Frosted donut will be interesting... That Tropical Paradise is being added to my list. Bill, you're running my TFA bill up! But I like it!!!

Yes Bill you have me and any others opening our wallet for more flavorings, and to think I thought had enough on hand since I have 200 flavoring on hand not all TFA but the I would say over 50% is and now I want more.

Just giving you a hard time Bill, this is a great thing, and more great juice will come from the post as we ALL input thoughts and work together we all can make GREAT juices. Asking all the lurkers out there, I know there are lots out there because I was there also but this is a great thread so I know there are many lurkers just wanted to let you know type away any thoughts or questions we can only build from them. Remember there are no dumb questions or thoughts it might be the that missing element we all need to make a juice go from good to GREAT.

Just a thoughts I was reluctant to make Bill's Apple Pie only because I have made many recipes for apple pie, will I gave in tonight and made it and all I can say if you haven't made it you need to, it is a real winner, I LOVE IT, a BIG thanks to Bill for adding so much to this post

Thank you for this question/response!

1. I use both sweetener and Cotton Candy, in virtually everything I make, just like the real world does in our food. Why? it tastes better. I have a slight preference for the cotton candy. Tastes better to me, but if you look through my recipes, I use both almost equally.

2. I know exactly what you mean by thin, and it's why I often add creams and vanillas to my mixes. They taste "thicker," to me, whether they are or not.

3. While it not 100% true that flavor is not affected, it's pretty much a taste thing. The creams and vanillas add to and enhance the flatter flavors, like most fruits, and many other single ingredient base flavorings. While you can detect vanilla and cream, they potentiate to expand the base flavoring. The Grape becomes "more grape," for example. So, while you can taste vanilla and cream, because you get "more grape", you don't experience a significant flavor change, but, rather, a more expansive, richer, thicker, creamier grape. I don't know why adding nuances to flavors causes them to expand and become richer, I just know that is what it does, from experience. Also, remember, that taste is totally subjective. The flavors I add and the percentages I use may not be exactly right for you, and that is what makes the journey so interesting to me. You literally HAVE TO figure out your blends yourself for your taste.

I'll give you another example. Try making chocolate using chocolate flavoring. If you can do it without vanillas and cream, I'd like to hear about it. Chocolate was tough for a long time until I began to think about what chocolate really is. Take a delicious milk chocolate, for example. Sure it cacao/chocolate, but that a very bitter taste until you add dairy, vanilla and sweetener, and then it tastes like the familiar chocolate we all love. Flavors work the same way. They are base flavors and must be enhanced with supporting flavors to get them to where you want them. This has been my experience and one of the primary ways that caused my juice to go from lousy to pretty good, I think. I like it. :D

In an earlier post, a member listed the ingredients for a recipe to make a flavoring like cake for example. How can you make cake without a base, sweetness, eggs, dairy, butter, creams, etc.? Doesn't work unless you do. This doesn't mean that you have to always use all of these ingredients, only that enhancing base flavors is what makes juice great. So very few of the TFA flavors taste spectacular out of the bottle, as single ingredients, at least they don't to me. But add a little of this and that, and suddenly....MAGIC JUICE! So, play around with it yourself and see if it works for you. Maybe the vanillas and creams will so change the flavoring for you that you won't want to go that way...and, of course, that's fine. But give it a try and see if you like it, is all. Best of luck and kindest regards, my friend!

Bill by the way do you cook too, if so I'm coming to your house for supper.

No problem, completely understandable.Yeah,i gotthe vanilla custard on there, the one i was unsure on is below that it says vanilla cream.I can definitely relate to not realizing how much your goind through and that wonderful sensation of burning wick too, been there a few times, that is not a good taste haha.

I'm glad someone else can relate, I felt like an idiot at the time LOL I had JUST mixed that up, and I wanted to kick myself. More than anything, I simply wanted to sit on it for a day or two to see if it was going to change at all once the flavors came together. I love love love that the TFA flavors are concentrated like they are. More because I know when we open/close/open/close/open/close our bottles, we're going to lose a few molecules of things. In other avenues, that's called the Angel's Share (though I don't recall the original place I heard that from) and is an acceptable loss.

I know its not a significant loss, but it is a loss none the less. As Bill and others have recently stated, the flavor meld is fairly quick-so after a day or two, we pretty much know what we're in for. Since I vaped it to the last drop, I've nothing to test today (that was my original plan lol). And since I had my daughters ex-boyfriend over here all up in my "lab" (his dad owns a vape shop in AZ) with 50 questions a minute. I gave up. I didn't want to make a mistake because of the interruptions.

