It seems like most ex-smokers are vulnerable even after not smoking/vaping for several years. Some say it never goes away completely. Would you consider not having smokes on hand? You can't smoke em if you don't got em. ;) Although many would consider that to be a stressful situation of its own. Think about it. You've really come a long way in your battle. :vapor:

Hi guys! Back from a weekend camping trip. Now, that was a challenge.... but I feel that I did pretty good. Camping is (in my mind) the time to sit and relax and smoke. It seems that I am down (98% of the time) to under one pack a day which is HUGE for me. I am not ready to give up my real ciggies just yet, (still makes me too nervous) but I gave myself lots of time to eliminate the 2-2/1/2 day habit when I joined the site. I am so proud that I am not a chain smoker right now! Lol

Every time I light a real one, I think of the money I am wasting. What I am working on right now is breaking the habit of chain smoking. It's still a bit hard some days because it is soooo ingrained in me to smoke one after the other. Today, I counted out 17. Of course, I am playing the game to see if I can outbeat that number and smoke less. I really love this site. It is such a help to sit and read everyone's' journey. Here is a reminder today for me or anyone else reading. I'll check in later. Have a great day everyone!

My ''formula'' for changing is my smoking vapor pens!!

My friends, I would love your help. I 'caved' today. I was so proud of the money I was saving for a trip next year (that was my goal) and then......I found out that I have to have a root canal ($1000.00) and my car broke down the other day and I was told by two very (5 star) mechanics today that in order to get it back on the road will be well over $3,000.00! I knew it was bad but not THAT bad. (I thought $1,000 would fix it up):glare:

I know I should probably go for a walk, do some exercise, wash my hair...whatever... but I really don't know how to get through this stress without my real cigarettes!!!!! I end up saying, ''screw it''! I'm at 21 tonight and so disappointed that I didn't stick to my 17. I am trying to quit cigarettes so I can have more of a money flow but this is crazy! I am going to have to put out 4,000.00 in the next month. And I do feel angry tonight. I want to scream. Can anyone relate and just give me a couple little pieces of encouragement?

Thank you forever.

Wise words from Fran, Donna. So true. Please don't beat yourself up. I don't know what the link to 'real' cigarettes is, in times of stress, but I am sure we have all felt it.
I remember getting home after a horrible shift at work and chain smoking 5 cigarettes. Really?! It didn't help much to tell the truth...it was just the old habit rearing its ugly head. I gave myself a good talking to that night.
At the end of the day look how far you have come in a month. Bloody good in my book!

Hopeful, we have all had bad days. That is not going to change - it is baked in the cake. Everyone is different and has a different path to follow, but here is something that helped me - I started vaping in August last year. By October, I realized that I was not one of those who would quit immediately. So rather than focusing on quitting cigarettes, I focused on developing a solid vaping habit. I vaped before and after every cig I smoked.

Possum is right. I learned repeatedly that smoking in stressful situations does not make things better. But I had to learn that lesson over and over before it stuck.

Hang in there! Honestly, it can be done. But it is a process and a lot of it is psychological (after a certain point).

We are here for you. All you have to do is keep showing up.

You can't be blamed for being upset and stressed. Your situation would stress any one of us. Just do the best you can and don't beat yourself up for not being perfect.

Thank you so much, my online friends!! I appreciated these comments so much this morning. So I am ready to fight back against life again this morning. I am 64 years old so I've been rich and I've been poor but I've always made it and I'll make it again! I love that quote, ''It's baked in the cake''! That is sooo true. Good and bad....it's all part of life.

Some of the worst things I ever feared have happened to me in my life and I made it. Yeah, I smoked my brains out during all these times so I guess in a sense, you guys are right? Cigarettes are your friend for a time. When my only sister died 21 years ago, I probably wouldn't have been able to make it through without those cigarettes. Crying and chain smoking is all I did for 5 years. Warriors.......That's what we humans are! :vapor: :toast:

Thanks again. Counted out 17 and 4 of those are those horrible ones that I still have 3 packs left from ages ago, so if I want to smoke, I will have to put up with those nasty ciggies.

Have a great day my friends! ((hugs))

I think I may be using stress as an excuse to smoke a few extra. I went over by 3. Very stressful day trying to find a new car which I wasn't intending to buy.

I'll try harder tomorrow. I panic when I am stressed and automatically reach for my real cigs. I vaped a lot also and my mouth is sore tonight but I know about vapors mouth now. My mouth was doing really good for the last couple of weeks.

I am checking in because I really do want to 'track' my journey to becoming a full-time vaporer. I hope you all don't mind. Goodnight and thank you for listening.

(hugs) to all of you.

We don't mind at all,Hopeful:) Stress is stress, you are not using it as an excuse!! Wondering if you are still using your little cigalikes? You might want to step up to something a bit bigger.
Thanks, FranC. Yes, I vary my vaping equipment during the day. I am vaping the nic salts also in which the nicotine is supposed to get into the bloodstream faster (and to your brain). So I mostly do the little fake cigarette in the morning and the bigger pen style starting mid-morning. I am going to be as positive as I can today so I do not stress about this car. So far, so good.

I'll check in later. I hope everyone has a great day! (hugs)

If you find yourself craving cigarettes due to stress - you may be craving the whole tobacco alkaloids (MAOI's) not found in ejuice. Maybe try adding some WTA juice to your ejuice or try Swedish snus. Be sure to use the real Swedish snus not American. It's fermented and has no nitrates and much lower levels of carcinogens.

Thank you, Lox! I wonder if I can get this kind of juice in Canada?? I would be very interested because I think I would make a much bigger effort to put the real ones down. And where does one get this 'Swedish snus'? thanks!

@Hopeful64 . . .

FYI: A thread here on ECF . . .

Mother's Milk WTA website:

BTW: Same caveat about shipping to Canada . . .

Don't know anything about these companies/products, however they are a Registered Suppliers here on ECF:

Also, you can do a general search on ECF for WTA . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Oh & BTW:

Just did a "Google" search for General Swedish Snus, and see it can be found at Pick n Pay Smokes in Canada:

You can also find a store near you and get monthly coupons by signing up as a customer on the General Swedish Snus website too:

Hope this information is helpful . . .

You absolutely can. I got mine from Umba Vape and it got to me here in Ontario in a little over a week. I got the 24mg unflavoured as I wanted to add it to some of my faves that needed a little oomph.
Yes, it's expensive, but it does "feel" different. Be warned, it tastes like ar$e. Even a little bit in a tank with tasty juice will alter the taste of the juice a little bit.

Still coasting here with my 7-10 per day and not feeling all that motivated the last few weeks. I need to get my head around it and JUST DO IT. I think it's partly because with a smoke, there's a finite time associated with it. Like me, it's a 4 minute break. Done and done. With a vape, there's not that end point, so there's no real feeling of Done and Done, satisfaction achieved.

As for the snus, that's also on my radar, and I'm sure we can get it either online or maybe a tobacconist or cigar shop. Just make sure it's the General Snus from Sweden.
