I finally got something comparatively pleasant! Single flavors have been mediocre at best, and tasting individual flavors has been a pain. Solo Blackberry wasn't bad, but rather weak at 5%. So I said "screw it" and mixed it with some stuff that seemed promising.

Blackberry, 8%
Raspberry (sweet) 12%
Champagne: 9% (measuring error, was meant to be 8%... oh well!)

I don't know that I'd recommend the mix, but it's the best I've got so far. With just shaking and no steep, it's not half bad. I'll let it breathe tonight, and try in the morning. It also means I'll have a chance to finally play around with EM and Sweetener, now that I can test it on something that doesn't make me wretch :p

I'm just glad something is working at the moment. I will certainly be picking up some of Bill's essentials above (From the list, I only ended up with cotton candy...), and sticking to trying some posted recipes when I buy flavors next. I'll certainly play around, but I'd like something that I can vape, given my initial investment!

How long ago did you get it?There was a thread a while back about the dry4 being weaker now than it used to be.I bought a small bottle back in april, and it was a light golden color and tasted very good.I got a larger bottle around july, and it is crystal clear,i still have not used any of it yet to if the taste is the same though, but someone contacted Linda at tfa and was told that there were no changes made, and that maybe it just needed to age some, but mine is still clear.Just wondering if maybe you got some of the same batch alot of people have been complaining about.

Bill, or anyone...

You have lots of juice and some of it doesn't get used up right away. Have you ever had a bottle of juice lose flavor? For instance, it just got old; or, you didn't shake it every time you used it?

I have a 4oz bottle of RY4 Double. It has 20% left. I've been using it to find the "sweet spot" for RY4 for me. Trust me - I haven't used 80% of the bottle to find the sweet spot. I've been using it in a mix and realized I haven't been tasting it. So, I'm up to 15% in my little 100 drop test mix and I still can't taste it. Is it possible the flavor settled or floated and I used it all up and now have only PG left?

This is really stumping me.

Tim

Welcome to the PermaVaperTongue Club! I'm not only the founder, I'm also a member....

Anyone else around who can test this for you? Seriously? Ok, reset palate time, maybe. Go smell some fresh ground coffee. Big ole whiff! See if you can taste it. Oral hygience, coffee, different flavorings: vape, then see if you can taste it. If not, and others can't taste anything, you either don't have flavorings in the bottle (ninjas change mine out sometimes), or the flavor disappeared on you, or tongue stopped working. Probably an answer in there somewhere. I can't say I've noticed that flavor disappeared. I know sometimes my taster doesn't work so well. Vape cinnamon all day long and see how your sense of taste works....numbness....Can you smell it? Is it a liquid? is there anything there? Dream or Twilight Zone? Who knows. I used today at 2% and I could taste it and smell it. Maybe a bad batch? Distortion in time and space? Who knows, my friend. You should be able to taste 15% RY4 Double, I assure you.

By the way, I may have finished my tobacco, I'm in the test phase, and it wasn't far off from my original thinking. We were going to do something with this maybe? Anyway, always good to have you on board! Ciao...

Yeah, your's definitely looks like it has that golden color.I dont know maybe there was a bad batch, because like i said mine is just as clear as pg is,even after sitting for several months now.I will probably make a batch with it just to see if taste is any different,if it is,luckily it wont be a huge loss,i think it was only maybe $3 for the 15ml,but hopefully it's usable.

I'm sure this has been answered but I haven't come across any posts...how long is the flavor good for after opening the bottle?

Thanks!

I don't know that answer to this. I think it would vary by flavoring. Kept sealed in a cool dark place, though, they should last a couple of years or more. That's all I've been mixing and mine still seem fine after that long. Do not leave the tops off juice or flavoring. Even leaving the tops off of juice overnight is not a real good idea. You will lose flavor and nicotine that way. About 2 hours tops for me (tops off). Then sealed, cool, dark place (cabinet). Wish I could be more helpful.

Mine was from 3 weeks back:
View attachment 373649

That's what mine looks like. Same color. I'm going to take Bill's idea tomorrow after church and run through all he suggests.

I bought the bottle 6 months ago. I can smell it in the bottle. I have another bottle. I may crack it and try the whole test over.

Thanks for all the replies.

After seeing that pic,i went and looked at mine to see if anything had changed. It did get a very very faint color to it now,but nowhere near what it should be,and the smell is very faint as well. Here you can see how light the color is compared to your's.My first bottle looked just like your's,so i'm thinking this was quite possibly a bad batch.I was wrong also,it was june that i got this, not july.

Two TFA only experiments. Think they have turned out okay for my first original recipes. Both need something though... not quite there yet but almost.

Cherry Gummy

6.5% Gummy Candy
4% Black Cherry
1% Maraschino Cherry
1 drop (16g blunt needle) sweetener per 2.5ml

Probably needs to be sweetened more, the cherries are kind of dry flavors and it's very noticeable when I vape this after something else.

Honeydew Mix V2

7.5% Honeydew
7% Jackfruit
2% Pear
2% Menthol (I used FW but I guess you could sub koolada, I prefer menthol though)
0.5% Spearmint

This one is kind of unconventional but I like it a lot. Thinking I'm going to add a bit more jackfruit because it's not cutting through the mix like I want it to. Think I should try it without the pear maybe, feel like it might not be adding much, just muting the taste of the other flavors.

