It's final - my wife has vaped this for the last week and she really likes it - she even expressed some disappointment at having to switch back to the commercial liquid I was trying to get her a decent copy of when she got close to running out. So we won't be messing with this recipe any further.

It is an after dinner soft butter mints type flavor. The flavor is not a 100% spot-on perfect copy of the MEL liquid -- it's slightly different. It is perhaps a tiny bit richer in some ways and has a nice peppermint that you get on both inhale and exhale, yet not too strong in my wife's opinion. It is sweet from the Vanilla Swirl, but not overly sweet. My wife likes it better than the MEL juice she has been vaping exclusively for the last couple years.

It is good right out of the can - I've been sitting mixed bottles in a pot of hot (not boiling hot -- just hot) water for 20-30 min or so and shaking several times during that period. But the flavor really jumps out after a couple of days.

Credit/thanks goes to my wife for helping me taste-test this, the unknown poster of a similar recipe I started from, and to Bill's Magic Vapor for the inspiration and very helpful information on flavor testing/development. I got it where it is now and where my wife likes it on the 4th try. (and accidentally discovered something very close to a tic-tac mint flavor along the way that I will work on more later) I hope to develop other recipes good enough to share here.

For the record I mean no disrespect to "M.E.L." by going after this flavor. They are easily and by far the best e-liquid vendor we have dealt with in over 3 years - good liquid and good people! It's just that with the $$$ I've put into DIY for my own vaping, it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep buying commercial e-liquid for my wife if we can mix her something she likes and make it ourselves (and customize it to our taste) a lot less expensively. I would definitely recommend M.E.L. to anybody not wanting to mess with DIY.

This recipe was developed at 60% VG / 40% PG.

Snowy Days
9% TFA Peppermint
5% TFA Sweet Cream
4% TFA Vanilla Swirl
2% TFA Koolada

I've also made it public at the ecigvape recipe site. I will most likely be switching to the ejuicemeup calculator very soon but will probably continue posting/publishing recipes I have good feedback on at ecigvape.

Snowy Days

Enjoy! And feel free to adjust to your taste and comment!

Thanks for reposting this.I got my bottle of peppermint yesterday, and i couldn't remember what i had ordered it for haha, now that you posted this again,i remember why.

My only issue with my 2oz glass bottles is VG always seems to stick to glass, where it just rolls off of poly. Dumped my last 15ml of grape gum from bottle to a 15ml poly bottle and had to leave the glass upside down in the funnel til it all went down. That's why I went with a Wizard Labs poly funnel instead of glass.

Just wanted to respond to #4 real quick for a place to get bottles syringes and other supplies......rtsvapes has the cobalt bottles with the caps you're talking about for $1.15 per bottle.....120ml Cobalt Blue Glass Bottle

Thanks aly77 - good to have multiple sources posted out there. If your luck is anything like mine, your preferred place is out of stock sometimes. :)

Warm it under hot running tap water first? Makes a big difference in viscosity

For bottles (all kinds) I've never found anyone cheaper than amazon. And if you have prime... free shipping.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E77DZ0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I agree, I buy most of my bottles from amazon. Recently I went ahead and ordered some 60ml bottles from WizLabs because of the cone-type cap, I might put some nicotine in those for *long-term* storage. Is it possible to buy the cone-type caps separately, anywhere? I have a couple dozen 30ml bottles with just the regular lids, but those would also benefit from the cone-type, for my nic storage.

I just get the amber bottles, because they're cheaper, and also because cobalt glass entrances me so much that I'd end up just putting cobalt bottles in the window so I could look at them, at the sun shining thru them, rather than getting any use out of them. :D I have some small cobalt bottles from wholecig's WTA, and I use those, mainly because I don't have any other glass 10ml bottles, but I find myself tempted just to display even those small ones. That color, that cobalt blue, is nearly hypnotic to me; I get lost in it, is it blue, is it purple, is it some unnamed combination... ;) I don't waste any time just staring at amber bottles. :D

Amber Glass Boston Round 4 Oz Wilth Glass Dropper Lot of 6: Science Lab Dropping Bottles: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Quicker maybe, and I use Amazon for that reason. Also pricing is good, but in bulk, say over 100 bottles, there are many places much, much cheaper. This thread has many bottle purchase place recommendations. I have a 200+ case of bottles atm, so I haven't bought any recently, but check out this thread over the last six months and you can find pricing at about half that price in bulk. Also, depends on caps, etc. Dropper bottles are the most, and there are many varieties, but caps can be purchased super cheap. Because when I need bottles, I usually need them right now, I do usually buy from Amazon, but only because I don't want to wait for one to three weeks for delivery. Also, we're speaking of glass bottles. Plastic bottles (samples) can be purchased dirt cheap from China (less than a dime a piece). Good luck, and please check this thread out, as I've seen some unbelievable deals mentioned over the previous few months. Good luck! :toast: :D

I have to agree with Bill here. I do use Amazon - a LOT - on my 2nd year of Prime membership. But they don't always have the best prices.

Haha, I had typed a bunch of stuff here and decided to just edit it out before posting. But I'll say this: You're paying for the "free" shipping with the price you pay when the item is Prime eligible (it is almost always marked up) plus the cost of the membership.

You can still get your money's worth out of the Prime membership - you just have to beat them at their game. There is definitely some value to it and the Prime shipping ship dates tend to be pretty reliable.

I use Amazon a lot and average one package per day for the last couple of years. I did feel that they had the best price or near the best price until a couple of members turned us on via thread post to a couple of places that were amazingly lower, like half price, and still much lower with shipping. If you cannot find them on this thread, I can probably dig them out, but it's not just one place, and not just one member or one post,. There are at least two or three places where pricing is dramatically better. Two cents....:D

A couple of placed do come to mind:

Boston Round - wholesalevials

144 Pcs 1 2 oz 15 ml Amber Boston Round Glass Dropper | eBay

I don't know if the information is current any longer, but when I grabbed these and bookmarked them way back when, they were note worthy. So, maybe check 'em out, and Good Luck! :toast: :D

By the way, Ren, have you seen my coiler?

