Hey Compile
Welcome to the group - as a vaper, as an ecigforum member and as a contributor to this thread.
And good on you, because I struggled with vape-smoking for a year before finding this thread. :D

Anywho, I haven't quite caught up on what everyone recommended. Personally, I recommend people start at 24mg and work down if needed. You could pick up some 18 and 24 and try each to see what works for you. But at the end of the day, if vaping isn't quenching your nic thirst, then yes, up the nic (as long as within safe parameters.)

You can up your vaping wattage and frequency of hits. But it is easier at this stage of the game to up your nic level.

One of the most important tips I learned about vaping early on is that vaping is NOT smoking. If you hit your vaper like you hit a cigarette, you won't get the full benefits. You know how you suck the smoke/vape into your mouth, then inhale, usually. Vaping usually works better with a slower intake before inhaling. There are a couple reasons for this. One is rate of vaporization vs rate of burning tobacco (until you get into more higher wattage). But there is another reason.

I remember years ago taking addiction counseling/pharmacology courses and learning that nicotine absorbs most readily in through the membranes of the mouth. That is unless the tobacco is burnt with paper. There is something in the paper that, when burned with tobacco, reacts with the nicotine and actually makes it absorb more quickly through the lungs. When nicotine is allowed to enter lung tissue more readily, it results in a greater rush of nicotine. This is because once you overcome the absorption barrier, lung absorption is much more effective than membrane absorption. What is absorbed thru the lungs goes directly to the brain. This is why they say it is better not to inhale cigar smoke. It isn't because it's "too much smoke," as some would claim. Rather, because of the absence of the paper burning, the nicotine from the cigar enters more readily through the mouth than the lungs, although it still can absorb through the lungs, but slower.

Likewise a longer drag on an ecig (more time of vapor in mouth), followed by an inhale, maximizes the absorption of nicotine from the vapor.

Don't feel overwhelmed, but everything is different with ecigs, and there is a learning curve to just about everything. If you stay with one device system, you will eventually get over the learning curve and be set for life. You probably WON'T stay with one system though. And every new system/device comes with its own learning curve. You get to the point where you want to try new stuff just so you can figure it out. :)

Because you are still in the initial learning curve, it would be preferential, IMHO, to up the nic and get the basics worked out before trying to tweak all your gear. Find a setting and setup that gives you a nice consistent vape and leave it alone until you get past the beginner phase. Just taking care of the basics with what you have will take a little time to perfect. If you try to start mastering all the fine-tuning aspects of vaping right off the bat, you will have all that much more learning curve to get over in your beginner phase.

That is just my take on it. Anyone may feel free to disagree with me on this.

I just started vaping a week ago. I can't seem to stop smoking as well. Sometimes my setup will satisfy my urge and sometimes its not enough. I a running a Vision Spinner II with Manger AeroTank Mini, with 16mg. I don't know if my dosage is high enough, but when I crank the voltage and open the air port and take a drag I'm left coughing for 5 mins and my throat being irritated. I'm not sure if its the juice mix or the nic strength.

I've tried quoting cold turkey and it turned me into the incredible hulk (very ...... off). I've tried Champix and it worked (for a week).

I don't mind continuing the sensation of "smoking", I just don't want the 3000 chemicals, the combustion or the smell of it anymore. My daughter means the world to me and I feel like .... when I sit next to her after a smoke. That's my reason for wanting to quit, so my daughter will have her daddy there the day she gets married (she's only 2 BTW).

My wife is thrilled I'm trying to quit. My sis in law is going to get her husband to vape.

Please help guys. I don't know if I should up to 18+mg or just drop down and crank the Spinner up. I really don't want to wake up feeling like I ate asphalt. I smoke about have a pack to a pack a day. :(

Tim, I like your take on starting out. I think you hit on some good points. It is much easier to learn to vape and get a satisfying vape when you do not have a lot of moving targets. Makes it a lot easier to figure out what is working for you and what is not working, too.

