That happened to me as well on my first carto that was 5 days in. One second, it had the perfect draw. Then on the next drag, nothing. It had no draw at all. I took it off and saw the air hole was completely blocked, like the whole insides collapsed. I also tried the paper clip with some success, but not enough to make it usable.

The burning does concern me. I have not torn the original carto apart to look, but I wouldn't be too terribly surprised to find mine burnt as well. That leads me to some questions that might have been answered here, and I have read all 190 pages of this thread. But I'm suffering from information overload. Here goes:

The liquid never wicks to the top of the carto, and it always looks completely white and dry. The consensus seems to be that is normal and a non-issue. But I really think it's contributing to my biggest (and, so far, only) complaint: severe reduction in taste. I'm not really tasting the filler, and I'm not getting a burnt taste. But I'm not really tasting my liquid either. I switched to a more flavorful liquid, and that helped a bit. But the taste is still drastically muted. So I'm not enjoying the vaping experience as much as I should.

If I could solve that problem, this thing would be my ultimate accessory. I love the way it's built and how easy it is to use. I just need to solve this wicking issue, which I think might be contributing the the filler burning. And that's because I find I have to sit on the button longer to heat up the liquid enough from the bottom of the carto in order to get a decent TH and modicum of flavor.

I had wondered if this would be a problem, and if a "horizontal, bottom coil" carto might work best. For most cartos, the coil (or coils) are oriented vertically going up the center of the carto positioned about midway. Some cartos, however, use a different design - a horizontal coil at the bottom (think atty with filler on top):

• 808: Bloog max fusion, Volt, and NHaler "MF style" cartos are bottom coil
• 510: SLB Gold cartos are bottom coils

I have read that the SLBs have problems because the filler is very spongy and soaks up juice so much that the filler swells and blocks the airway. I don't know because I never tried them.

I ordered a stealth 510-808 adapter and MF style punched carto from NHaler but havent tried it yet. The stealth adapter looks awesome and adds only a millimeter or 2 of length (if that)

Vapor-Age also sells a punched SLB carto.

Theoretically (in my mind) these should be difficult if not impossible to burn!

This is a great battery comparison here 18650 battery test 2011. Its alot of detail but if you stare at it long enough you can start to get it!

As I understand the "C" rating represents the maximum safe amps you can draw from the battery without straining it (which can be dangerous I guess, but it definitely reduces the battery life).

For Lithium-Cobalt type batteries (which protected batteries are) C = 2 x mah (milli-amp hours). So for a 2900, the maximum draw is 2 x 2900 or 5800 milli amps or 5.8 amps.

According to Provari, the max amps during operation of the provari is 4.4 amps. This includes amps going to the atty (max 2.5) PLUS amps required to boost the battery from, say, 3.8 volts to 6.0 volts. The 2900 can easily handle that. A 2200 protected battery could also just make it.

That's why the use of the high drain is required on most batteries for ecigs, but when you get up to the 18650s the highdrains become less necessary.

If you look at the tests at the links above, the AWIMRs can handle 20 amps! This is because the are Lithium Manganese and the C ratings are much higher for this chemistry. This is at least 4x more than you will ever need, and these batteries don't last as long as the LiCo batteries (LiMn I guess dont have the storage capacity of LiCos).

Keep in mind, though, that some battery brands overstate their mah ratings AND apparently some cheap batteries don't adhere to the C = 2 x mah rule because, well because they are cheap. They have high internal resistance. Thats why testing is important.

The AWs and Redilasts are the best, the other brands can vary depending on the model, (some trustfires are good).

That is good news. I have seen NO difference functionally in the Provari with the IMRs and the 2900 accept time... I guess in other non-regulated mods, IMRs are choice, but for the Provari, it has really no functional difference except perhaps a little safer to run? The 2900 has a PCB and does the Provari correct? So safty issues are a minimum at best?

I took my first [Boge] carto apart and dissected it. The material that wraps around the coil was burnt in places, but I don't think the burning was worse than with any other cartomizer I have ever opened up.

