It's final - my wife has vaped this for the last week and she really likes it - she even expressed some disappointment at having to switch back to the commercial liquid I was trying to get her a decent copy of when she got close to running out. So we won't be messing with this recipe any further.

It is an after dinner soft butter mints type flavor. The flavor is not a 100% spot-on perfect copy of the MEL liquid -- it's slightly different. It is perhaps a tiny bit richer in some ways and has a nice peppermint that you get on both inhale and exhale, yet not too strong in my wife's opinion. It is sweet from the Vanilla Swirl, but not overly sweet. My wife likes it better than the MEL juice she has been vaping exclusively for the last couple years.

It is good right out of the can - I've been sitting mixed bottles in a pot of hot (not boiling hot -- just hot) water for 20-30 min or so and shaking several times during that period. But the flavor really jumps out after a couple of days.

Credit/thanks goes to my wife for helping me taste-test this, the unknown poster of a similar recipe I started from, and to Bill's Magic Vapor for the inspiration and very helpful information on flavor testing/development. I got it where it is now and where my wife likes it on the 4th try. (and accidentally discovered something very close to a tic-tac mint flavor along the way that I will work on more later) I hope to develop other recipes good enough to share here.

For the record I mean no disrespect to "M.E.L." by going after this flavor. They are easily and by far the best e-liquid vendor we have dealt with in over 3 years - good liquid and good people! It's just that with the $$$ I've put into DIY for my own vaping, it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep buying commercial e-liquid for my wife if we can mix her something she likes and make it ourselves (and customize it to our taste) a lot less expensively. I would definitely recommend M.E.L. to anybody not wanting to mess with DIY.

This recipe was developed at 60% VG / 40% PG.

Snowy Days
9% TFA Peppermint
5% TFA Sweet Cream
4% TFA Vanilla Swirl
2% TFA Koolada

I've also made it public at the ecigvape recipe site. I will most likely be switching to the ejuicemeup calculator very soon but will probably continue posting/publishing recipes I have good feedback on at ecigvape.

Snowy Days

Enjoy! And feel free to adjust to your taste and comment!

What a wonderful post Nic! Great job in all respects, and once you get to the point you're at, it's "Katy Bar the Door," as you grow your juice inventory! Glad to see you taking advantage of the bulk discounts at TFA. Just all around great! Congrats to you! :toast: :D

Bill -- the Pink Starburst is great! haha I needed to mix up something with what I had on hand while waiting for TFA resupply (will be here later today).

thanks for another great recipe!
I'm still kicking myself for forgetting to order the Cotton Candy for that one so I had to make it a bubblegum instead. :)

Thanks Bill. Haha -- it's all your fault!!! (Not really, I was already on this road... but now I'm not wandering aimlessly)

How can you tell I'm still new at this? Because most (!) of our mixing setup still fits on one shelf in a closet! :)

But this is definitely fun to mess with - and it's great when you can mix something that actually tastes good!

There's a lot of great mixers here in this thread, by the way. I've learned a lot from everyone here and will do the best I can with my crazy schedule and time demands to give back. Everybody wins when we share.

Your already sharing Nic-holio just added your Snowy Days to my list.

Made a juice
Recipe I found, someones clone, tweeked it a bit Sollers Point from Charlie Noble

3% Ripe Banana - tfa
3% Danish Cinnamon Swirl - capella
6% Sugar Cookie - Vipers flavour
6% Caramel Original - tfa
5% Vanilla Swirl - tfa
4% Bavarian Cream - tfa

I was sent a bunch of flavours from some kind people. I figure people could use all tfa flavours or similar ones.
Just made it last night.

Out of curiosity if you had no sweetener one day and you used a liquid sweetener from the store that contained these ingredients would it cause problems ?
Demineralised water
agave syrup
steviol glycocides
sorbic acid

The thing that seems most questionable to me would be the Agave syrup. I know I've seen Stevia used (though I'm not sure if it's recommended), and I assume that's what's up with 'steviol glycocides". I believe (although hopefully he'll chime in) Bill uses Citric acid in his mix, and sorbic acid's kinda sorta similar... I guess that one's a bit of a stretch too :)

Yeah, the syrup seems iffy, I wouldn't be too worried about the rest. You could always try a 100 drop test to see if it's the weirdest juice you've always tasted, but I'd be hesitant to make much juice with it :)

I haven't tried really anything like that, and I would be too afraid to try it, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work, just that it would not be for me. I would order what I needed and wait, myself. :2c: :toast:

Haha all my stuff fits in one of those same priority boxes. Just 'upgraded' my TFA account tonight so I can buy the 4ozers. Now that I've got my ADVs, its time to go big! Too bad I don't have enough cash to just order a 55 gallon drum of Watermelon Candy!

