Okay, so in the interest of sharing on my DIY journey ... I've finally come up with a recipe that I'm willing to put into a 30mL bottle. It's the banana cream and I think it's pretty awesome for my tastes (a bit sweet and kind of a strong banana flavor). I started out doing this because I didn't like the straight TFA banana cream flavor and now I'm wondering if I could do without the banana cream altogether. This is my take on a recipe that was shared from a friend in an entirely different forum thread...
12% Banana Creme
11% Vanilla Swirl
3% Bavarian Cream
2% Ripe Banana
2% Brown Sugar (extra)
1% EM (10% dilution)
I mix to 30PG/70VG but this one came over by 1% because I included it in the flavor percentages rather than (sweeten to taste) after the whole thing has been made. The first time I made this recipe it was slightly different and it was fine, but it had a light, creamy inhale with the banana only on the exhale. I reduced the Vanilla Swirl, and the Banana Cream a tiny amount and added a little bit of Ripe Banana (it's strong) and EM. Now it's a bit more balance on the inhald vs exhale.
...
Still working on that Green Apple. I wanted a bit of depth to the single-flavor Green Apple so I added 2% Bavarian Cream and a bit of vanillin. Turned out quite interesting as I never thought of turning a green apple flavoring into a cream flavor. Hard to explain but instead of "depth", I ended up getting "rich" from the new combination ... which wasn't was I was going for. It's not unpleasant at all, but just not quite what I was going for.
I now know that cream wasn't the way to go for me. Need something with less cream in it, obviously. I can now scratch out Bavarian Cream and Dulce de Leche (unless it's like .5%). Brown sugar 2-3% will be the next try with 1-2% strawberry (ripe - for the tanginess). After that will be Butterscotch. After that will have to be caramel ... if I ever remember to order it.
edit: I haven't mixed any of Bill's recipes yet but since I need to get stuff to work on the sherbet, I'm going to get the stuff needed for a batch of his Pink Starburst. I'm a pretty huge fan of the E-Liq Cube version so that one will be my first of Bill's Magic recipes.
