I know a couple people have tried the dual coil cartos and say that they leak from drawing too much juice.

That being said, one of the vendors has come out with a carto tank design and one member tried a DC cart.
You can see here where he cut 2 slots in the DC carto just like the carto that came with the tank.
Apparently it works.

Stormy's has one 510 Dual Coil Storm Tank - $14.99 : Stormys Vapor Cellar, Electronic Cigarettes & More

Looks like they've cut away most of the outer shell, fluffed or added extra batting, and installed a larger diameter tube. I was asking her (Cloudburst) about it last night, and she says she hasn't had any leaking problems.

Here's the thread in the Suppliers Forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oil-storm-tank-only-stormys-vapor-cellar.html

I can see where that wouldn't leak, they basically just added more batting to make a higher capacity carto.
That's fine as is, but I wonder why some members state the carto in a tank overflows no matter how small the hole is,
while others state that it works with no problem.

Hello all. New here and new to vaping, but learning quick!

I ordered a pack of XL clearomizers from MVS, and after a bit of reading here, decided to order 2 feet of polycarbonate tubing (3/4" OD, 5/8" ID) from McMaster-Carr, and just picked-up a handful of beveled and non-beveled Danco washers (5/8" OD) from Menards, to make a MAP-tank or two.

After getting the Danco washers, I found out they are neoprene (synthetic rubber), which is good according to what I read here, but I decided to look and see if I could confirm this with a chemical compatibility guide somewhere. I found this one from Cole-Parmer and interestingly, although neoprene gets an A-rating (A=excellent) for glyerin, it gets a C-rating (moderate effect) for propylene glycol. Hmmm. I'll still use them since I got them, and others here say they have used these ones with success, but I decided to plug in a few other materials for comparison's sake. Here are their ratings:

Acetal (Delrin): Glycerin (A), Propylene Glycol (B)
Natural Rubber: Glycerin (A), Propylene Glycol (A)
Silicone: Glycerin (A), Propylene Glycol (A)
Viton: Glycerin (A), Propylene Glycol (A)

(B= good, minor effect; D=worst, severe effect)

What strikes me, and the main reason I am posting, is the further conflicting information. I saw it was mentioned earlier that natural rubber is not recommended (breaks down; leaves a nasty taste), but that would appear contrary to what this guide indicates. Strange. Likewise, I have seen Delrin recommended, but again according to the guide, wouldn't appear to be the best among other options like Silicone or Viton. Of course I am taking the guide ratings with a grain of salt, but perhaps this information might come in useful for someone new like myself researching this stuff, and perhaps others might chime in with related information.

Finally...

Can anyone confirm that their Danco washers are holding up quite nicely over time (no funny tastes, etc.)?

and

Besides Danco or turning Delrin on a lathe, has anyone come across anything that works better or might work better?

TIA

Made a few today......no leaks.....we'll see how long they last. They don't compare to Jonboy's Tank......But I wanted to give it a try.

I *TRIED* to get the "rubber" taste people were complaining about by filling a tank, laying it on my desk, and allowing it to stay for a week.....no off taste at all. I'm not sure what their issue is, but I can't replicate it.

Here's the steps I take when making the 3 buck mod.

Clean the bottle really well.
Clean the lid grommet really well
Clean the washer really well
Burn off the carto wicks

Fill and vape

As far as other tank mods, JonahNM sold a few his friend made out of alum...REALLY sharp looking tank mods. I'm not sure if his friend is going to make more, but based on how fast they went, probably so.

I have used the Danco beveled washer and have not gotten the rubber taste people where talking about... UNTIL... I left my PV in the HOT car, and when I came back it had a distinctive rubber taste to it. So I am guessing that the 100+ degrees it was in the car all day heated the rubber to the point it leached the rubber into the juice. Since then I dont let it sit in the car. And I have not have that taste *yuck* since.

Was about to go to bed and walked past the polycarbonate tubing and grommets that have been sitting on my chest for almost a week. I said what the hell and decided to whip my first one up. Incredible how easy it went. Took no more than 20 min tops including cleaning, adjusting, filling her up, and adjusting some more. It vapes exceptionally well, and better than before as others have already pointed out.

I still have to ream out the top of the top tube (cut from a Boge cartomizer) so I can slip in a drip tip (pipe cutter squeezed it too narrow), but here she is:

Parts (McMaster-Carr):
8585K13 Polycarbonate Round Tube, 3/4" OD, 5/8" ID, Clear, 2' Length
9307K39 Push-in Flexible Rubber Grommet, MS 35489-93, an 931-C4-7, 1/4" ID, 5/8" OD, Packs of 50

Spent about $15 on parts including shipping, and I now have enough material to make a dozen of these (not including CE2s). Awesome.

Special thanks to Scubabatdan for his youtube tutorial, which helped immensely.