I pondered adding a weeeeee bit of cinnamon to that once I got some-anyone have an opinion on that?

Hi Mrs C, thanks for your input :)

I think that it's AWESOME that you're willing to try recipes outside of your own. That shows how you believe in what we all seem to here-trying and sharing to make the community better. That's excellent!!!!!!

Not only that, but you see the use of using flavors that are maybe different from what you are used to. That to me shows VOLUMES about you :toast:

Again, thank you for your input. Can't wait to hear how your trial of Bill's Apple Pie turns out (I can't wait for that one myself LOL)

I know what you mean about more flavorings, I've added at least 50 in the last month, myself.

Glad you like the apple pie. It's a dutch apple pie ala mode, and is the one recipe that I regard as my signature recipe....my best. Juice lines have been launched with that juice, and it's very addictive, LOL! Thank you for the kind words. :toast:

Thank you all by the way for the kind words. I'm travelling this week and away from the vape lab, so I can't add much, but I'll be back soon. :D

Thanks Ren! It's not quite coming together as planned. The 4th test has turned into some kind of sweet mint gum. I may have botched these latest 100 drops, so I'd like to retry and make sure it really is getting so different by upping menthol and cutting down peppermint.

The chocolate still isn't coming through, and it's staying too sweet. I didn't think that 1-2% EM would really add much sweetness, but I may cut that at some point just to make sure.

For what I have in mind, I think either dark chocolate, or some kind of vanilla instead of Dulce de Leche would really help. And Koolada. But, none of these in sight, so it is what it is!

It's fun, but one thing's for sure: if I nail this with what I've got on hand, it'll be my pride and joy for months to come!

I'd love to hear about minty menthol mixes, especially if they're not too sweet like what I've managed to create here!

I would make chocolate minty menthol like this:

Milk Chocolate - 5%
Double Chocolate - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 5%
Cotton Candy - 6%
Butter - 2%
Mint - 2% (several work here - minty candy, peppermint, spearmint, or wintergreen - just flavor to taste)
Menthol - 1%

I haven't made this, I outa the vape lab, or I would have tested this before posting. However, I would start with this recipe and adjust to taste. I'll bet ya, though, that this is pretty close to what you want. Also, sweeten to taste, but I used cotton candy and not sweetener, for better flavoring and not overly sweet (to me). If you want a dark chocolate flavoring, change the milk chocolate to bitter chocolate, and it'll move to the dark side, so to speak. Chocolate requires a great deal of flavoring to "stay" in the picture, and, as you can, see it's about 9 parts chocolate to 1 part menthol/mint. If it's too chocolaty for you adjust to perhaps 8 to 1. Chocolates are difficult with TFA flavorings and require vanilla, cream and sweetener added to the chocolate. The exception is the fudge brownie which is great without the other flavors, but even better with them.

Good luck!

Bill

I borrowed this quote of Bill's from the post above-because I am just too brain dead right now to go search for it-I can't lie :)

Anyway, I have a few chocolate recipes I'd like to try as well. But I have honestly stayed away from the chocolate line of ANY manufacturer. Some of you may understand why too.... Most un-chocolate chocolates have a very ODD flavor to them. To me it's the difference between having a Hershey bar and eating a bar of Ivory soap. Each has its purpose, but they just ARE NOT interchangeable.

But it seems now, this may have changed. I would appreciate if someone that's used each of the TFA chocolates would describe the nuances. Yes, I realize that she has descriptions on the site, I just have always believed that getting information about a product from an actual user doing the same thing you are, is the best way to find out what you need to know before purchase.

I SOOOOO want to make 1) A chocolate/mint patty (for my FIL) 2) I want to create a "Death By Chocolate" so badly I went and bought 3 different versions (Ice cream, candy bar and cookies) for research. NO REALLY! For research!!!!!!! I swear it  and last

3) Indulgent Trail Mix (I already know this will be my Unicorn....but its my ULTIMATE goal) I've included a picture for those who've never experienced it hehe

Sweet Ren! Always supportive, thoughtful and kind! Keep it up, makes this thread so much better.

For that matter, so many are now contributing, it's making it work. I wish I could thank you all for your participation individually, but for now, just know you have my appreciation, and I know the appreciation of everyone here. As Mrs C says, more questions you lurkers! We all learn from them!

So glad to see so many trying new recipes too. It's the only way we can learn for ourselves, the failures as important as the successes!