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/bill-s-magic-vapor/6571-bmv-coiler-2-0.html

Looks way more difficult than it is, believe me! This simple coiler can make 50 near perfect microcoils an hour. I built it to build solid coils, accurately, consistently really quick. It has served me well, and I use it about once a week, making about 10 coils at a time. I am not recommending this for anyone, but myself, lol.

All you need is a spool of kanthal (Temco)(I use 29 gauge), a pin vise (I like the Starrett's, but Etsy also has some good deals), a 1/16" mandrel or drill bit/blank, some KGD (Koh Gen Do makes a great natural cotton fiber pad - no bleaching, no chemicals, awesome wicking), and a YouTube video or two. You will also need some micro screw drivers, tweezers and small pliers set. I can provide links for any of these materials if you like.

Those are some nice looking coils.

I'll see if I can find who I got my bottles from when I get home. It was through Amazon but it was another seller that was like a fragrance/essential oils store.. They had the best prices I could find on there. The amber ones were even cheaper but I love that snazzy cobalt blue!

packaging options direct has been my go to for bottles. Haven't compared prices in a bit as I've been using them a while, but they were amongst the cheapest I found back when I was comparing, and their customer service is great

That's where i get mine from, matter of fact i just put an order in today haha. They have really good prices,i got some blue cobalt 4oz. bottles for 56 cents each, then for regular caps is like 27 cents or 56 cents for the dropper,so i grabbed 10 bottles with the cap and a dropper, and another 20 30ml blue bottles with caps and drippers, shipping and all came out to $41 so prices arent bad at all there, and i agree customer service is awesome there.

AndriaD if the closure type is standard (and it probably is - you just need to know which size it is) - you can pick them up in a lot of places. The link I posted in the "things to be aware of" post above about the 4oz bottles has my best price link in it for phenolic caps with the poly cone liner inserts - it's Fillmore Container and they were the lowest price I've found anywhere so far and really high quality. The 24/400 size for my 4oz bottles (120ml) from Specialty Bottle were .20 each at this place, and the next lowest price I found anywhere was I think 40 cents each. They were quick to ship and I had them in a couple days with ground service from PA to NC.

Here's their "closures and caps" page:
Closures

Don't take my word on this because your bottles might use a different cap size and thread pitch (you'll want to find out from where you got them from, hopefully it's listed on their product page for what you bought) -- but there is a decent chance your 60ml bottles (2oz) use the same size closure cap as other folks' 2oz bottles. Specialty Bottle's 2oz bottles use a 20/400 closure/cap.

If these are the right ones for your bottles, they're .18 each at Fillmore:

20/400mm "CT" Black Ribbed PolyCone Lined Phenolic Cap

Andria

LOL!!!

I hear ya. They are pretty. The first thing I bought cobalt blue bottles for was to split up my 1L bottle of nic base into 50ml bottles with Euro dropper caps and put them in the freezer. So they're not being seen much. I will fess up to a bit of staring into my 4oz ones for the flavor concentrates when nobody's looking :)

There may be even better pricing elsewhere I just haven't found it yet.

OK I'm playing around with the ejuicemeup calculator on a windows VM. Am I seeing this right that you can only set one drops per milliliter value for the entire recipe, not drops per ml for VG, different value for PG, maybe even different values for individual flavorings etc.?

Hmm, will have to think about this. Of course, I'll only be measuring by drops when I'm doing taste testing. So I guess it's not really a big deal.

Ok, the 4 60ml bottles I just got from WizLabs have the cones; I need those kinds of caps for 30ml (1oz) bottles -- but I have no clue what those numbers mean in their description, so no way of sussing out which ones would fit those 30ml (1oz) bottles. Why do they have to use such arcane descriptions, instead of "caps for 30ml (1oz) bottles"?

Normally I store my nicotine in 30ml bottles, so that once I open one, there isn't so much nicotine exposed to air/oxidation, and I don't have to worry about how fast I use it or store it in the fridge (opened more often than the freezer!) -- 30ml of 100mg nicotine lasts me roughly 3 months, and so far it would appear that 3 months isn't long enough to cause any degradation, and very little oxidation/discoloration -- the nic that started off clear as water, at the end of the bottle after 3 months, is *barely* yellowed. I got those 60ml bottles with cones for nicotine to be put away for longer-term storage -- and possibly by the time I get around to using those, I may be mixing in high enough volume that even a 60ml bottle could be used up in short order.

Thx!

Hmm, will have to think about this. Of course, I'll only be measuring by drops when I'm doing taste testing. So I guess it's not really a big deal.

The ecigvape one lets you enter drops per ml for each different addition to the recipe. Which is good because I came up with WIDELY different numbers per ml on PG and VG -- broad dropper tip (like the droppers on TFA flavor bottles) 37 drops per ml with PG, 27 drops per ml with VG; with the narrow dropper tips (like those in INW flavor bottles), PG is 55 drops per ML, VG 35 drops per ml.

Seeing this huge disparity between Pg and VG and even the type of dropper tip being used, I've stopped measuring anything in drops; I use my 1ml syringes, so I can measure to .xx, which will have to be close enough; it's the only possible way I've found to preserve proportionate measurements. And before anyone suggests it, I'm not going to buy an expensive scale so I can measure by weight. I have a hard enough time with the measurements I currently deal with, I'm not going to complicate it further by introducing a different scale of measure, and I'm DIYing, partly, to save money, not spend more.
