TFA makes a cola too, so if you have cherry, that's a better way to go, for all the reasons I have mentioned many times. I have made cherry cola, and it is spot on. Simple Cherry + Cola = Cherry Cola. Flavor to taste. Easy Peasy!

Ahhhh, I didn't see the straight up "Cola". Yup, I'd rather do it that way as well. I'm just going to have to pick up some cherry at the same time! Woohoooooooooo. (Anyone ever notice that you can tell when Bill and I sit down at any particular time of day? LOL)

I have two small bottles and have only used two drops, so far. One in my banana creme (interesting, but the first time two drops to 10mL was way too much ...) and one just to see what it would do to apple. Some people say it gives off a "nutty" flavor but I get more "bread/chip" flavor.

I would consider this a "filler" additive to taste in its pure form. I'm willing to bet some of the TFA flavors with pie crust/cereal/cracker/bread already contain some amount of this... this one's just in its pure form. I have not made anything I consider to be good with this, yet although apple jacks comes to mind.

It's probably easier to find a TFA flavor to match the taste you're looking for. It's the difference between buying vegetable stock and making your own, I would guess.

That's one of those ingredients I fear LOL I've read some really nasty results with it... even at .5%. Just my opinion-for now, it's off the board for me.

Did I mention, I just got back early to the vape Lab? Nice folks up in Idaho! Business, not pleasure....glad to be back. I miss my dogs! And Jo!

We're glad you're back! I know the feeling (I cheated last trip and took my dog, left David's home with him lol) How was the weather? I think you left at the right time-there's a nasty storm headed through CA and then back up to ID I hear....

Just getting a feel for what everyone is mixing ....

Do y'all thin your VG?

I've been mixing 30PG/70VG and have not been thinning out my VG at all.

Good question cliffy!

Personally, I do not. Though I have heard of it. After playing in my lab a bit, I now don't understand why it would be needed. But that's my opinion about the juice I make for myself and family...... lol

Some of you have expressed an interest in our "Vaping Areas," and so I thought I would share my little vaping corner, that we all have somewhere in the home:

Vaping Corner.jpgVaping Corner.jpgVaping Corner 2.jpgVaping Corner with Coiler.jpg

So this is my little Vaping Corner. Hardware below, juice and Bases above, drawers below (not shown). Spend probably about 15 minutes a day here for one reason or another. Keep about 35 bottles of 30 ml homemade juice for daily use above the Vaping Corner in the cabinet, batteries charging below, plenty of drawers for all our stuff, tanks, drip tips, batteries and misc on a vaping tray above one of the Grizzly chests. A shot of my coiler kept under cabinet. Bit messy. Didnt' clean up for the shot, lol. Anyways, that's what it is. :D

I've been mixing 30PG/70VG and have not been thinning out my VG at all.

I mix 30/70 or 40/60, don't thin vg, mostly use bullcity' s, have some from WL that I'll try out next

Got my brown sugar on order to try Bill's apple pie mix,now questing for a good raspberry flavor, I personally don't like tfa' s sweet raspberry much, same stuff used in a vendor's raspberry Danish that I don't like either, not sure if should go regular tfa raspberry or try inawera' s or flavor art' s(i haven't been impressed with fa honestly, yes know lots love their stuff).....reason is I want to try Bill's frosted donut recipe but with a raspberry filling, gotta research this one and do some trial/error to find what I'm searching for, I knows the taste I want, the one Long Beach Juice Supply used in port lb, but now they seem to be gone, so it'll be by taste memory, as I always say, luckily sample sizes are cheap.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love this thread, been seeing some obnoxious drama on another DIY forum that is quite off-putting, people here seem so much more down to earth, kind, reasonable, sensible, and mature

Ren, sorry about your loss

Thank you very much. I appreciate it :)

As far as drama... I think I accidentally came across what you are talking about when I was perusing last night. I agree, unnecessary!

What is it that you don't care for with TFA Raspberry? I've never used it myself, so I'm just curious. Not to mention that Raspberry Filled Doughnut juice sounds delectable lol

Sweet raspberry gives me a play doh taste, I know, I know, weird. When I got it I was like "oh this is what the use in xxx' s raspberry Danish", I could smell it after a sniff test before official taste in a recipe, it's weird, it's me, the vendor's raspberry Danish gets tons of rave reviews actually. I gotta search around to find the one that gives that sweet raspberry jam flavor....I need to try regular raspberry and a couple others, just a matter of narrowing it down for my tastes...I know it's out there :) heck it might be a blend of raspberry flavors, sort of like ripe strawberry and cap sweet strawberry work together to give me that "OMG perfect strawberry"

I use TFA raspberry all the time and Love it! However, it's not a good single flavoring. What are you adding to it to get a mix?

Have you tried it with creams, vanillas, custards and sweeteners? Like so many TFA flavorings, they benefit from supporting flavors in a recipe.

Bump............

Hey all!

I've been watching and reading up a storm.

Bill, Hope your travel is safe and enjoyable.

After a miserable fail with TFA RY4 Double because of "vape tongue" I've been rescued by Bill's Cinnamon Danish. Thanks a bunch! It's great.

Now, does anyone have a comment regarding a comparison between:

TFA RY4 Double and TFA RY4 Asian?

I'm thinking of switching to the Asian version to see if I can taste that.

