I noticed doing this would trigger an intense thirst. Of course, some of it might be all of the walking outside. Who knows? But just seems smoking causes thirst in me more than vaping. I vape VG heavy juices, which I hear makes people even more thirsty. I guess every body is different.

Also, my condolences regarding your A/C
Just in case anyone in this thread doesn't realize, a broken A/C in Vegas is a HUGE deal. Even the native Paiute tribes wouldn't stay in this valley during summer. Those that tried to tough it out usually died. And they weren't acclimated to modern comforts.

Hey everyone, long time no drop in.

My A/C died a couple weeks ago on a Friday so that really sucked. Couldn't replace it until Monday, so that made for an uncomfortable weekend. Now I'm having A/C issues at the rental house... I really don't need another $4500 bill right now. :/

Tim, I really don't know how you do it. I'm in the Las Vegas area too, and I've given up on vaping until it gets cooler. It's too hot, and too dry. I just can't drink enough fluids to vape and not be dehydrated / have a permanent sore throat. Come fall, I'll redouble my efforts. BTW, I have some unflavored Wholecig WTA I'll be happy to send you if you want to try it. Just send me your address via PM.

Thankfully, this house doesn't really have bugs.... EXCEPT for the occasional spider and baby scorpion that wanders in to say hello. I have a catch and release policy but if anyone else spots a scorpion first it's stomp city. :(

I'm happy to report that I'm finally making some medical progress. I had an MRI last week and will be going over the results with a specialist next week. We know what the problem is, the question is what the Dr and or the insurance will do about it. Will they really treat it, or do I cut my losses (and the 5 or so medications that can't be good for me) and just get an MMC to mask the pain / symptoms like they're doing now without destroying my liver and g-d knows what else.) I'm rambling sorry...

Have a good night everyone I need sleep. :)

i fear my AC may be on its last legs. the heat here doesnt really bother me. i really only have the big ac unit to keep the house cool for my son as he doesnt tolerate heat very well, and he tends to overheat from his meds if there is no cool area for him. of course he becomes as cold as an icecicle during the night with the ac on, so its a loose/loose situation lol.

need to have my central heat looked at since we had a few cold mornings and my heat wont turn on (blankets and snuggling with child kept us comfy, but if the temps do drop id like to be able to turn on the heat atleast). seems we need to call a repair man every year to get this thing working. really need to move out but there seem to be no halfway decent houses anywhere near me in the school district we want (property managment companies from chicago are buying half decent houses to repair then resell at 2x cost, or renting out at chicago prices driving up rent here. just 2 years ago a 2 bedroom house was ~500/month. now its close to $1000/month. redicoulous.)

not sure if i posted the good news yet or not. got a call from the main Make a Wish offices, our dates are confirmed Nov 20 - 26th to be in florida. im asking about a dining plan as they have us staying on disney property. id like the dining plan as it means i can book character meals without having to pay the full cost of the meal upfront, but tehy are not sure if it can be done. they are looking into it. told me we could buy the plan when we get there. nope, disney does not let you add it after you arrive, it needs to be added when you book it. i may try calling myself to see if it can be done then passing the info along to MAW handler.. or geting a managers name/number to pass over to work out the details.

re: your florida trip. sweet. My old stomping grounds. I grew up in central Florida. It's nice. There is a rich community called Celebration. The community has a shopping area that is really nice, and they try to make everything look quintessential 1950's somewhat. Really long walking trail. Really nice. Thing is, you don't have to live in the community to go there and enjoy the shops and the trail. Really relaxing. Doubt you would have time to check it out, but I recommend it if you just like hanging out and window shopping

Ive been there before. I have been about 14 times growing up. Grandmother worked there and retired from Disney earlier this year. But we have 6 days to squeeze 3 disney tickets, 2 universal, and sea world into. Including traveling to/from on first and last days. Might skip sea world and use grandma for an extra day of disney. Might not use both universal tickets. I want to check out the new harry potter area at universal, but im trying to plan wjere to eat and figure out how I am supposed to prepay for character meals. Those are not cheap. . And I guess magic Kingdom does not allow kids to ride on floats anymore. Child would love to ride in a parade with characters. Gotta figure out what he will do then.

First off the KFL rocks!! Which one did you get?

Sorry to hear about your DNA... what rda did that and which DNA 20 did you have? (Mine is billet aluminium and nearly bullet proof)

Gtr-

That's actually vg-a (for alcohol), straight vg has no alcohol as a base.

Exactly Sparkle... you can get 170+ ml of vg at Walmart for around $4

Hi, Compile, and welcome!

Different things work for different people. Here's my strategy:

At any time I can choose to have a smoke, or to have a vape. No pressure on myself either way, although I try to encourage myself to vape.

I find that without the pressure to "quit" it makes things much easier. I still do smoke an occasional cigarette (been vaping for about 10 months now) but I smoke a LOT less than I used to, and smoking one cigarette does not cause me to immediately go back to being a full-time smoker.

You don't really need to keep cranking up the voltage; certainly you should pick a power level that provides you with a comfortable sensation, not a "cough your lungs out" harsh vape.

Many find vaping to be harsher than smoking at first. It's different, and takes a bit to get used to.

You could try higher-nic juices, or try to vape more frequently (or longer each time).

Good luck, and again, Welcome!
