Well with TC you re not suppose to burn cotton? Have you tried lowering the J ?

Anyway I did a hardened Ni200 build everything set up right, did a dry run and the correct message 'dry wick' come up.. So I wick and fill up the tank, vape til empty, expecting the 'dry wick' message to show again.. But to my surprise it does not show and when I fire it actually goes on to glow red and burn the wick..
So my initial thoughts is that it may not work well with hardened Ni200.. Now on regular soft Ni200, will try to update when empty.

Chia, you've had so many problems with that I'm wondering if you've received a defective device. If your setup is correct you will get "DRY Coil" when your wick starts to run dry. Also seen several other reviews talk about running the tempered ni200 without issue so unless your wire vendor is selling you something else I don't think that's a problem. I'd suggest you go to your vendor and discuss in detail what problems you've had and see what they suggest. Or go to a local B&M and see what they say about it.

chia,

Not to insult you but did you do the double button press to calibrate the new coil?

This is one of the most important steps that we have seen too many folks miss or do it on a warm tank and mod. The other one is wire and atty connections not being up to par.

I missed it the first coil and I had even made a note to myself not to forget it... but nobody reminded me to read the note.

are you guys running your batteries down until you get the low battery warning? i did mine unintentionally today. threw it on the charger once i got home and it read 3.4v. i thought running cells down this low was advised against?

I did on this last one. I usually just swap out at random times roughly once a day but I wanted to see how many joules I was getting out of it. As for the discharge limits I'm no expert but I just looked up for the ones I have Samsung 25r myvaporstore.com says Don't discharge below: 2.5v

I am in the same boat with you as my 25R bought in Jan '15 is getting 17.5K to 18K. I am starting to track it now as I also have 2 more 25Rs bought in Mar. '15 and Apr. '15. I'll update you later.

I've only used 25r's in my SX. Lowest I have seen is 22k++. Usually 24-25k+.

Usually 24kJ, powerful+. Occasionally 21kJ powerful.

Now I have another stupid question. Is anyone in the US selling tempered wire yet? I just set up my tank Kanger STM and I had a heck of a time with standard 28awg so I went to the only tempered wire I had 29awg and got it the first time. 1 less wrap and came out to .12 on the button. So I am pretty much ready for the vape mail tomorrow.
Just order it from Stealth Vape. On the 16th I ordered 28, 29, 30, and ribbon tempered nickel...it showed up today. Pretty quick shipping, especially with a weekend wedged between, lol

Hi all.. Ya did the up/down bottom reset. Try on ohm meter and then mod to be sure they match too.. I did get the 'dry coil' b4 I wick, to be sure the coil is not shorting and no hot legs.. Then I wick up let it sit a while while I work on other stuffs. Vapes ok til dry tank. So I wanna go on and see if the 'Dry coil' come on again with a dry tank, but like I said it went on to burn the cotton.. Hence my confusion, initially it works ok.. Then this.. I did not drop or hard knock the device so I m also a little bit confuse.. Like I said I need to try out some more.

I made some mistake about operating the device but thanx to some guys here, I now take extra care when setting it up. But still lots to learn.

Unfortunately where I live vaping is a underground activity.. No BM I can go to for advice, only on forum and YouTube I learn thru my own trial and error. Hence I am very grateful when fellow forum members points out my mistake nicely no matter how stupid they seems ;)

Thanx all ;)

Definitely a learning curve with the SX, once you have it down pat, its by far the best mod I've had the pleasure to own.

I have lots to learn as well, and when the next version is out, I'll be on it like stink on skunk too......:)

Additionally, many thanks to all the posters here....!

I'm gonna run my 25rs today and see what I get. I'll be running them at .102ohm 30J 2.7V 480F. With this exact build my VTC4 got 22.5k yesterday.

For the samsung guys what kind of coils are you running? I have been running 0.12 Ω to 0.15 Ω - 3mm ID coil - 20 to 24J - 420º Standard. I think we need to take everything into consideration when comparing total Js used.

this mod would be absolutely perfect if the shroud had no gaps to the bezel. i have mentioned this many times elsewhere. i really don't know why they are like that. perhaps there is more to it than i know. it would seem simple to have no gaps but maybe it is quite difficult in fact..

I don't want to start anything, but mine doesn't show any gaps between the black portion and the bezel, if that's what you're referring to... mine looks perfect.

Do you have a photo you can post to show the gaps?

Really thinking my 25r are re-wraps. Just bought them like 3 weeks ago from 101vape. After this one runs down I think I'll see how my year old VTC5's do in comparison. Any definitive way to verify their true 25R's?

It is a very nice mod.. And the vape I get is much smoother than the dna40 too, which I like. I m just not so keen on the weight and short battery life.. ;( other than that it's as good a mod as it gets. Just need to get my builds right! Lol
