Going to give your apple pie a whirl. I have been looking for a good apple pie since I started vaping. A B&M made one up back then it was like a warm soothing apple pie oh so good. I went back to buy more and heard those terrible words. "I didn't write it down". He tried several times for me but no luck. Been chasing the holly grail ever since. I have bought many and mixed up a lot more, as they were good just not good enough. Like I said looking forward to giving yours a whirl.

I mixed today about 500ml of my ADV's and one new recipe for Egg Nog. Tis the season. Milestone reached, this is my first batch with 0.0% NIC. Been cutting back little by little for last 15 months.
Mrdaputer, I think you will like Bill's Apple Pie, its been a ADV for me for some time.

Hope I'm not stepping out of line by responding to your inquiry to Bill. I too, use pipettes instead of syringes (but the plastic disposable kind) My 1mL's are graduated to 0.25mL I NEVER get an exact measurement, and sometimes will round by .05-.1, just to get close to a graduated line. I can't tell you if it makes a difference or not, but it gives *ME* very vapeable juices every time.

I know there are many who enjoy the precision, but because taste is subjective, I'm not convinced that your 8% is any better than my 7.5%. If 8% is what works for you, that's how you have to make your juice. That being said, you may have to adjust your volumes to take into account your mixing equipment. If a recipe calls for 2%, you might have to measure to 1.5% with your equipment to make it work for *you*.
7.5% is a major difference when compared to 8%. Very bad advice

Maybe I'm not seeing what you are but I read that post as someone's experience and passing that on for others to consider. Several times even encouraging others to do what's best for themselves in achieving success with a given recipe.
If you have such a strong opinion about that post then this will certainly blow your mind!
I can't be bothered to mix by precise measurements. Hell, I can't even see those stupid lines on the plastic pipettes I use. Now o can look at the liquid and tell, within reason, about how much is in there Haha
Anyway, I have a primary base of the flavors I enjoy. I then put 50ml in another bottle then add whatever drops of flavors I'm in the mood for. Sometimes 8 drops - sometimes more or less. Feel like a nut? I might drip a few drops of Toasted Almond or Pistachio in there for good measure!
Now, the down side, you might say, is how the heck can I replicate a concoction again? Meh, to tell the truth, I haven't the foggiest clue! I remember what flavors I put in but if one really is interesting enough - like my blueberry - I'll make a 100ml and write the recipe down.

All this to say, DIY can be as involved as you want it to be...as long as you are enjoying yourself and able to create flavors you love to vape, then I think by whatever method you use, you're doing it right!

BTW - sorry I haven't been around. Through some help in another thread, I have been blissfully happy with my DIY potions that I have become comfortable with only a very few variations of my dy4. Hangsen Arabic has stolen my heart. I love this stuff! 3% with .5% Vanilla Bourbon is great as a stand alone buy I use it to give some punch to my dy4.
So - my DIY has become pretty boring but I like boring lol

VAPE ON!!

As other members are suggesting, regardless of how we choose to measure our mixes, etc., we still have to adjust all recipes to suit our gear, our vaping preferences, and our own unique taste preferences. I've never met a recipe that I didn't have to adjust. I attribute that to my gear, my mixing and measurement methodology, my vaping preferences, and my taste sensibilities....AND NOT TO THE VALIDITY OF THE ORIGINAL RECIPE, or the methodology of its preparation. So, regardless of how another may choose to mix, record one's recipes, etc., it is at best a good starting point, a launching pad, if you will, from which to experiment with our DIY to discover what works for us. Imprecision may be Nirvana to some, and anathema to the precision mixer Heck, that's at least half the fun for me...Different strokes and so forth!

While a 7.5% mix may be a world apart in a vape from an 8% mix for some, as in the example used in a post above, it is entirely possible that it is indistinguishable in taste and experience for another. The point is that in every case, we still have to tailor our mixing to our own preferences and gear. So great is the difference in equipment and gear alone, that some juices may be wonderful in a tank setup, for example, and perfectly terrible in a dripping setup, or vice versa...and this experienced by the same vaper. I used to run into this with vaping vendors, once upon a time.

I very much appreciate the posts and sharing of ideas, information and recipes on this thread, and try not to get too involved in specific methodology differences, other than to share specific experiences, and ideas about possible directions for my mixes in VapeLand. Good luck to all, in their VapeQuests! :toast: :D

Minty Peach... ?
Swapping flavors in my Reos, I thought I had washed all of the mint flavor out. But the first couple of toots of my 10% Juicy Peach had a slight mint taste. And it wasn't bad at all.

