kool, which should i get from zivipf? im seeing the 30 has a higher tcr than the 48. im a 26 awg type of dude. im gonna get a spool of each, 26 awg nife30 and nife48. how long is shipping from there to the US?
I had the Nife70/30 in some atomizers before the Nife52/48 was available. It worked fine and has double the Ohm/m compared to Ni200. But I would not use it in small atomizers with some static resistance. So for me NiFe52/48 is No1 - even a awg 26 (0.4mm) has 2.9 Ohm/m.

So I currently have one Zivipf NiFe48 build up and running - 25g @ 0.21 ohms in a prometey 3 running on dicodes. Love it actually. Microcoil, pulsed and squeezed etc with no problems. Now Im not sure what to do. I have a fondness for Ti and all others atties are running Ti builds ranging from 24, 26 and 28g along with a twisted 30g. All working well. I guess I will gradually phase Ti out over time but we will see!

I received my Unkamen NiFe52 today and its impossible to work with. I did send him a message asking to return it. I also stated that he should take Kanthal out of the title due to he fact that its a brand name that he is not selling so as to stop further confusion for purchasers. His spools are sweet though!!!

It's not bad to work with after it's annealed, just saying. Impossible off the spool though is an understatement..LOL

Everyone has their own way of doing things, here's mine. I'm still vaping using wattage, when I start to get TP message I know it's time to service the coil. This is after a careful dry burn on the Ti coil and a new rayon wick. This is a TGS2 22mm Hotcig clone, juice is 75%PG, 32 watt preheat.
Also this is using my Hotcig DX200, as you can see I haven't used it very much.

Alright, seems I have a correction to make. Although I could swear I saw it work, I can't get the notfethal52 wire to work at the TCR for SS304 (1016). Between swapping tanks, apparently I mistakenly set it to the SS430 profile, I guess from habit, and that's what I've been running it at in the aromamizer (138... which actually was running fine although it did seem like the reported temps were a bit low). So, I ran a water test and it was boiling around 240-250f range. I was able to take the TCR value up slowly and at 147, it's boiling at ~214f... and that's good because as soon as I hit 148, it kicked out of TC on the test. 1475 and it would still kick out of TC. But at 147, it seems to be holding. As to working the coil on this test, I used the coil master to make 8 wraps on a 2.5mm rod with no annealing. It sprung to a perfect 3mm. I took that contact coil and torched the hell out of it. This made it very easy to work with and using a 3mm rod, I removed two wraps and was able to easily space the coils.

Notfethal52 / 26ga / 3mm / 6 wrap / 0.401

@cigatron & @JeremyR - ran a water test on SS430:
This is with the a TCR of 138

And this is with the SS430 csv curve from balazsk

Just verified that it is the SS304 from SE that I'm using on the Opus which works using the 24 ga notfethal52 in a STplus... geez, this wire is just all over the place. That same curve doesn't want to work with dual 26 ga in the aromamizer. It constantly jumps out of TC. As much as I hate to, I think I'm going to throw in the towel. :(:mad:

@Landman , thanks for the info bro. So it looks like the 430ss from unkamen is very close to spec at 138 tcr. Good to know seeing we are using wire from the same spool. Looks like I'll give up trying to use it on my Evics in tc mode. It does work fine in power mode though.

Notfethal52 does seem an appropriate name for unkamen nifethal52 with tcr close to 147 instead of the spec'd 404.

Also still wondering about The Bloke. Hope he is ok.

I have thermocouples and the computer interface but I sort of feel bad stealing his thunder, anticipating he will be back soon.

I was in pretty regular contact with him but I havent heard from him either by PM or email for a good while now. I too hope all is ok!

A brownish green like
green?!?!?!? Thats nickel oxide mate!

I'll check the Zivipf Rightfethal52 later but I'm pretty sure it just looked like torched kantal but my eyes are dim these days...

Obviously its clear tge Notfethal52 isnt, but that would suggest a high nickel content. How can that be though?!?!..Where is the @druckle man when you need him?!?!

OK I took another look, well actually I torched a length real good the coiled it and torched it some more. Either really dark green or almost black (charcoal)

That doesnt sound good. I will hyper-torch some this evening and see what happens...green bad :(

check this out. Bunsenite, the mineralogical form of Ni(II)O....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel(II)_oxide#/media/File:Bunsenite-bem-22a.jpg

edit: of course Ni salts are coloured, usually green also, but this is just heated in air so it is likley to be the oxide I think (could be the carbonate maybe??)

edit2: not the carbonate as that is converted to oxide and CO2 with heat...