I stuck with my Spinners and 510 attys for the first 6 months of vaping. Only changes were an upgrade to an MVP2 and Evods when I was out and about. I did not get my r91 until I was about 8 or 9 months in. But then I am not a tinkerer.

Using just the 510 attys and Evods, I was able to concentrate on my juice and nic levels. When something would go wrong, I had an easier time narrowing down the problem. Sometimes the problem was just that I was not drinking enough water. It makes a Huge difference to keep yourself very well hydrated.

Actually, thank you Shari. You kinda put certain things in terms that I was trying to convey but was having a hard time saying. All the things I wanted to say but just weren't coming out, you covered. Thank you.
Been a long day of work lol and mah brain is tired.

Thanks again.

Nah, I think you expressed yourself quite well. I am one that tends to overcomplicate things. If it is simple, I will make it difficult. One of my shortcomings. I used to be a very spontaneous person and one to try just about anything. As I get older, I find myself wanting to find the consistent and simple things. I confuse myself too easily these days. Too many choices and too many variables puts me in a tizzy.

Even just trying to switch from cotton wicks to rayon seems to be a challenge to me. I can now make a successful coil and a cotton wick for it in no time and very rarely have to redo them. I switch to rayon and can not seem to judge the amount properly even after watching several videos and doing about 5 of them. Eventually I will get it. When I get frustrated I just go back to my 510 attys for a while.

I sometimes envy the people that try all the new mods and rba and rda. Then I think about it and realize that I am really am pretty happy with my Provari and the Russian 91% and figure I do not need to keep searching. I am satisfied. I am not even on a juice hunt anymore. Boring, but it is working well for me.

Hey, has anyone bought a Russian 91% Version 2 that was made AFTER the spring loaded pin issue was resolved? I am wondering if it works as well as the Version 1 does. I am thinking about getting another one. Just need to know if Kebo got their act together since the new ones are really pricey.

Shari,

I'm sorry that the rayon isn't working for you yet, put it away in the cupboard. You've got to a setup that works for you with the cotton/Russian/Provari, why mess with it?

Dang, girl, is it just a couple months ago that I thought you were one of the last people on the planet that would be able to wind her own coils, and I was so elated when you made it happen?

Shari, you are an inspiration. Thanks. Embrace the suck that works for you!!!!!

Awww shucks (head down and kicking sand and blushing). Thank you.

I am pretty pleased with myself and my rebuilding skills. And more surprised than you can imagine. I still do not get the exact ohms on my coils every time, but I am good with the 1.6 to 2.0 ohm I usually end up with. I now know how to find my sweet spot for most of my juices with any coil in that range. The Artistic Wire Gizmo coil winder I got at Hobby Lobby was a life saver for me. And a good magnifying glass.

But, I will tell you a little secret. I think I am a vaping fiend. Really. I am going through at least 3 tanks a day in my r91. I am now starting a diy juice career just to keep from having to file bankruptcy. lol

Shari, I can't even hit an exact resistance over 1.2 ohms. Below that I can hit it every time. But as long as my resistance is between 1.2-2.4 ohms my vw devices can regulate to where I like it.

My protank isn't hitting the spot right now. Using my aqua most of the time now. Want to finally build my r91 but still afraid to. Also afraid ill break the frosted tank so thinking of using the metal one when I do.

Need ideas for special thing for child to do for make a wish. I thought a parade with characters he likes but was told disney doesn't let kids ride on the floats now. Don't want just a meet and greet that we could stand in line for normally. Might ask for a family massage as he loves having his back rubbed like I do lol. Any ideas from yall?

I have not been to Disney since my 30 yr old son was a wee one. Do they have some kind of program where the child can be dressed up like his favorite character and have his picture taken. Maybe interact with a few characters in a small scale environment?

Is he too little to swim with dolphins? My 82 year old mother in law did that in Puerto Rico and she said it was one of the most wonderful things she has ever done. The pictures were really amazing. Looked like a wonderful experience.

One of the big Aquariums I used to take my son to had a small pool where the children could touch baby sharks and octopus and hold starfish and a bunch of other neat creatures.