One point I've read about here. This notion about getting mixed up in our mix. It's easy to do, but sometimes you can't afford to ever make a mistake. I print out all my recipes on a piece of paper, and I check off each ingredient as I add it to the mix. I'm patient, slow, and very careful. Putting in 64 ml of nicotine is not the same as 64 ml of VG for example in a 100 ml mix. Check off each ingredient, go in order, be careful....and then you'll be fine. Good luck!

I didn't try it on day 1,didn't get to it until the next day so it had a bit of time to sit,but i can say on day 2 it is a nice sweet creamy butterscotch taste.
As for the cinnamon, that sounds interesting,i will definitely be making a bigger batch of this, and once i do,i will make up another sample and add a small amount and let you know how that comes out.

Will do! [emoji4]

As far as taking your time and so on - you're on the money! Hence why I quit today when I was being interrogated. I knew even though I'm meticulous with my recipes - that I could make a drastic mistake. Not because I can't really afford to screw up monetarily, which I can't, but I'm not willing to kill my friends and family by mistaking the nicotine for something else.

I've even painted my nicotine bottle lid bright orange, as well as a huge stripe I can see from all angles. It's not worth it. Nicotine IS poison at these levels - period. We just need to be mindful and careful as we can be. How's it go?

Measure twice, cut once

Ya, that!

I'm starting to think I need to use my insomniac time to set up what I'm going to use the next day or something lol

I have a similar method Bill and in the spirit of sharing, I shall.

I track every bottle I make on a spreadsheet. Each bottle has:

Every ingredient in the flavor and it's percentage, individually, and the lot number if one was provided

The PG amount, the lot and date purchased

The VG amount, the lot and date purchased

The Nic amount, the lot and date purchased

The bottle type (unfortunately I'm bound to using plastic for the small batches until I can afford a BUNCH of the larger ones) place and date purchased and lid color

To whom each bottle was given (for instance my FIL is any batch that starts with 1, Me 2, my son 3 and anyone else starts with 7 and their name)

Then each ingredient is checked off and when complete, and label is made with the batch number, flavor and nic mg. I can't wait to get some labels that don't bleed!!! But, we use what we have [emoji2]

Ren, I recommend getting all the chocolates. You'll use them all....eventually, particularly milk, double and bitter....all clear. The fudge brownie is a new one for me and I like it a whole bunch. Ok, make a 3 ml mix with just the chocolates. Taste test the primary three mentioned. You will instantly have the answer to your questions. These flavors smell a lot more like the chocolates than they taste to me. They don't mix well on their own....to me. Slowly play with the supporting chocolate flavorings, i.e., creams (sweet and Bavarian), vanillas (French, swirl, and vanilla bean), and sweeteners (sweetener and cotton candy). As you mix and correct and remix, you can get to delicious chocolate flavorings, all types, milk, dark, middle, etc......all, very good. This is a very worthwhile project.

Once you can make good chocolates, you will practically double the number of dessert recipes available to you. This is a very worthwhile project. You can look at some of my recipes and start low, working toward them, and finding your sweet spot on each. The Chocolate coverered cherries recipe is a good place to start. Good luck!

Hey all!

I've been watching and reading up a storm.

Bill, Hope your travel is safe and enjoyable.

After a miserable fail with TFA RY4 Double because of "vape tongue" I've been rescued by Bill's Cinnamon Danish. Thanks a bunch! It's great.

Now, does anyone have a comment regarding a comparison between:

TFA RY4 Double and TFA RY4 Asian?

I'm thinking of switching to the Asian version to see if I can taste that.

Someone put up a butterscotch cream type recipe and I'm putting together my next order with butterscotch included. I'm going to do that recipe. The next one up is bill's pecan based recipe. Fruits have burned me out.

Bill, any further feedback on the tobacco recipe? Have you locked that one down?

Thanks to ALL of you.

Tim

For those of you using Windows operating system, there is an amazing calculator that would allow the kind of documentation and tracking mentioned in an earlier post. Perhaps this is old news, but i will post the link to thread.

Keep track of inventory, price per mix, print labels, this one does it all...

Ok, I'll out them in the ole cart then! Probably get a wee one of each and then see what I can come up with (for myself) and take requested recipes one by one. I'm now very excited about this!

BUT! I will be smart this time around and hunt down some of your chocolate recipes and make sure I have the flavors BEFORE I order [emoji12] Quite a concept if I do say so myself lol