These sound amazing! But I'd vote for the pear to stay... It seems like it helps keep the - juciness - to me anyway lol Have anyone else to test it on with and without?

Might benefit from vanilla and Cream? Will add depth and thickness and supercharge the primaries. Start at about 3-4% for both and increase, flavor to taste. Also, a little cotton candy with that will do wonders. Good luck!

Root Beer Float was good:

Root Beer

Root Beer Float - 10%
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream or French Vanilla Cream - 5%
Sweetener - 4%
Koolada - 1%

Thought the mix was good, may improve with steeping. Missus didn't care for the koolada, but when I removed it, she thought it was still in there. The "offending" flavor is in the Root Beer, not the koolada. Made it both ways with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and French Vanilla Cream. Wasn't noticeably different to me. No question you can taste what the mix is, but I've had richer root beers. Maybe it's because I'm not crazy about root beer floats? Btw, I don't have sassafras flavoring, or I would have added it. Anyway, quick and easy flavor. I'm vaping it now. Not bad...

I don't particularly care for RBF... But I can't wait to have a coke/pepsi float each summer.... I wonder if that'd work. Hmmmm

Sent from some mobile device I have using Tapatalk - it's the way of the day!

TFA carries several cola syrups flavors. I've made cherry cola with them, not the Cherry cola, but the cola flavors. They are spot on. A dollop of vanilla bean, or French vanilla, and you'd have your coke/pepsi float. I just placed another order today, fourth this week, so I won't be ordering for a while. I can probably make just about anything at this point.

I hear you about the RBF. Missus didn't care for it, and it's just one of many, many different flavors I keep on hand for those moments when I want something different. :2c:

Caramel Candy Apple:

Granny Smith Apple - 6%
Candy Caramel - 4%
Caramel Extra - 3%
Bavarian Cream - 3%
Cotton Candy - 5%

Taste is spot on if you ask me. Nice summer treat! Enjoy....

One more, Candy Apple:

Apple - 4%
Candy Apple/Apple Candy - 4%
Cotton Candy - 4%
Gummy Candy - 6%
Sweetener - 2%

Both nice summer treats...flavor and sweeten to YOUR taste. Enjoy!

Sounds as if I need to add that to the next order. I've got 7 in there now, what's another, right? Lol

I would like to use the Cola for a cherry Cola as well, since that's my preferred method of caffeine [emoji6] I already have Cherry sitting in this order.

As far as RBF... I think that you are right on the sassafras note.

The two candy/caramel candy recipes remind me of something, that I found important along the way, and that is CANDY FLAVORINGS. With TFA, their candy flavorings are useful in many recipes. Here's a list of them:

1. Cotton Candy (one of the very best tasting sweeteners, imho)
2. Apple Candy (Can't make a Candy apple without it, imho)
3. Caramel Candy (Lots of uses for this one)
4. Coconut Candy (another very useful flavoring)
5. Blueberry Candy (I'm sure I'll think of something someday, lol)
6. Cotton Candy CIRCUS - I like this one on it's own sometimes, but, then again, I order cotton candy by the case at home!
7. Gummy Candy - Good on its own, but very useful in other candy recipes, like Candy Apple
8. Grape Candy (Use this in a number of mixes including starbursts, bubble gums, etc.)
9. Mint Candy - a very nice mint. Many recipes benefit from a drop of this
10. Rose Candy - never used
11. Musk Candy - never used
12. Violet Candy - never used
13. Watermelon Candy - wonderful anywhere you would use watermelon. Cool flavorings. Very nice.

I think a lot of times we are thinking more about the "raw" flavorings and not the enhanced flavorings which make wonderful nuances in many juices. Anyway, thought I would bring this to your attention. These are just so very useful and irreplaceable in many recipes. Best!

Did I mention that DIY does NOT save you money....well, maybe eventually, or even early if you aren't into making a lot of flavors. Sure, eventually, it all works out. The fun of this juice hobby, though, is well worth the effort to collect the different flavorings so you make just about anything. Sure, TFA is missing a few flavorings, but I've made hundreds of recipes over the last couple of years using nothing but TFA, and I'm no where near running out of new recipes to try. I haven't bought into the get all the different manufacturers's flavorings, as this would be prohibitively expensive (isn't it already), and how would you know if one is superior to another unless you tried them all. I still don't have all the TFA flavorings, probably missing at least 50, well, maybe 40, so it just never seems to end with TFA as-is...Just sayin'....:2c:

I have rose and violet candy but haven't gotten into them yet. I'm still struggling with basic recipes and figured that these were more for experts to play with. I have over 60 flavors but have only played with about 30 of them. Please post on these if you ever try them, Bill. What you are doing here is VERY helpful and may prevent folks (like me) from giving up on DIY.

what's another, right? Lol

I'm into the same way of thinking haha.I usually order flavors every other week now that i have several to get me by for a while, and even then i have been only ordering maybe 7-8 at a time, since this thread really started moving again,i have ordered 20 new flavors in the past 2 weeks haha.Never fails, see a good recipe, and you will have all but 1 flavor that's in it,it just never stops haha.
