ThunderDan you are the man! Thanks for tips. The math you guys do here is insane in terms of finding the perfect vape.

Oh and one more question! If I did make a contact coil, how do I check for hot spots? Currently I'm just stroking it as much as I can without dry burning, vape a full tank and then check if my gunk is building inside out.

If you're careful, light pulsing on a low wattage in low light seems to work for me. Strum, and tweak with tweezers as necessary.

That's kind of your call whether you want to do that.

I am officially a beleiver! Just put a .65 ohm SS430 coil in my subtank, set the resistivity on the mod, and this is one of the best vapes I've had on TC EVER!

I don't have any reference to other TC wires but SS430 performs perfectly for me as well.

Running TCR on 13, 450F @ 30W and she vapes great all day everyday.

The vape is great with SS and TC, to be sure. However, another real treat comes into play when you can take your TC SS tank off of a TC mod and put it on a mech and return to vaping. SS is cross plarform, so to speak...

I do it daily, especially on the dripper. It was my #2 reason of why I chose stainless.

I ran into a guy tonight playing his guitar with a broken E string, almost got my first ss wire but couldn't get the other end off of the guitar and had nothing to cut it with.
did you ever try the wound guitar strings as claptons?? I think you were talking about it at some point..

If I don't have a dicodes or a box with tcr control I can't possibly use SS in TC mode yes? Like on my dna40
With a device that has titanium mode, and a SS with relatively high TCR like grade 430, it is possible with a temp offset, just like you can do TI on a mod that only had a nickel mode with a temp offset.

If you only have a nickel mode on your device then SS will not work in TC.

+Ohm coils with Ti and SS are possible however with some interesting (or not) observations.

Due to the limits of the maximum boost voltage some mods will limit TC mode to < 1ohm while there are some that do not. Those mods that have a user settable watt and/or overdrive feature in TC mode may need to make note of the maximum output voltage (and current) of their mod and adjust their output settings accordingly.

I've fired +1.5 ohm Ti and SS coils in TC mode on IPV4S, SXminiM and Apollo Reliant. I'm currently running 2.0ohm SS coil on the Reliant and have a similar build coil on a old VV/VW mod.

With a ~1.6-1.8ohm coil (used in TC mode) I was for the first time able to get ~+12hrs of vaping out of a single HG2 battery.

With higher resistances we can use older lower power VV/VW mods. (I'm using a vmax mini right now) Here the mode choice may not be obvious with wire that changes resistance as it heats up. If I were to use wattage mode, the mod would try to feed the coil higher and higher voltage as the coil heated up to maintain the wattage set point. However if VV mode is used less power will be used as the coil heats up.
    (here I'm happily vaping away @ 5V on a 2.0ohm ss coil)

Here I think the variable resistance of the wire (along with a fixed output voltage) is providing a crude form of temperature regulation.

ok guys I've been looking around and can't find the right answer i have the triton and want to set up the SS coil in tc mode with my boxer 133 wanted to know if anyone knew the exact numbers for escribe not sure what to use any help appreciated? also such as preheat and everything else
what garde of SS is it? I seem to remebr it is 316 but not sure. You need to download a cvs file from steam engine wire wizard for the TCR curve!

I tried it out last night on my wife's triton. I just downloaded a csv for SS316 from steam-engine. I used 45W preheat, 40W, and like 460F, seemed to work, it was regulating wattage down once it hit temp (which was a bit jumpy, but vape was smooth).

yea i think it is SS316L, and yes but i don't know what to put in the parameters such as the inner diameter and all that?
that doesnt matter. Its just the TCR curve you need. Those parameters wont affect the TCR at all!! Just ignore them and download the file!!!!