Thanks people.
Was just wondering if say you ran out of sweetener and probably not worth it just ordering one bottle of something.

I agree with what the others said, that agave syrup is probably the worst one -- I've seen that sold as a sweetener, so it's probably full of various (?) real sugars, fructose would be my guess, coming from the agave plant -- mother of tequila! :D I'm thinking it would probably gunk the daylights out of the coil, black stuff that would smell horrible -- burnt sugar stinks ungodly. Just think of how bad burnt popcorn smells in the microwave... it's the sugar content that makes it smell so bad.

BTW as much as I really like these 4oz bottles, there are a couple things I should point out in case anyone is thinking of getting these. Not serious problems but just things to be aware of:

1. I always end up with a little bit of flavor concentrate left in the original plastic bottles - somewhere around ~5ml - that won't fit in the 4oz bottle. I doubt the bottle is undersized though - it's probably just how awesome TFA and OSDIY are - filling the original bottles all the way up even if it goes a little over 4oz. (that's what all the bottles in the priority mail box are - "empties" that aren't quite empty yet!) I may need to have a mini-mixfest to use those leftovers up so they aren't sitting in bottles mostly full of air for long.

2. The height of these bottles is just over 4". This does unfortunately mean that if you are using 4" needles to draw flavoring out, you won't quite be able to reach the bottom of a bottle that is closer to empty without sticking the syringe into the bottle some or tilting the bottle and angling the syringe, using longer needles (pricy above 4"), or pouring to measure. Me, I'll probably use this as an indicator of time to reorder that flavor and pour the remainder into a smaller bottle/vial to finish it off.

3. BD 10ml luer lock syringes are a little too big around to be able to fit into the mouths of these bottles -- but smaller syringes will go in. The 4" glass droppers from Amazon that Bill's Magic Vapor recommends will fit without problem and are tall enough with the bulb to not fall completely into the bottle. Reagent bottles with wide mouths are probably the best solution all around but these were significantly cheaper. (LOL! If I had found cobalt blue wide mouth reagent bottles I probably would have jumped on 'em even if they were more expensive!) :)

4. Cap type - Speaking specifically for Specialty Bottle's 4oz bottles - the standard phenolic screw-on caps you get with the BRx4 (where x is B for blue, A for amber, or F for clear) have a foam/plastic lining underneath. These are high quality caps that seal well but if you prefer the poly cone type liners instead, Specialty Bottle says you can get the bottles with these caps for a few cents more per bottle -- you just need to call in or email them your order rather than order online. The cap size/threads for the 4oz is a standard 24/400 type - and the caps TFA uses on the shorter-profile PETE-type plastic bottles some of my flavors came in are a match. I also have another source for the poly cone caps @$0.20/each which are very high quality caps. (Unfortunately I didn't think about getting caps with poly cone inserts until my bottle order had already shipped)

Tip - Using glass stirring rods to transfer liquids between bottles
BTW, glass stirring rods make for a simple way to transfer liquids from one bottle to another with a much-reduced risk of spilling any, and they are quicker/easier to clean up between flavors than glass funnels. This is a transfer method I was taught many years ago in high school chemistry class. You stick the rod into the bottle you're going to pour into, and while holding the rod with one hand where it isn't touching the destination bottle's mouth near the top edge (to avoid overflow/spills), you hold the source bottle with the bottom of its mouth in contact with the rod and carefully/slowly pour. The liquid will flow along the stirring rod into the bottle instead of in an uncontrolled fashion. Make sure to keep the bottom of the source bottle's mouth in contact with the stirring rod, and stop when the top edge of the source bottle's mouth starts to touch the rod. When the top of the source bottle's mouth is up against the stirring rod, you can lift the rod out some and lower the angle of the rod to be able turn the source bottle up higher. When you're done, it's fast and easy to rinse off the rod and wipe it dry for the next transfer.

If you've never done this before, you can practice with water once or twice and you'll have the hang of it before you transfer the good stuff!

Mix on!!! :)
