We all know that a Genisis has it's own taste, so I was wanting to try this to see if it was the mesh or wick that gave it it's taste.
Well Does it?

There's nothing better than a nicely broken in silica wick with a big ball of carbon buildup on it. Carbon of which brings out the well rounded blends of weeks past and has a nice full bodied finish on the palette.

Sometimes I get the feeling that I am reliving the past with every toke. :p

I cobbled together a dual coil C-E2 several months ago for test purposes. It puts out too much for me to use, so I did not pursue it any further. This is what it looked like before installing it in a bottle.

how is that wired?

At the time this photo was taken, it was wired in series. With 3Ω coils, this allowed it to work safely at 7.4 volts, which was way too much for me. But then, I was an ultra light smoker and do not require as much of a hit as most people.

I tried it at a crazy 10 volts just for grins, but had to operate it at 5 volts or less to suit me. It would not do hardly anything at all at 3.7 volts.

When wired in parallel, it was too much for me at 3.7 volts. It was still more than I like at 2.8 volts, but my variable power supply does not go any lower than that.

That's awesome looking, but for some reason I'm having a helluva time trying to figure out exactly how you wired that.

The positive end of the original coil is still soldered to the air intake tube. The negative wire of this coil is twisted to the positive end of the second one. The negative end of the second coil is soldered to the base of the threaded fitting (it takes the place of the first negative coil wire).

Those have batting material wrapped around the coils instead of using a wick in a tank like the CE2's use. I doubt they'll be adapted to a tank mod.
I tried cutting holes in one to allow the juice from this tank to contact the filler. It drippied. ALOT. =( It's not a sealed container with the filler. I was hoping the filler would hold tight enough to form a seal to prevent leakage. Never woulda know unluss I tried, so RIP 1-dual coil carto.... *insert "Taps"

Thanks for this thread. Had two boxes of these clear Xl ce2's sitting here because I tried 3 of them and they all had a funky burnt nasty taste. After seeing this I thought I'd try it out. Torched the wicks clean, assemble tanks and they seem to be working great. Didn't have any of these bottles but I did have some syringes to use as tanks. Only cost $1.50 or so for a 10 pack of the washers at home depot. Saved me from throwing out 25 bucks of clearomizers.

How is the stability of the beveled washers?

I ordered a MAP tank and when it came in the lower cap leaked like a sieve. COV sent another one, but while I was waiting for it to arrive I used one of the grommets from Lowes. It worked in the MAP tank but was flimsy as hell. Have been thinking about ordering some lexan tubing and making a few of my own with the beveled washers.

The beveled washers are holding up really well for me. Once you have both the top and bottom one on, it doesn't move at all. The only leaking issue I had last night after I made them was because I did not have the top tube pushed down far enough onto the little rubber cap that goes over the wick/coil. It allowed it to wick way to fast and was building up juice in the coil cup.
Soon as I snugged it down a bit tighter the problem went away.

I know a couple people have tried the dual coil cartos and say that they leak from drawing too much juice.

That being said, one of the vendors has come out with a carto tank design and one member tried a DC cart.
You can see here where he cut 2 slots in the DC carto just like the carto that came with the tank.
Apparently it works.
