Here's what I think. Personally, I have tried a lot of tanks. The liquinators are very good, I have several. The Lil Mama tank is also very good, I have several. I have heard good things about the J tanks, although I don't own one. I also use the DCTank cut down to fit a Boge carto because I don't like DC cartos in a tank for various reasons. I have also made my own tanks from 20ml syringes, but you need to fill them with a syringe.

I have never actually measured how much liquid any of them hold. I just know that it's plenty for me.

That being said, I don't like the polycarbonate tubing on any of the tanks. It's prone to hazing and/or cracking from certain types of juice.

My solution to this is the get polypropylene tubing here McMaster-Carr, and cut my own tubes to replace the ones that come with the tank. 5/8" id x 3/4" od will fit all of the tanks, but the DCTanks. Their tube sizing is proprietary. You can get just the end caps for the lil mama tanks separately, if you want to make your own tanks.

ALL of the tanks work the same way. As long as they seal and the O rings are good, they work, period. Some are prettier than others, that's all.

I use the jig and carto punch from VaporAge to punch my own cartos, perfect every time. I use Boge cartos exclusivley. I use 1 hole one each side. I prime the carto by putting about 12 drops or so in one of the rubber ends from the carto, and push the battery end into the cap. until the juice is absorbed into the filler. Then pop on a drip tip, put it in your tank, and fill 'er up. Blow it out to be sure no juice got into the center tube of the carto. Take a few dry hits without powering your pv, until you get the taste of the juice, and you are good to go. Vape away...

Thanks my4, I should probably not be asking this here, but I just realized something about this tank I got from Madvapes... I noticed I didn't feel any warmth or much TH, and thought well I'm getting vapor but this is not satisfying like a regular caromizer. So I drained my liquid, cleaned everything up, then...hmm let me look at this 3 ohm replacement carto I got... Wow, it's long for one thing... Let's drop some thinner, PG stuff in this and try it without the tank.. hold my finger over the hole...

This carto seems to be my problem as far as this tank goes, along with the slim profile. Maybe those wick (CE2?) tanks would be better.... where should I take this issue so I can stop stomping on the Liquinator thread? Here I bought a Provari, and now find I'm stupid on cartos & such.... This can be complicated.

Hi, nice to see you, Ricks! Hate your clown...eeeww...LOL

Actually, not completely sure. This is how I DIY. My base mix is premixed by me 50pg/50vg at 12mg. I have a big bottle of it all made up, so I can whip up a new flavor easily. I'm not fussy about my exact nic mg, because I am happy with anything from 6mg-10mg. I already know it'll be within my target range for vaping when I add my flavorings, which are pg, and I usually use 20% flavoring. So my juices lean toward heavier on the pg side, but not too much.

I can see that with 100% pg, you'd probably only use one hole in your carto.

Still loving my tanks!

I have absolutely no experince with ce2's, can't help you there. My DCTanks are the not the slim ones. They are the regular sized ones, and, then, of course, I cut them down for my beloved Boge cartos. I vape a sr Boge carto at just over 5V, and there's plenty of heat, very satisfying.

I guess this is the place to ask. If not, maybe someone can point me to the right place.

A month or so ago, I bought a liquinator tank from Vaporesence. I'm in Dallas, and they are right up the road from me. I got the 5 ml aluminum tank, with 3 extra XL Dual Coil Punched Cartomizers.

I was very, very happy with this. A cartomizer would work for 7 to 10 days, my Boba's Bounty vaped well, everything was good.

Then I stopped in to get more cartomizers, and they were out. They said they would have more soon. For a few days, I called, and they were always still out, always saying "tomorrow". Then last week, they told me "We aren't going to be carrying those cartomizers anymore".

Well, that sucks. They sold me a tank that I like, but I can't use it without cartomizers. They did try to make it right, by giving me a plastic tank, a smaller one, that uses different cartomizers. And they gave me 3 cartomizers to go with it.

I give them big props here. They didn't have to give me that tank or those cartomizers. Doing that is very good customer service.