There are also Science Centers out there where all the exhibits are interactive. There are activities and stations for all age groups. Really neat and amazing stuff. The couple I have been to used to not be real expensive.

Build a bear? He can make his own Teddy Bear. Located in some big malls. Maybe try to get this one hooked up through Make a Wish.

I am out of ideas for now.

I have a sister who used to work for Disney and friends who still do. If you're interested I can see if there are any contacts that might help you out a bit.

Did you know that Cinderella's castle is available as a hotel suite?

I also read that they do weddings there too. At least they used to. Could you imagine pulling up in the coach in your wedding gown? How magical.

Otherwise we would be up s*** creek!

Last I knew it was not being used for anything other than media/ celebrity stays for press. And the suite cannot be booked. Make a wish has tried for many MANY kids to get them in therfe. Disney sayx they cannot. Think about how many wish kids are there at the same time. Then think how msny would want to stay in the castle. Too many.

I have some numbers at Disney I shouldn't have, I just don't want to have to use them. Last time I did I got a bus driver in severe trouble.. he left to go home early without making hiz last few stops. The number sent a limo to get me and gf from where we were to take us where we were going.

Thats kinda what we have tentatively set, a make over as a pirate then a little kid walk around then pick out sword/necklace from treasure chest.

He is too little to swim with dolphins, and his incision just recently has been allowed fully submerged into water. He hardly swims now rather than let the water take him wherever while floating lol.

We will have a ticket to sea world, they have things like that. But im not sure if he would be afraid of it or love it.

We have thought of doing one of these when he is a bit older to understand the exibits more than just play with it.

He has done build a bear a few times. Has many. Each surgery he has one. Last one he picked everything out himself before his surgery so je haf a companion in the surgery room. Including scrubs (we bought a second unstuffed one for this next part) and a matching scar, we asked the surgeon if he had time after child to give the bear the same look as child. He did, including drainage tubes. Not sure where the pictures went.

I can feel that too. I recently had a case of shinyitis, but with all the busyness lately, I don't really feel a desire, let alone the need, to branch out any more.
Maybe in a few months I might want to try something else. But for now, I just want to status quo for a while.

I guess I kind of go back and forth.

Shari, you are such a girl!!!!!!!

Look, I like Disney World, but it's probably the last place on earth I'd want to get married at! Throw solemnity right out the window and replace it with fantasy? Not my style. My wife would love the idea, though (I'm pretty sure).

Honeymoon, cool. Wedding? Seriously???

They have some nice locations, like a private island wedding pavilion. If I had the people/money id do it and have fireworks during the first kiss, and as we walk down the isle married. Then ride off in the carriage to take pictures in the rose Garden in front of the castle.

Im a bit of a romantic lol.

Funny thing happened to me (I don't find it funny). Girlfriend volunteered to watch a friends baby. Today was SUPPOSED to be her only 8 hour day this week. She has to work over. . Big surprise. I was outside playing ball with son and holding baby when son ran inside and locked me out using the deadbolt (the one key that is on girlfriends keyring and not mine) locking me and baby outside. Tried to get son to open the door but wouldn't. Called girlfriends work to have her run home (literally across the street) and unlock the door for me). Coworker answered and said she would tell her. Half an hour goes by when child finally opens the door. Girlfriend rushes home an hour after I called because she was JUST told as the coworker was leaving. She is filing a complaint with hr about that. If it was a medical issue, an hour to be told is outrageous!

Tldr, child locked me out of the house and girlfriend coworker didn't pass the message on until an hour later when she happened to see her when leaving

Yeah Claudia!! For one glorious year. I think out of everyone I have met during my vaping journey you are the person that has taken the bull by the horns and run with it the farthest. You are an amazing lady. You also surprise me the most, continuously, especially with your beautiful art. Knew you would be a mean coil builder!

In 12 hours it will be one year since I smoked my last cigarette. I want to give all of you a huge thank you for giving me the courage to do it and to stick it out through the difficult months following.

Without all of you I would never have been able to say NO I do not smoke.