Someone put up a butterscotch cream type recipe and I'm putting together my next order with butterscotch included. I'm going to do that recipe. The next one up is bill's pecan based recipe. Fruits have burned me out.

Bill, any further feedback on the tobacco recipe? Have you locked that one down?

Thanks to ALL of you.

Tim

Glad you like the CD Tim. It's my Go to ADV!

Regarding the tobacco, I've had good feedback on this one which I call Brandon's Choice:

RY4 - 2%
M Type - 2%
Turkish - 2%
Black Honey - 2%
Caramel - 3%
Sweetener - 3%
Vanilla Bourbon - 3%
Hazelnut - 3%
Bavarian Cream - 2%
Sweet Cream - 2%

I made a lot of variations of this one, and everyone kept coming back to this one, including a few people who don't vape tobacco. This is a wonderful smoke/dirty ashtray flavoring like you find in the best tobacco eJuices. Wonderful!

If you want to make great single flavorings with TFA, try adding them to different mixes. They all seemingly improve with supporting flavors. Here's a couple of examples:

Custards

Cotton Candy - 7%
Vanilla Custard - 6%
Bavarian Cream - 6%

Add any single flavoring to this mix for a great custard. You just have to work out the total single flavoring you need, and it's generally going to fall in the 7 - 13% range. I would start at 10% and adjust up or down as required to match taste. I make this with Mango....YUMMY! :D

Chocolates

Milk Chocolate - 5%
Double Chocolate - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 6%
Cotton Candy - 6%
Butter - 2%

Add fruits like cherries or strawberries. Mix in peanut butter, etc. Sky's the limit. But chocolates are tough and require a lot of supporting flavorings to pull off, imho. Also, by adjusting the double and milk, you can change the type of chocolate from milk chocolate to dark chocolate. I make this with Cherries.

Danish

Vanilla Custard - 4%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 2%
Sweetener - 2%
Waffle - 1%
Sweet Cream - 1-2%

Add almost any fruit to this one for a great Danish. I like it with Peach, but works with apple, lemon, cherry, etc.

Creams

Sweet Cream - 5%
Vanilla Swirl - 5%
Hazelnut - 2-3%
Honey - 3%
Sweetener - 2-3%

This cream recipe is great with fruits and just about anything else. Add single ingredients to this in the 10 - 15% range. I would start at 10% and increase until you find the sweet spot. I use this with strawberry and banana.

Pies

French Vanilla - 4%
Sweetener - 4%
Pie Crust - 4%
Graham Cracker - 3%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 1%
Cinnamon - .5% (OPTIONAL)

Add your fruit (10-15%) or nut (5-10%) to this recipe for a wonderful pie flavoring. I use this with peach, apple, pecan, etc.

Tarts

Sweet Cream - 4%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Cotton Candy - 2%
Sweet and Tart - 2%

Wonderful starburst flavoring and great with cherry, lemon, strawberry, grape (with raspberry or strawberry), orange, etc.

Complex Creams

Add strong flavorings of almost anything to Cream Fantastico to make a delicious Complex Cream. This works particularly good with strong cinnamon's, tarts, etc.

Cream Fantastico

Blueberry Extra - 8%
Strawberries and Cream - 7%
Vanilla Swirl - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Cotton Candy - 4%
Sweetener - 2%

This cream mixture mixes surprisingly well with everything I've tried so far. In this way, it can "rescue" a bad mix along the way. So, adding this to other mixes can produce some remarkable results. Try adding this to my Red Vines recipe for example. Had one vendor say that mix was the best juice they had ever tasted. I mixed those two specially for her as she wanted a creamy red licorice juice. She claimed she could taste about 8 different flavorings and was blown away. Glad you liked it miss!

Anyway, if you are just starting out, get the flavorings in the recipes above from TFA. Add your favorite fruits, tobaccos, etc. to them and you'll be making great juice in no time. Of course, all recipes must be flavored to individual taste, but these will get you close, and most folks will like them just as they are.

Also, combine fruits too. Add pear and peach, or any other pairings together in the strengths suggested and make up your own magical juice that no one else has. Put your name on your new creation!

Also, you need a good juice mixing calculator:

eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

Good luck! :toast:

Oh wow, thanks Bill, lots of info....I plan on playing around more, It'll be something for me to work on....let's see, the recipe I tried was a raspberry cheesecake thing, perhaps my fruit flavoring was too high

10% tfa sweet raspberry
5% tfa cheesecake Graham crust
6% tfa bav. cream
2% cap fr. van. 2

I honestly enjoy all this DIY learning/tinkering, I don't like cooking much, but this stuff is fun:) even when I get something I don't like, I like the thought process of adjusting things and "experimenting"

I hear you. Everyone tries to make cheesecake and gets very mixed results. They are tough to be sure. I would try some of the other recipes first. Cheesecakes always look good on paper, and then don't taste like they should. I don't know why. I can tell you, though, that the cheesecake with graham is the way to go, maybe adding even more graham. Custard notes are very difficult because we can't vape certain custard notes that are in real cheesecake. Also, real cheesecake is as much texture and flavor as anything, and we can't duplicate the texture, so it always feels a bit thin, no matter what I do. :2c:

Edit: Try the raspberry (starting at say 7%) to the cream, danish or custard recipe. Vape. Now add that to the frosted donuts. Could be wonderful.
