My raspberry/blackberry/champagne is doing rather nice, I finally emptied the kayfun and have it in there now, after about 24 hours of the juice sitting. Still on the subtler side, but I do quite like it (first "recipe!").
I took a note from Boriscoped's book, 10% grape candy and 2% sweetener. I also threw in some blackberry and champagne for kicks (basically as above, but grape candy instead of raspberry).
The grape candy is musty; I don't know how else to describe it! I made it a few hours ago, shook vigorously, and let it breathe until all the micro bubbles were gone (2 hours or so). It's definitely fresh, but I don't have high hopes for it. The grape candy solo test suffered from the same "off" flavor as well. It is crystal clear liquid, so I assume it's what it's supposed to be.
Does anyone else find the grape candy a bit ... Unusual? I'm not sure if EM or Sweetener can make it more palatable to me; I'll have to test it out, but I'll give it a full day of sitting first. I hear TFA doesn't have a great grape, and I'm prone to believe it now.

I mixed up some grape just yesterday and I gotta say. It's some good stuff to me
I mixed it up in an 8ml wizard Labs flavoring vial
6% Grape Juice (.6 mls)
4% Grape Candy (.4 mls)
3 drops of Strawberry
8 drops of Sweet Cream (one drop per ml)
It is even better this morning than it was yesterday.
I'm definitely going to start working more with sweet cream, vanilla swirl and Bavarian cream. I have to see what they bring to the table mixed together in my other mixes.
I'm also making bills pink starburst. Have to try it! Sounds delicious
Yes, the grape can go chemical, floral on you. I get this too. I found that adding raspberry at 2%, or strawberry at 5% eliminates the chemical. Also, the creams also smooth it out. I would up the strawberry in your mix to 5%, or add raspberry. Don't know why they "neurtralize" the chemical in the grape, but it does work. I read about this a long time ago on ECF somewhere, and I've been using this little "flavor trick" ever since. See if it will work for you.
When I make grape starburst, for example, I use 6 - 8% grape, and then add 2% strawberry with 2% sweet and tart, 4% sweet cream, 4% vanilla swirl. This flavoring is fruity, not creamy. If you want creamy, reduce sweet and tart by 1%. Also, makes a great strawberry mix. I also add bubblegum to the grape mix and make grape bubbleburst, which is a big "seller," right after the pink starburst (pink stardust on the Strip). So, a lot can be done with these ingredients. Adding the grape candy will take the mix back towards a sweeter candy, popsicle, blow pop taste. I think they are all really good. Try out the variations here too. I was amazed the first time I added the sweet and tart to my juices. Opens up a whole new world of really delicious vapes. Good luck!
If you are still using Wizard Labs for you TFA because it's less expensive, consider upgrading your TFA account. I asked Linda to explain to me how to do this, on your behalf, as I've been buying wholesale for a long time, and it's considerably less expensive. Basically, the 4 oz cost (wholesale) is similar to the 1 oz cost (retail). Here's what Linda had to say:
"It's very simple! Just have them call in or email us at admin@perfumersapprentice.com to get upgraded for wholesale! To save time, you may want to mention that they'll need to create basic accounts on our website first.
Cheers!"
If you haven't done this yet, you should consider this as it'll save a lot of money, or you'll have four times as much flavoring to work with, which is critical to making a lot of test batches. Good luck!
The same as far as I know, lol!Today is a sad day,i came home from work to find 8 new flavors that i needed to complete some of these recipes had arrived and are sitting on the table waiting for me,then the reality hit that i don't have any empty bottles to make them in haha. Now i really need to go back through some samples that have been sitting a while and see what i can get rid of to free up some bottles.
Hey Bill,is the wholesale part the same as the bulk sizes part?I upgraded to the bulk size page a while back, just curious if it's the same or if the wholesale is different.
Well.... after looking at all of the recipes on here, and yes, Bill, so many are yours, I finally got the time to sit down and get a full order together for TFA.... Just under $200, but not by much! Pressing the send button...... now.![]()
I'm going to make Creamy Donuts today with the new TFA flavoring "Frosted Donuts." Has anyone used this, found a starting percentage, or have a recipe? I haven't even tasted it yet. The only thing I'm sure I'm going to do is sweetener, sweet cream and maybe Bavarian cream. Ideas?
Can you give an idea as to what you're currently paying so that if we find a better deal - we can pass it along please Bill? [emoji4]It's literally unbelievable how much glassware is needed for this hobby. It is not safe to store this stuff in plastic. Although it is way less expensive, it will leach into the juice, particularly after 30 days. I still use plastic bottles for samples that I give away, and do still buy those in bulk, but all my personal stash is in glass bottles. Lots and lots of glass bottles. My old 1 oz TFA bottles have been recycled and I use those for daily flavorings. All juices that I provide for others I put in amber dropper bottles, or capped bottles. I like the blue the best, but they are really expensive, the amber about the same as the clear in most cases. I don't yet buy bottles by the thousand yet, so I still pay a pretty penny for these, and buy them as I need them.
If anyone has an inside track on amber dropper bottles by say the hundred, I would be very interested in the 15 ml/ 1/2 oz ones? I would appreciate anything in this regard.![]()