However, despite their trying, I'm still not happy. I've been using the new tank, and the new cartomizers, but they don't last long before they clog up. A day, maybe two, and I have to get rid of them and put a new one in.

That's a hassle, for one thing. And changing out a cartomizer every 1 or 2 days will be a lot more expensive than doing it every 7 to 10 days.

But they aren't going to carry the XL Dual Coil Punched Cartomizers anymore. I know those are Boge's, and they said they were "standard resistance", but that's it. I'm pretty sure the new ones are regular Boge cartomizers, and that the old ones were a bigger version of a Boge, and that both are stainless steel.

So, my question is "Where can I buy them." I'd prefer them punched, just like I had before, but if necessary, I'll figure out how to punch them myself.

Can anyone help me out? Where to buy, and how to punch them the way Vaporesence did?

Followup to my post above : If I can get cartomizer from Madvapes that will work (after I punch them) that would be ideal. But I've looked around at Madvapes, and I'm not at all sure that they have what I need.

The longer, XL version I need is a little bit wider (larger diamater) than a standard Boge cartomizer. Plus a bit longer, of course. I think the fact that it's wider is why it doesn't clog as fast.

Baldr,

I have read both your recent posts, understand what your problem is and might have a good solution. The only thing that I am unsure is what version of the Liquinator did they give you for a replacement. Did they replace the entire Liquinator or just the clear polycarbonate tubing? If you kept your aluminum caps and just changed the tube, then you can still use any standard diameter Boge, Smoktech or Kanger 510 carto. Since the only other ones they make are the an 808/901, I am going to assume that you still have one of the 510 versions which should take the same carto diameter as your first one.

I have been using a SS 5ml Liquinator since they first came out in the summer of 2011, since then I have run into many similar frustrations as well. Being a 10ml plus per day strictly Boba's user for years and trying out every single 510 carto known to man, I have found that the only one that doesn't burn is the Kanger horizontal bottom coils.

Those XL Dual Coil cartoz you mentioned are not Boges, Boge doesn't even make a dual coil carto, Smoktech does. Neither the Boges or Smoktechs last very long with Boba's because the residue from it's tobacco base clogs the inner cotton coil wrapper and eventually burns. When that happens, (usually after 3ml) you start to see that black ooze coming from your threads then that bad nasty burnt taste we all despise starts to rear it's ugly head.

One solution that I may have for you is to try the XL 510 Kanger stainless steel cartoz, the cheapest place that sells that I have found so far is Myvaporstore.com | The Electronic Cigarette Super Store. The standard lengths are $6.95 per 5pack and the XL(50mm tip to area above threads, tube part only) ones are $7.45. Now the XL size is longer in length than the (45mm)XL Smoktech Dual coil cartoz by about 5mm making them perfect for the 5ml tank that you had before you traded it in for the 3ml. Reason being, you at least have something to hold on to while screwing down the carto.

I liked the Kangers so much after trying out a few of them that I went ahead and purchased 250 of them from MyVaporStore. I have no affiliation with them as I am an Admin on Nu-Vapor where they are not even one of our registered suppliers. They are one here though, MyVaporStore so I suppose I am not breaking any of ecf's many rules which another reason why I rarely post here because I always feel like I'm walking on glass.

ps, sorry I didn't have time to explain how to punch a carto but I am pretty sure you can find many videos and posts on how to do something as easy as that.

Here is a comparison pic(left to right) of a XL 510 Kanger Horizontal Bottom Coil, Smoktech XL Dual Coil Carto and a standard Boge. Kanger XL is in my Liquinator as well.

The only thing that I am unsure is what version of the Liquinator did they give you for a replacement. Did they replace the entire Liquinator or just the clear polycarbonate tubing?

They gave me an entire new tank, 3ml size, black, made of delrin or plastic or something. Endcaps, o-rings, tube, and several cartomizers to go with it. They even through in a drip tip.