I must be getting weird in my old age....

The one and only time I've ever tasted mango, I thought it tasted like "minty peach"... and I spat it out, since to my own gustatory aesthetics, those 2 flavors don't go well together at all. :D You see I truly *am* weird about fruit flavors, very limited in those I actually like. It always amuses me, those V8 Splash commercials -- "get your veggies and they taste like fruit" -- because I like a great many more veggies than fruits!

Speaking of adjusting recipes, I made some adjusts to my version of Apple Pie. This is great to vape right after shaking.

Apple Pie 8%
Waffe 5%
Apple 4%
Brown Sugar 3%
Cinnamon Danish 3%
Graham Cracker Cheesecake 2%

On another note, (and perhaps @Bill's Magic Vapor i'm looking at you) what can i use as a base for an ice cream flavor? I have an idea to do a green tea mochi. I'm thinking vanilla bean gelato + Green Tea + sweet cream/vanilla custard

I like a vanilla milkshake base that I can add other flavors to. I've used the following milkshake base successfully with chocolate, strawberry and banana:

Bill's Vanilla Milkshake Base

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - 10%
Marshmallow - 5%
French Vanilla Deluxe - 4%
Sweetener - 3%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Koolada - 1%

Here was the journey into milkshake land:

This is a true base mix and does play nice with others. Good luck! :toast: :D

That sounds pretty awesome! I have everything except Dulce de Leche and Koolada.... I just may have to pick those up on my next order.

    Somewhere between here and there
I dug out all the ingredients for the milkshake and added 5% strawberry ripe. I'm going to let it sit for a little bit and then try it. I really need to come up with some type of organization system for my flavorings.

I know what you mean after 40 or so flavors I started getting ocd about keeping these in order, now I have about 150 or more flavors to keep track of so I went out and bought 6 cheap rubbermade type shoe boxes and one big storage tote, I put one or two companys per tote and label it them put all six in the big one, Two for TFA, one for FA, One for CAP and Flavor west, One for empty bottles and caps, one for labels Markers and syringes one for Nic,VG,PG, when I am done they all go back in there shoe box then into the tote then just tote the tote to were I want to mix. keeps me organized and the wife from complaining about it all over the place. Although a proper workstation is in the forseable future.

You and me both haha.My 4oz. bottles are easy enough to look through, but i have probably 125 or so small 8ml vials and 10ml bottles, and trying to dig through all of them is a major pain, and it never fails, the flavor i need is almost always the very last bottle i pick up haha.

just a little thing I did with little 10ml drip top bottles was put a letter on top of cap corresponding to company and write name around taper on cap so i could somewhat tell what was in them by looking at them in my storage bins where i keep them.

Bill, how long does it take to steep out that Starbusrt recipe you posted, I made a base of it of 60 mls and omitted the rasberry so I can try a few flavors that fit in Starburst,Lemon, strawberry, orange and cherry. I was hoping to work with this to help pinpoint the differences in the different companys fruits, I know I should try single flavors first on them but I am going to give this a shot.

Stuck to high heaven of a honey grape orange nightmare, luckily there reshipping the busted ones, I new somthing was wrong when I opened the mailbox and the smell hit me.

I sort my flavorings by type.
    Fruit flavors.
Add in flavors like Grahm Cracker, cookie dough, butterscotch, etc.
    Custards and creams
Stand alone flavors. Cinnamon Danish Swirl, Apple Pie, etc.
And a box or assorted reject flavors.

I get these from Wally World to put my 10-15 ml bottles of flavoring in. Work fantastic.
Not sure what is up with the online Wally World price but I just bought 3 more of them for 2.27 each today from my local Wally World.
Easy open close the juice sits nice in them and they stack great.

They also have another size that is great for 18650 batteries.
and a small one that is great for coils.

I used to do that, but i used the little snack size zip lock bags.I kept tobacco flavors together, fruits together, etc.,but with the amount of flavors i have now,it just got out of control trying to keep them organized haha.I bought a good sized toolbox,my most used 4oz. bottles are in the bottom along with my pg,vg,nic, and syringes. The entire top tray is double layered with the small bottles, then there are 3 compartments on top of the toolbox that are all full of small bottles. It's gotten to the point that the toolbox is about 50 pounds and overflowing,so flavors i don't use much are stored in a rubbermaid shoe box.
