heads up on the DK tobacco recipe I posted a couple days ago -- the one with the coconut -- feedback I got was mainly 1) too much caramel and 2) too sweet. Oh and 3) too buttery. He liked the flavor especially at first but he said by the end of the day it was really too much flavor. It is pretty seriously full of flavor after a couple days, haha, I noticed that myself. (not the DK - the caramel and coconut are the main things I'm really noticing, although that might actually mean all of the flavors to some degree)

The flavor seems pretty freakin' good, but maybe just a bit too much of it.

Didn't want anyone to mix this up to have to find out for themselves. I'll experiment some more. Will wait til I have good long term feedback to post about it again -- but I'm thinking offhand to drop 1% off of each flavor and see what shakes out.

I found a recipe on reddit, strawberry ripe, vanilla cupcake, and dairy, I am replacing dairy with malted milk...honestly never had, just thought recipe looked pretty good, not sure how will compare though. ???

Please let us know how this turns out, sounds awesome! Recipe would be neat too :toast:

I've been playing with a recipe using dulce de leche but just haven't got it right yet. Saw your post referencing malted milk and a light came on Thanks!:toast:

Yeah I've just got a brother p-touch. Couple things I saw reading reviews etc. that might be good to watch out for is 1) battery consumption and 2) cut options. Apparently some of the current models are bad about eating up the batteries even when it is powered off. I've been pulling 1 row of batteries when I'm done so that doesn't happen. And as far as cut options -- some of the models have a few more cut options, such as a mode where it doesn't automatically feed and cut after each print. It means you have to cut each label yourself with scissors or something after you print several, but you don't waste as much of the ribbon/tape as "margin".
Mines the PT-1260, and has had the same batteries in it for like 5/6 years. Of course I only use it to label things in my recording studio, so it hasn't really seen a lot of use until I started making juice.
Finally ran out of tape tonight after all those years. I had just enough left to label my 60ml bottle of pink starburst I just made.

I tried out a little bit of the Malted Milk flavor, in the few ml of my Smoky Cappucino I had left; it's pretty good, but I'm thinking instead of knocking the 6% of Sweet Cream down by 2% or 3% and using 2% or 3% of Malted Milk, just replacing the Sweet Cream with the Malted Milk, the full 6%. And maybe lowering the sweetener a bit, because the Malted Milk seems to have its own sweetness. It's good, but doesn't stand out much, with the very small amount I added; it appears to be about 4ml left in the bottle of Smoky Cappucino, and I just tried out 10 drops, to get a feel for the taste of it mixed with the Smoky Cappucino.

BBmom, I'm waiting with bated breath to hear of your strawberry malt adventure. :D That sounds delicious -- of course, I'd use my shisha strawberry with that. :D

Please do let us know how it turns out. I'd love to get a hold of a good Orange and Cherry Starburst. I've never been a fan of the pink or lemon Starburst candy but I think I'll make Bill's pink recipe anyway.

The pink is my new favorite! But then again, those ARE my favorite starbursts too. I miss the pack they sold in the 80s that was just the strawberry ones! I was actually just looking at TFAs site to see if I could make the rest. I might even try the old lime one they got rid of and replaced with cherry.

Thanks for reposting, I am going to do strawberry and lemon:). Going to revisit my pumpkin roll recipe too, sort of had some ideas last night, no gingerbread flavoring, but going to try something else out, hoping changes work for better this rendition, we'll see, this one has been tricky.

Bill, hope all is ok, missing your presence, guidance.

I will report and post if recipes yum or not as get to them, I mix, but don't hit for a bit, just cause I make a bunch at one time and get to them as go through them....I'm a slowpoke, I know.

