What's that drip tip, Mtek? I'm looking for one that has similar dimensions to the SM tip but without the diagonal swirls.

I seem to recall someone saying that the fasttech coloured glass tanks were actually painted on the outside and the paint / glaze would rub off.

This one is a wider bore than the Oem tip. I like it, but still totally not satisfied as I like the stock diameter too but not the look. I'm always shopping for various types to try.

Here this one is: Helmut / Modish Metal Works

PURPLE???!!!!?? I need to check that out! Wonder if they are glass?

ETA...just filled up the K4 for this first time and happy to report I didn't spill juice every where..shocking. But between tighty righty and to take a tank off, remember to turn right..if I messed up again, I should have to sell this thing due to ignorance.

Last I saw you had a stuck chimney on your base. How did you get it loose? Also, good news since it seems you did get it loose, but I am curious about how that played out. I searched but couldn't find your posts.

Today the normal AFC center post went back in and I dropped in a 29 gauge 7 wrap 1.5 mm coil (1.1 ohms). AFC was set reasonably tight. No thinning of the KGD - not an overly tight fit through the coil - not overly loose either. Using a slightly thicker 60vg juice - not for any reason other than it's what I wanted to vape, and 60vg should really wick fine in any tank. I started out at 15W, and after a few hits it was starting to run dry. Not full on dry hits, but underwicked hits causing slight throat burn.

I backed the wattage down in 1W increments until I was getting nice flavorful hits with no dryness or throat burn. The stopping point was 10W / 3.3V. In this configuration the vape was very nice. With a long slow draw the vapor production was reasonably good, flavor was very nice (perhaps the most I've enjoyed this particular juice), and most importantly I could chain vape it without issue. I have been slowly dialing more power in - turned on boost level 1 on the P3 and had no issue. I have since bumped it up to 11W / 3.5V with the same boost. The juice level in the tank has since dropped so this is probably helping too.

On one hand the KF4 is working quite nicely and it's been much more enjoyable to use. It will also be better for my battery life in this configuration. And really having tanks with different performance profiles is why I would want to have several tanks in the first place, right? So it's all mostly good, but I'm just a bit baffled by the lack of success I've had getting anything even moderately hot to run on this thing without it whimpering like an underfed puppy.

LOL this ^^^^^^ is a perfect description for a space cadet like me :thumb:

ETA-bcoz clockwise and counterclockwise is just too difficult

Oh dear...[emoji50]
I hope I didn't come across as condescending!
I just always prefer a simple explanation, and I think my mind assumes everyone else does too, by default!

I read that you made a successful refill!!! Good job!!! Did you use the top fill method? It's so easy!
I never thought there'd be a Kayfun with such an easy fill method!

Try a larger diameter coil. Honestly 1.5mm sounds way too small to me. 2.4mm - 3mm will allow you to use more wick which can supply more juice for a higher wattage vape. Personally I'm using a 28g 3mm parallel for for 0.6 ohms at the moment, before that I had a 26g 3mm 9 wrap for 1.2 ohms. The only issue I had with the latter was a too slow ramp up time due to the larger wire gauge. 3mm coils seem to be working for me better than 2.4mm (which I use on previous KF's), because I find they give a larger surface area to take advantage of the larger diameter KF4 air flow.

Whilst I don't have a Provari, and use mechs; if I did have a vw mod, I'd probably try 28g 3mm 8 wraps for good surface area and fast ramp up, set at some 15-20W.

In saying that many people are having a good vape on their KF4 with a 2.4 or 2.5mm coil, and some have found this better than the 2mm they may have used on previous KF's. But certainly have a play with some different coils and I'm sure you will find something to your taste that will allow a higher wattage!

Not condensing at all!!! Actually, super simple to remember so thx!!! :toast: And I specifically bought it bcoz of the top fill. IMO, top fills are the best.

I put it in the freezer around three times (approx 10-15 mins each time) and kept trying to unscrew the chimney and it wouldn't budge. I finally just left in the fourth time in the freezer over night then took a wide flat rubber band, twisted it around the SvoeMesto logo/ring and took pliers around the rubber band, took a 16 g Luer Lock needle in one of the air holes and grab as tight as I could my left hand on the base holding the Luer and quickly twisted (like a jerking motion) the pliers.

Second this. My go-to bit is 3/32" or about 2.4mm.

Same here, using 3/32 (2.4mm). Fantastic vape and see no need for further experimentation unless I try a vertical.

I use a7/64 drill bit. Converts to 2.77 mm.

HD

Building on my KFL decks, my go-to drill bit was the 3/32" aka 2.4mm...
However, for my KF4, I had to move up to a 7/64" bit, aka 2.8mm...and damn what a difference that made!!!!
It actually made enough of a difference, that I tried the same size in one of my KFL's, and it was a success! So I use 7/64" aka 2.8mm coils in all my Kayfun babies, and the vape over here is amazingly satisfying!
I hate to say it, but once I tried the 7/64" aka 2.8mm coil in my KFL, I almost felt like I didn't need the KF4, as my KFL was now vaping on the same level!

EDIT: Sorry HD! I wasn't trying to correct you! I just round up the math...I think 7/64" is 2.779mm, which my brain just converts to 2.8mm! Same as 3/32" being 2.383mm, which just goes to 2.4mm for me. I guess being off by 0.021mm or 0.017mm is close enough for government work!

Be sure to keep those big coils close to the deck: there's not much room in the Evaporation Chamber. I had a 3.2mm coil too high and it hit the top of the chamber! Well, the coil didn't actually hit, but the wick did. It pushed the wick down causing hot spots on both ends of the coil.

Yeah my coils ride fairly close to the deck, for my sweet spot...
Luckily the jump between 2.4mm and 2.8mm isn't much at all...it takes about 1-2 wraps less for the same resistance, and mostly makes a difference in wicking performance...at least for me.

I'm dyslexic as hell, so it took me some time to get the juice control orientation, even with the Busardo video (SV should pay Phil for making a training video on their product).

So once I stopped dumping juice through my airholes, it took me several builds to figure out that small diameter microcoils won't work in this device. Finally went to 2.8mm ID with .28g kanthal with 7 wraps - comes out to 1.5ohm juiced and it finally works as advertised.

Like my Orchid V4, there is a learning curve on what builds work, and this rebuildable is definitely a challenge to get used to initially. Still working on flavor, its a little more muted that my Kayfun 3.1's and the Kanger Mini with the OCC 1+ ohm heads still beat the flavorpants off the Kayfun V4, but, I also find the Kanger Mini can sometimes be too "juicy" if that makes sense - its almost like its spitting unatomized juice up the chimney somehow.

Got a reliable build formula, now working on flavor improvement.