Those who have had the cartomizers suddenly stop working: did you do anything different right before the inside 'collapsed'? I'm asking because I did. It was working fine with a completely open air hole. Then I dropped a few drops on top of the dry filler to try and improve the flavor. It was a few hits after that the disaster struck. At first I thought it a coincidence, but I really don't much believe in those. So I'm now wondering if those few drops from the top caused the filler to collapse into the air hole. Sort of like it upset a delicate balance in there with the filler at the bottom being saturated from liquid in the tank... just a thought.

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm running Boge LRs @ 3.7v. I'm using the ones that came pre-cut with the Liquinator. I have not attempted to cut my own just yet.

If you are asking about replacing the old carto with a new one while your Liquinator is filled with juice, I simply place the bottom of the new carto (threaded side) into the top of the old carto which is still in the liquinator (DT removed) and push it through. It's really simple and minimal juice spillage, a couple of drops at the most that need to be wiped off from the bottom...

Got my extra tanks in today, ordered late Wednesday night, 1 3ml SS, 1 5ml SS, arrived today. They definitely have fixed the spinning/sliding action. Tanks are fairly tight now, shouldn't have to worry about them dumping the contents. They have an awesome tank.

I also ordered 4 extra cartomizers for the 5ml, NONE in the package.

I also ordered 8 sets of o-rings, got 4 sets and 4 small o-rings.

I guess whomever is filling orders can't read and doesn't know how to do the math. Another call coming their way on Monday. Got my order fast (paid for Priority) but didn't get my complete order.

Maybe one day they will get their act together.

Ok , Got the Neiko 40 pc Rotary Tool yesterday . I needed it for the tinkering/ modding that I do on the side, but also wanted it to cut the slots in my cartos . Cutting was pretty easy & I cut them perfect first time around , sanded the slots down to avoid any jagged edges . I placed an order for the "Ressurectors" stainless of course & will do a video review when I get them. This Liquinator tank has really changed my views about cartomizers . I was strictly dripping , tried the CE2 tanks & they really sucked, so I went back to dripping.

You are less likely to burn a carto in a tank than using it as just a carto. However it's not impossible as I did burn one.

I use 50/50 juice.
Make sure you have adequate slots cut in the carto.
The one I burned out was cut with ONE slot.
Chain vaping may not saturate the filler fast enough before it starts burning.
My other cartos were cut with THREE slots and I vape the HELL out of them and they are always wet.
Once I saturate the filler by dripping on to the filler material, I NEVER have to re wet the filler.
Not even after refilling the tank.

Ditto, once you saturate the filler by dripping on to the filler material you never need to drip on the filler again. Just have to be sure you give it enough time to wick if you're a chain vaporer, or have 2 PV's going at one time. I also think 2, even three slots would work really good for a chain vaporer.

Dang I wish I could afford a Provari . I keep hearing how great the tank is on a VV mod . I really don"t care what kind of VV it is , I just would like it to be digital & easy to change voltages . I guess the only PV that does that is a Provari . I just can't afford that kind of money, they don't even have any coupon codes for the Provari

I absolutely love the SS tanks and I'll probably order from them again, but this time I WILL CALL my order in. Then I will ask that they have someone that can read and count package my order before sending it out!

James will be getting a call Monday and a discussion about sending out complete orders. I also will expect the missing items to be sent to me by Priority Mail, that's what I paid for originally. I expect nothing less.

I think eventually they will "get it together", at least I hope so, for everyone's sake.

Well Chief, took your advice and sold one of my backup Delrin Liquinators and ordered a SS version. Once I saw the updates and the message on their site that they changed the O-ring, I .../u/me it's fixed and like normal (some spin but no slipping right off) vs. what was being reported.

Hope I don't regret it.

Did I really suggest to you to get rid of your Delrin one?? Those are the tighter fitting ones... At least in my stash... However, the SS one i have isn't so bad either...