Just an observation, but I have had really good success with vanillas and creams and sweetener in my juices. Often times when I hear about members having problems with their mixes, they don't use these supporting flavorings that enhance, brighten, thicken, and enrich their primary flavors. I thought I would go back to my post about how new juice makers can make great juice today and look at some of my rules of thumb. I thought it might be helpful to list primary flavoring(s), creams and vanillas, and sweeteners as a percentage of total mix. So, here's what that looks like:

Custards

Vanillas and Creams - 12%
Sweeteners - 7%
Primaries - 7-13%

Danish

Vanillas and Creams - 6-8%
Sweeteners - 4-8%
Primaries - 7-13%
Secondaries - 3-7%

Creams

Vanillas and Creams - 10%
Sweeteners - 5%
Primaries - 7-13%

Pies

Vanillas and Creams - 5-8%
Sweeteners - 4-6%
Primaries - 7-13%
Secondaries - 4-8%

Tarts

Vanillas and Creams - 8%
Sweeteners - 2-4%
Primaries - 7-15%

Ok, so overall, my favorite juice mixes have a range of uses of these common ingredients, as follows:

Overall Ranges

Vanillas and Creams - 5-12%
Sweeteners - 2-8%
Primaries - 7-15%
Secondaries - 3-8%

Every juice must be custom tweaked to match your taste sensibilities, but there are some rules of thumb that do work for me. My average juice will have vanillas and creams of about 8%, sweeteners of about 4%, Primary flavorings of about 10%, and secondary flavorings of about 5%, or an average overall flavoring of 27%:

Average Flavorings

Vanillas and Creams - 8%
Sweeteners - 4%
Primary Flavorings - 10%
Secondary Flavorings - 5%

Total Overall flavoring in the mix = 27%. :thumb:

So, these are my rules of thumb, in hindsight, after making about two hundred different juices and over 50 ADV's. This is my happy place. Do you know yours? :rickroll:

Taste IS subjective. What works for me, may not work for you, so you have to develop your own flavorings that suit you. If you do this, you will develop profiles, probably similar to what I have shown here, with differences tailored for your tastes. After a while, the repetitive nature of juice making will cause you to instinctively know how to make juices that are going to match your tastes, as these lists show my tendencies. In so doing, you will find that you can easily design flavorings on paper, that surprisingly well work out upon first mix. It's because you have spent your time in the Vape Lab, finding what works for you. In the end, it's not magical vapor, but rather your experience that will give you the answers you need to make great juice for you, and your friends and loved ones. :2c: :D

:2cool:

My attempt to copy- paste from Bill's blogs didn't work, here ya' go, high flavor mixing info in his blogs too, you could do lower %'s too based on your tastes and if you age mixes or not, but concept of these supporting flavors very important

    Somewhere between here and there
Are you mixing solo? Using any creams/vanilla swirl/sweetener??? See below:)

I was just using the tangerine. I just wanted a straight orange flavor that tasted like the fruit. I might try adding some sweetener to it to see if it makes a difference.

You would need at least a sweetener to make it work. Flavors fall flat on their own for sure.

Tfa fruits can be lonesome solo, hope the sweetener adds some umph ...but might need another flavor in small % to add That something though, something complimentary...or even try just a small 1% of a cream/vanilla to lift the flavoring a little more, add depth.... without turning it into orange creamsicle for ya'...I'll have to try tfa tangerine someday and orange mandarin, right now have another to use up first...maybe even a small percentage of Orange cream if you have would help? Small % of an individual cream doesn't have major cream-factor effect on fruits, adds and enhances flavor, but doesn't overpower the true fruitiness, higher %'s and multi cream blends, yes will make nice fruit-cream mix....let us know how things turn out for you, might take some playing around to get it how you want, but you'll get there.

And I gotta re-mix pumpkin roll, pumpkin a bit too strong for my tastes, lol! Took munchkin for hair cut, laundry done, so re-mix time:)

I'm here every day! Just put my two cents in when I have something to say!

Regarding Hittman's question about solo flavorings. With TFA flavorings, you NEED to add the supporting flavors to create a vapeable mix, imho. At low percentages, say 2 - 6%, you will not taste the creams and vanillas specifically, they will enhance the primary flavorings, and super charge the juice. Juice making is often counter-intuitive, so I understand your wanting to keep them simple, but they really don't work very well that way. As such, you can control the flavoring far more carefully than fully saturated flavorings like one would get from other brands. TFA juice is nuanced and does require supporting flavorings to work well. Why not give it a try? You may be quite surprised! Good luck! :toast: :D