I kept the 5ml tank that I had before, so I have both. I'd prefer to be using my old 5ml tank. When I was able to get the cartomizers for it, I'd been very happy with it.

I have been using a SS 5ml Liquinator since they first came out in the summer of 2011, since then I have run into many similar frustrations as well. Thanks. It sounds like you understand the problem, and the solution. The fact that's you're using Boba's helps a lot, since it sounds like you've used a setup that's essentially the same. Same tank, same juice, and if that cartomizer worked well for you, I'll certainly be giving it a try. Thanks.

I'm somewhat new, but I need a tank desperately. I spend WAY too much time every day filling and refilling cartos. I'd like a 3 or 5ml tank unless the 5 will be too big on my epower/ego-t. Will I need an adaptor for either of them? the ego is actually a Totally Wicked Tornado if that matters. I'm just looking for advice on which Liquinator setup I should check out.

I do like thicker juices. Are there any pre-punched cartos out there with bigger/more holes than the tiny Smoktech pre-punched? I guess I could always slot my resurrectors anyway. Probably the cheapest solution.

As far as I know, the Smoktech prepunched cartos that come direct from Smoktech are the tiniest holes, but I've always nailed a hole in my own. And you won't need an adapter on any 510 threaded device, including the ego and epower.

"Too big" for the device is really up to your taste, but let's you decide to get a 3 mL liquinator, you can always order an extra tube of the 5 mL size and swap them.

But in my opinion, tanks are the way to go, even if you are new. Carto tanks may be easier to use than regular cartomizers. When I used cartomizers without a tank, often I put too much juice and dealt with frequent, small leaks. Now that doesn't happen. Not to mention, like you mentioned, there's no topping off. Just one big fill that is very easy to do.

Hi all!

I've spent an hour on this thread and would just like some verification before I make a trip to Home Depot...

The correct outer Oring replacement size is Danco 41 ?
The correct inner Oring replacement size is 9mm x 1.5 ?

I'd rather not have to order from the site if I don't have to - thanks!

I only use dual coil, but even then, every carto has a little different lifespan I've noticed.

Lifespan depends on the carto's air channel, your juice, and how much liquid you vape in a day. For me, a dual coil will last about a week with around 3-4 mL per day before the flavor goes, it spits juice, or the draw becomes really tight.

My point is that clogging is the nature of a carto unfortunately... It is going to happen. I've heard of cleaning methods (paper clip down the middle for starters) that some say helps with that. My cartos never get cleaned, just tossed. Maybe someone else has a fix, but I say it's just the circle of life :)

I almost always use a Boge 3.0 carto in my tanks. The lifespan varies a great deal depending on the juice I'm using. With one of my favorite juices (RKT from KBV) I generally only get a couple of days out of a carto. With another (BWB's root beer) I can easily get a week. Others are somewhere in between. I also never bother cleaning my cartos. I tried it once when I first started using them, but it was more trouble than it was worth, especially since it didn't really work well. Cartos are cheap though so I just keep plenty of them on hand.

Just in case Vaporescence reads this thread, I want to let them know they lost a tank sale today. I was going to buy their Tank-o-matic 510 version but could not add anything on their site to the cart. I click the add to cart button, but nothing happened. I tried adding other items to the cart as well (in case it was out of stock or something) but still, nothing.

I made sure my browser wasn't blocking the attempts (like No-Script or ABP) but nothing was being blocked on my end.

So because I was unable to purchase anything, I instead went to another vendor and got myself a ElectronicStix J-Tank which was similarly priced.

The Vaporescence site works for me with IE (ugh) but doesn't seem to like Chrome or Firefox too much.

Note that this largely seems to be an issue with the cart display section while you're on another page - if you go to the full show the whole cart page, you might well find that everything you've clicked on is actually in your cart (so, you know, all 10 Liquinators you want :p).

It is indeed annoying, and I hope they fix it, but it hasn't stopped me from ordering anyway. I don't equate less than rigorous website scripting with ecig tank manufacturing quality. ;)
